Throughout history, numerous individuals and groups have faced silencing by authoritarian regimes.  

I know firsthand what it means to be silenced by your government, and still be courageous. 

My name is Virginia Prodan. 

I lived under a brutal socialist regime in #Romania.

Growing up there courage wasn’t a choice—it was a necessity. I faced threats, danger, and even an assassin sent to silence me.

As a young attorney in Romania under Nicolae Ceausescu's brutal communist regime, I had spent her entire life searching for the truth. When I finally found it in the pages of the most forbidden book in all of Romania, I accepted the divine call to defend fellow followers of Christ against unjust persecution in an otherwise ungodly land.

My legal work was declared by the communist government as an act of treason. 

For this act of treason, I was kidnapped, beaten, tortured, placed under house arrest, and came within seconds of being executed under the orders of Ceausescu himself. 

 But I discovered something priceless in that fire: a life built on Christ is unshakable.

Nicolae Ceaușescu, the General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party from 1965 until his overthrow and execution in 1989, employed a wide range of manipulative tactics to silence dissent and maintain control over the Romanian populace.

Michael Pack -Film producer & President of Palladium Pictures - is our guest. 

Michael Pack, producer and director of The Last 600 Meters, is President of Manifold Productions, Inc., an independent film and television production company, which he founded in 1977.     Through Manifold Productions, Mr. Pack has written, directed, and produced numerous award-winning nationally broadcast documentaries as well as corporate and educational films. Mr. Pack is also the President of Palladium Pictures.

His most recent film, Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words, a two-hour documentary, opened in movie theaters on January 31st, 2020 and was broadcast nationally via PBS on May 18th, 2020. The Washington Post called it “a marvel of filmmaking,” and the Washington Examiner said it is “magnificent and necessary.” Also, upcoming, The Last 600 Meters, tells the story of the 2004 battles of Najaf and Fallujah, the two biggest battles of the Iraq War.

From 2003-2006, Mr. Pack served as Senior Vice President for Television Programming at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. In 2002, President Bush nominated and the Senate confirmed Mr. Pack to serve on the National Council on the Humanities, which oversees the National Endowment for the Humanities. He served from July 2002 to February 2005.

From June 2020 to January 2021, Mr. Pack served as the first Senate-confirmed CEO of the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which oversees the government’s five international broadcasting networks: Voice of America, Office of Cuba Broadcasting, Radio Free Asia, Middle East Broadcasting Networks, and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

Mr. Pack attended Yale College, the University of California at Berkeley, and studied film at New York University. Mr. Pack and his wife, Gina, also at Manifold Productions, have three sons and reside in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

DR. PAMELA PRINCE PYLE - Board-Certified Internal Medicine physician, speaker, and best-selling author - is our quest. 

She was one of three physicians selected in 1992 by Carolina Health Specialists (CHS) to begin the first hospital-based internal medicine practice outside of a university setting in the United States. As a missionary, Simon moved to Bujumbura in his 20s after receiving a stark instruction from God, and then, since meeting his wife, Lizzie, in 2002, has spent more than a decade bringing his family up there.

I was searching for truth, for freedom, for purpose. And in the most unlikely place, I found it—when a client invited me to the church; hear the gospel and the pastor handed me a Bible.

The Bible changed everything. It introduced me to Jesus Christ—the Author of life, the Giver of freedom, and the One who gives each of us a divine purpose.

   A third of Americans say politics strained their family.   It’s hurting each of us, and our country.   16% of Americans say a recent Thanksgiving has been spoiled by political fights.

Therefore, 1 in 5 Americans now say none of their friends have different political views.  They totally separated from others with a different political view.  Division - the sign of Socialism in America. 

My recommendation to you is go to Thanksgiving dinner - and bring together people who have a different view or voted differently. 

Thanksgiving  is — a holiday that most Americans celebrate, often with family and friends.  

No matter what happened in the past, we need to be with family and friends on Thanksgiving.   As Americans we could use quality time together.

We need to find ways to create unity. 

But how? 

In this episode Virginia shares the 3 ways we can do it.

Congressman Frank Wolf - our guest 

Frank Wolf, served Virginia's 10th congressional district from 1981 to 2015 and is known for his work on human rights and the International Religious Freedom Act. 

       Frank Wolf is a dedicated champion of religious freedom and a cherished friend. I first met him in communist Romania while I was defending Christians and advocating for human rights.

Frank, along with Christopher Smith, would visit Romania to discuss my legal cases and the challenges I faced with the communist government. They presented this information to expose the dictator to President Ronald Reagan and the world.

After I arrived in America, I continued to work closely with Frank Wolf. 

Frank Wolf  

    - Authored the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998

    - Co-founded the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission.

   - Was the first Wilson Chair in Religious Freedom at Baylor University.

The Frank R. Wolf International Religious Freedom Act is a 2016 U.S. law that amended the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA) made advancing religious freedom a core part of U.S. foreign policy. 

It strengthened U.S. efforts to combat religious persecution globally by improving diplomacy, training for foreign service officers, and requiring greater monitoring and reporting on religious freedom violations, including the establishment of a designated list for perpetrators of particularly severe violations.

President Trump is now putting the spotlight on the mass murders of Christians taking place in Nigeria.  "Nigeria is the most dangerous nation on Earth to follow Christ," according to the House Appropriations Committee said "For simply practicing their faith, Christians are actively being kidnapped, attacked and slaughtered. "

It’s estimated that as many as 8,000 Christians are murdered in Nigeria every year.

I was born under a #Socialist regime in #Romania that promised heaven but delivered hell. I know socialism intimately—not from textbooks, not from debates, but from life itself. I lived it.

I fought against it and I survived it. And by God’s grace and in His power, I won.

Grew up in Romania under Nicolae Ceaușescu’s socialist regime. Persecuted for defending religious freedom and human rights.

I know firsthand what it means to be silenced by your government, and still be courageous. 

My name is Virginia Prodan. 

I lived under a brutal socialist regime in #Romania.

Growing up there courage wasn’t a choice—it was a necessity. I faced threats, danger, and even an assassin sent to silence me.

As a young attorney in Romania under Nicolae Ceausescu's brutal communist regime, I had spent her entire life searching for the truth. When I finally found it in the pages of the most forbidden book in all of Romania, I accepted the divine call to defend fellow followers of Christ against unjust persecution in an otherwise ungodly land.

My legal work was declared by the communist government as an act of treason. 

For this act of treason, I was kidnapped, beaten, tortured, placed under house arrest, and came within seconds of being executed under the orders of Ceausescu himself. 

 But I discovered something priceless in that fire: a life built on Christ is unshakable.

Nicolae Ceaușescu, the General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party from 1965 until his overthrow and execution in 1989, employed a wide range of manipulative tactics to silence dissent and maintain control over the Romanian populace.

I want to walk with you today through my own story, biblical truth, and encouragement to help you discover, embrace, and live out that victorious purpose—even in the face of fear, pain, persecution, or doubt.

I was born in Socialist Romania under a regime that told us: The government is god. You must serve the state. You shall keep your mouth shut, and you will survive. But something in me knew there had to be more.

I was searching for truth, for freedom, for purpose. And in the most unlikely place, I found it—when a client invited me to the church; hear the gospel and the pastor handed me a Bible.

The Bible changed everything. It introduced me to Jesus Christ—the Author of life, the Giver of freedom, and the One who gives each of us a divine purpose.

Hello friends, and welcome back to Courageous Leadership with Virginia Prodan  — where we face the hard questions, wrestle with truth, and rise to live boldly in our faith.

Today, I want to talk with you about something we all face — doubt.

Because doubt is real. It creeps in during hard seasons, in quiet moments, or even right before we step into something great.

You may be asking: Can God really use me? Do I have what it takes? Is faith enough in a broken culture like ours?

And my answer to you is: YES.

I’ve lived it. I faced not just doubt, but death — under a brutal dictatorship in Communist Romania. As a young attorney, when I chose to follow Christ and defend persecuted Christians, the government called me a threat. They sent an assassin to kill me.

But God sent a mission — to transform me from a fearful woman to a bold voice for freedom.

How did it happen?

💥 It started with one choice: To stop agreeing with doubt — and start trusting God more than I trusted my fear.

If you want to move from doubt to faith — and from faith to courageous leadership — here are 3 practical steps you can take right now:

1️⃣ Start where you are — Faith doesn’t require perfection. It requires surrender. Bring your fears to God and say, “I’m willing.” 2️⃣ Feed your faith daily — Get in God’s Word. Listen to truth. Surround yourself with those who remind you who you are in Christ. 3️⃣ Step out — even when it’s uncomfortable — Courage grows when we act on what we believe. Every step of faith becomes a seed that changes you, your family, your business — and yes, even America.

My friend — Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is choosing to move forward despite it.

When you live that way, you don’t just change your life. You inspire others. You raise the next generation of courageous leaders — right from your home, your community, your workplace.

So don’t let doubt hold you back another day. You were made for such a time as this.

Peter - served as a pianist in the United States Marine Band and is a Gulf War Veteran, having served in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain during Operations Desert Shield/Storm.

Jen graduated from Michigan Law School and the University of Notre Dame. She brings a wealth of corporate and legal knowledge to 'He Rules the World.'

    Michael P. Farris has been an active conservative leader since the late 1970s. He was the founding president of the Home School Legal Defense Association and Patrick Henry College.  In 2022, he retired from six years of service as the President & CEO of Alliance Defending Freedom. Mike continues to serve ADF as Counselor to the President & CEO.

He also serves the National Religious Broadcasters as its General Counsel.  Mike has written fifteen books and numerous scholarly and popular articles. His 2017 article “Defying Conventional Wisdom: The Constitution Was Not the product of a Runaway Convention,” 40 Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy 63 definitively answers the left-wing myth that defames the legitimacy of the Constitution. A honors graduate of Western Washington State College (BA, Political Science), Gonzaga University School of Law (JD), and the University of London (LLM, Public International Law).

Mike is married to Vickie and they have 10 children and approximately three times that number of grandchildren. He is also an Elder at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, Virginia.

David Closson serves as the Director of the Center for Biblical Worldview at Family Research Council where he researches, writes, and speaks about life, human sexuality, religious liberty, and related issues from a biblical worldview. He is the author of FRC's Biblical Worldview Series, which seeks to help Christians and Christian leaders apply the teachings of the Bible to difficult moral questions.

David's work has appeared at Fox News, Real Clear Politics, National Review, The Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, Decision Magazine, WORLD Opinions, The Gospel Coalition, Townhall, and Christian Post.

He is the author of Life After Roe: Equipping Christians in the Fight for Life Today (B&H Academic, 2025) and is the co-author of Male and Female He Created Them: A Study on Identity, Sexuality, and Marriage (Christian Focus, 2023). David is a regular guest on Washington Watch, FRC's national television and radio program heard on over 800 stations in forty-eight states. While in seminary, David served as a Teaching Assistant and as an assistant to the Dean of the School of Theology at Southern Seminary.

He has also served as a Program Leader for Covenant Journey, leading trips to Israel designed to strengthen Christian college students in their faith through an experiential journey of biblical and modern Israel. David has served on staff or as an ordained deacon at churches in Florida and Kentucky. He also interned for the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Since 2024, David has served as a Fellow for Human Dignity and Public Policy at the Land Center for Cultural Engagement at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Currently, David is a Ph.D. candidate in Christian Ethics at Southwestern Seminary. David is a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div., Th.M.) and the University of Central Florida (B.A., political science, cum laude). Jerry has appeared on numerous talk shows as a guest, including Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher (4x), Janet Parshall’s America, Point of View, the Moody radio network, TBN, the Fox News Channel, the Fox Business Channel, C-Span2’s “Book Notes,” etc. Jerry hosts a weekly radio program called “Vocal Point”on GraceNetRadio, which is a “meeting of the minds.” His latest books are The Blessing of Liberty (co-written with Peter Lillback), American Amnesia (Nordskog Publishing), A New Birth of Freedom (D. James Kennedy Ministries), and The Unstoppable Jesus Christ (Creators).

Jerry is an associate minister at New Presbyterian Church, Wilton Manors, FL. Jerry is happily married with two children and three grandchildren. The Newcombes reside in South Florida.
