They discuss what makes Nix such a good horror villain, Bakula's performance as Harry D'Amour, and the amazing opening sequence with the cult. They also get into the world of stage magicians vs actual magicians, Barker's history with the D'Amour character, and trope inversion of a villain trying to achieve godhood. Aaron and Derek know flesh is a trap, and magic sets them free. Cullen wanted to be a god... then changed his mind.

They also get into the undertones of certain relationships between characters, the realism of Ghostface making the slasher more terrifying, all the references to other horror movies, and many other aspects of the film. They also talk about the influence the film had on folk horror and pop culture, the creation of the fictious community, the menacing acting presence of Sir Christopher Lee, the wild mess of a remake, among many other aspects of the movie. Derek is fine, but his acceptability is limited. Aaron is even better, but not nearly as effective as the right kind of podcaster.

They talk about Hooper's choice to turn the sequel for one of the darkest horror movies in history into a black comedy, what makes this one the more approachable and rewatchable flick, how the overacting (especially from Dennis Hopper) works for the tone of the movie, and what this film means to Hooper superfans Patrick and Aaron. They also get into the neon artificial set design, the descent into madness by the end of the film, how it explores class, capitalism and Americana, and several other topics. Aaron doesn't skimp on the meat. Derek knows the saw is family. Patrick is the Lord of the Harvest!

They spend time talking with Cullen about his horror influences and tastes, and his work in horror across comics and screen adaptions. In regard to the movie, they get into how Carpenter balances supernatural horror with cosmic dread, some of the brilliance behind specific scares, and other aspects of the film that make it a genre classic.
