2nd Maccabees Chapter 8

Then Judas Maccabeus, and they that were with him, went privily into towns, and called their kinsfolk together, and took unto them all such as continued in the Jews’ religion, and assembled about six thousand men.

And, they called upon the Lord, that he would look upon the people that was trodden down of all;  and also pity the temple profaned of ungodly men;  And that he would have compassion upon the city, sore defaced, and ready to be made even with the ground; and hear the blood that cried unto him,

And remember the wicked slaughter of harmless infants, and the blasphemies committed against his name;  and that he would shew his hatred against the wicked.

Now when Maccabeus had his company about him, he could not be withstood by the heathen:  for the wrath of The Lord was turned into mercy.

Therefore he came at unawares, and burned up towns and cities, and got into his hands the most commodious places, and overcame and put to flight no small number of his enemies.

But specially took he advantage of the night for such privy attempts, insomuch that the bruit of his manliness was spread every where.

So when Philip saw that this man increased by little and little, and that things prospered with him still more and more, he wrote unto Ptolemeus, the governor of Celosyria and Phenice, to yield more aid to the king’s affairs.

Then forthwith choosing Nicanor the son of Patroclus, one of his special friends, he sent him with no fewer than twenty thousand of all the nations under him to root out the whole generation of the Jews:  and with him he joined also Gorgias a captain, who in matters of war had great experience.

So Nicanor undertook to make so much money of the captive Jews, as should defray the tribute of two thousand talents, which the king was to pay to the Romans.

Wherefore immediately he sent to the cities upon the sea-coast, proclaiming a sale of the captive Jews, and promising that they should have fourscore and ten bodies for one talent; not expecting the vengeance that was to follow upon him from The Almighty God.

Now when word was brought unto Judas of Nicanor’s coming, and he had imparted unto those that were with him that the army was at hand.  They that were fearful, and distrusted the justice of God, fled, and conveyed themselves away.

Others sold all that they had left, and withal besought the Lord to deliver them, being sold by the Nicanor before they met together:

And if not for their own sakes, yet for the covenants he had made with their fathers, and for his holy and glorious name’s sake, by which they were called.

So Maccabeus called his men together, unto the number of six thousand, and exhorted them not to be stricken with terror of the enemy, not to fear the multitude of the heathen, who came wrongfully against them; but to fight manfully.

And to set before their eyes the injury that they had unjustly done to the holy place, and the cruel handling of the city, whereof they made a mockery, and also the taking away of the government of their forefathers.

For they, said he, trust in their weapons and boldness;  but our confidence is in the Almighty God, who at a beckon cast down both them that come against us, and also all of the world.

Moreover, he recounted unto them what helps their forefathers had found, and how they were delivered, when under Sennacherib a hundred fourscore and five thousand perished.

And he told them of the battle that they had in Babylon with the Galatians, how they came but eight thousand in all to the business, with four thousand Macedonians, and that the Macedonians being perplexed, the eight thousand destroyed a hundred and twenty thousand, because of the help they had from heaven, and received a great booty.

Thus when he had made them bold with these words, and ready to die for the laws and the country, he divided his army into four parts;

And joined with himself his own brethren, leaders of each band, to wit, Simon, and Joseph, and Jonathan, giving each one fifteen hundred men. 

Also he appointed Eleazar to read the Holy book:  and when he had given them the watchword, The help of God;  himself leading the first band, he joined battle with Nicanor.

And by the help of the Almighty they slew above nine thousand of their enemies, and wounded and maimed the most part of Nicanor’s host, and so put all of the flight;

And took their money that came to buy them, and pursued them far:  but lacking time they returned: 

For it was the day before the sabbath, and therefore they would no longer pursue them. 

So when they had gathered their armour together, and spoiled their enemies, they occupied themselves about the sabbath, yielding exceeding praise and thanks to the Lord, who had preserved them unto that day, which was the beginning of mercy distilling upon them.

And after the sabbath, whey they had given part of the spoils to the maimed, the widows, and the orphans, the residue they divided among themselves and their servants.

When this was done, and they had made a common supplication, they besought the merciful Lord to be reconciled with his servants for ever.

Moreover, of those that were with Timotheus and Bacchides, who fought against them, they slew above twenty thousand, and very easily got high and strong holds, and divided among themselves many spoils more, and made the maimed, orphans, widows, yea, and the aged also, equal in spoils with themselves.

And when they had gathered their armour together, they laid them up carefully in convenient place, and the remnant of the spoils they brought to Jerusalem.

The slew also Philarches that wicked person, who was with Timotheus, and had annoyed the Jews many ways.

Furthermore, at such time as they kept the feast for the victory in their country, they burnt Callisthenes, that had set fire upon the holy gates, who had fled into a little house;  and so he received a reward meet for his wickedness.

As for that most ungracious Nicanor, who had brought a thousand merchants to buy the Jews.

He was, through the help of the Lord, brought down by them of whom he made least account;  and putting off his glorious apparel, and discharging his company, he came like a fugitive servant through the midland unto Antioch, having very great dishonour, for thetas host destroyed.

Thus he, that took upon him to make good to the Romans their tribute by means of the captives in Jerusalem, told abroad that the Jews had God to fight for them and therefore they could not be hurt, because they followed the laws he gave them.

Current State Of Solar Storm - News

THE STORM IS OVER, However… This weekend's extreme geomagnetic storm is over, but there might be a last gasp. NOAA forecasters are currently predicting a return to severe (G4) conditions on May 12th when one or more CMEs might hit Earth's magnetic field. Of particular interest is the CME from yesterday's X5.8-class flare -- a potent storm cloud that could spark renewed auroras if its internal magnetic field is oriented correctly. 

AURORAS IN FLORIDA, PUERTO RICO, MEXICO: Many people around the world have just seen auroras for the first time in their lives. 

Seeing auroras in the Florida Keys is extraordinary. Some Sky watchers saw the sky turn red across the Carribean. These pictures were taken from the southeast coast of Puerto Rico at latitude 18.1° N:

"The last events on record when auroras were seen from Puerto Rico were in 1859 and 1921, so tonight was pretty historic" Auroras also appeared in Mexico.

The low latitude of these sightings would place this storm among the greatest aurora displays of the last 500 years.

Homelessness breaks my heart. I understand what it is to be homeless, but not to the degree of being outside in record-breaking cold temperatures.

I don't record or speak about the good things I do, unless it's for the direct purpose of helping. However, I tend to help others. It's like my duty. I love to see the relief on another's face.

Here's the story why I've set up a Go Fund Me Account: 1st - I wish I was in a position to assist financially. However, even the little I have I still assist.

One day I was riding my bike (still a little snowy out-but really cold on this day). I was riding through the 7eleven/gas station near kingsway off of the 111 ave.

A lady popped out from underneath a blanket, she was sitting on the curb under a blanket.

I asked, "Do you need a Jacket?" She replies "yes, I could use one." I said ok, I will be back in about 15 mins.

She thanks me and adds that 'Her Name Is Amber.'

Now -- Her demeneur -- Soft spoken - - really nice - - always by herself

Previously, I've made arrangements to help other homeless people and by the time I finish shopping or buying whatever.. They disappear and truly often times I really don't have the extra to spend, but I do.

On my way back To The 7 Eleven I saw Amber leaving the 7 Eleven with her shopping cart which was full of things. Amber said she needed a candle to get warm, so we decided to meet ner the Superstore on Kingsway.

She said she has to check the bins on the way, so she won't be there for a while.

Amber checks every Bin for recycles, metals and other items to make a bit of money. Commendable. I went to the Superstore at that time to give her a candle and a few other items. I didn't see her. I started riding towards the Saskatchewan River and it was just too cold. (Mind you I rode almost to 107 Ave - Superstore is on Kingsway - And I live off of 111 Ave (In The Middle).

This Night Was Freezing -- New Years Eve

I went back to The Superstore to buy some food before it closed. Guess who I see pushing the Cart.. Amber!

So, I gave her the items I had and bought her a pizza from pizza 73 (Or something like that). That was my 1st time buying that pizza-- That pizza was really good-- I wouldn't buy for myself - - But I would buy for someone else in need

Another day, I was walking down 111 Ave, I saw a lady pushing a cart and struggling to get it off the curb to push to the other side nonchalant of the cars coming. My eyes are bad and didn't realize.. It was Amber wearing The Jackets I gave her.

I stopped the traffic and helped her cross the street. I went home and got her some mittens, food, and anything else I could think of.

I saw her 2 days ago at the gas station - - hobbling--- she sad she woke up in the hospital.. they found her in the bay - - now someone stole her bandages -- I only rent a room-- my landlady won't allow her to come her to rest---

If you have ever been homeless then you know you just want to sleep from moving around and lack of sleep.

My landlady said no -- now I feel like not such a great friend.. She can barely walk-- because of the cold

I have to help her and others.. please help me so I can help her.. If I can't financially then I will sneak her in here-- (Yes tears are falling from my eyes because she needs help)

She has no source of income - - and you know.. when I saw her at the gas station-- I gave her as much as I could-- then I think I could do more -- and Then I think I should be making enough money where I should be able to help by getting her a place--

why not a shelter? She said they steal and it's not safe-- She's been on the street for 2 years and still no assistance- - -
