Spaghetti Town welcomes a new guest into its hallowed halls as longtime Bethesda developer Nate Purkeypile joins the pod. He discusses his origins and when he knew he wanted to be a game developer. He transcribes how he got to Bethesda and what it was like working on some of the biggest gaming titles of the last 20 years. He discusses if he has any sentimental feelings for those games anymore since he was there when they were made. Nate explains why he decided to go indie and start his own studio. He's also jumped from the Creation Engine to now using Unreal and the benefits of that. Nate also talks about some of his inspirations and what he might be working on in the future as well as his experience in the Thunderdome at Burning Man. It's the first episode of the year and Spaghetti Town is coming out of the gates with a beefy, oversized episode! Mike gives his perspective on the weekend in Philadelphia and how Jakub would handle it. Mike also pulls the curtain back on how Alex is in real life. A list was released and Jakub gets upset at how many hoops he has to jump through just to see 'public' knowledge. Steamboat Willie is now public domain, and the trend continues with making children's icons into cheap horror movies. Amy soothes the Boys with her lovely English accent while also admiring theirs. While much of the episode is spent talking about the newest consoles, the Xbox One X & PS5, as well as gaming in general, the most joyous parts are found in the conversation about cultural differences between the US & the UK. We hear about how lockdown has been in the UK. Amy inquires about the McRib. Amy educates Jakub about British slang as well as the different English accents within the U.K. Amy judges Jakub's awful attempt at the Queen English.
