The Sundae Best is a podcast about business, life, health, faith, and everything in between. Your host, Logan Ferree, is a wedding photographer, mentor, wife, dog & cat mom, believer, and so much more. After experiencing the crushing weight of burnout and perfectionism, she wanted to create a space to pour her heart out, share her myriad of life experiences, and invite others to do the same. Because is any experience in this life truly unique?

Logan deeply believes we are multi-faceted beings who are allowed to (and should) have more than one passion in life. So within The Sundae Best, you'll hear everything from stories about how her nerves in her esophagus died to interviews with SEO experts for wedding vendors because that's the range of her everyday life.

Think of this podcast like one giant Sundae... some ingredients maybe shouldn't go together and things can get a little messy, but nonetheless, it's like an enjoyable sweet treat that keeps you coming back for more. From 'Oh Fudge!' moments to sprinkles of wisdom... grab your favorite spoon and let's dig in!

I really want to emphasize that it's about so much more than liking someone’s editing style. It’s about trust, communication, backup plans, and how you’ll actually feel with them by your side on your wedding day.

In this episode of The Sundae Best, I walk through the most important questions to ask when interviewing your potential wedding photographer(s). I also share my own answers so you can hear exactly how I approach things like photo timelines, image security, backup gear, planning engagement sessions, and transparency through the entire process.

Whether you’re newly engaged or in the final stages of wedding planning, this episode will help you ask the right questions so you can hire your wedding photographer with full confidence in both their work and their process.

In the final part of this three-part Contact to Contract Series, wedding planner Jillian Pohlman of Jillian Marie Events walks us through everything that happens after the consultation: how to follow up without being pushy, when to send the contract, how to communicate payment schedules, and what to do once someone actually books. This is where many wedding professionals lose momentum or accidentally create friction that causes couples to choose someone else. Jillian breaks down exactly how to keep the process moving forward while making it easy and pressure-free for couples.

Whether you're a photographer, planner, florist, DJ, or any other wedding professional, this episode will help you confidently move from "great consultation" to "signed contract and paid deposit." Learn why you should follow up only once, why contract expiration dates might be hurting you, why final payment should never be due on the wedding day, and how to guide new clients through next steps without overwhelming them. Remember: if they're going to book, they're going to book—your job is just to make it easy.

In this episode, I'm sharing my real, vulnerable story behind why I became a photographer and why I continue to be one. I'm sharing what motivates me in life and in business—from my faith to my family, friends, clients, pets, community, and health. My why behind being a photographer is so much deeper than because I love taking photos. While creating art is absolutely one of my favorite things to do... my career is how I get to utilize the gifts God gave me, serve others wholeheartedly, provide for my family, live with purpose & intention, and take care of myself so I can show up fully in everything I do.

If you're considering hiring me as your wedding photographer, just know that this is my heart as your photographer and always will be. It was the most freeing unplugged experience ever and I'm sharing all about it in this episode. From some of our favorite spots in Jackson to explaining the tug on my heart to be more connected with the world and less with screens... there's something here for you. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by your phone, notifications, and feel like you simply can't get away from the noise of the world, this is my love letter (more like my battle cry) to just freaking do it. Life is too short to miss out on the irreplaceable moments with your loved ones and unmistakable beauty God created.

I’m taking you behind the scenes of my own wedding planning process & day—what went beautifully, what I’d do differently, and the lessons I learned that might help you, too. From being late to our own ceremony, to wishing we’d booked day-after portraits, to balancing an intimate guest list with the celebration we really wanted—this episode is part reflection, part advice. Think of it as a voice memo from a friend who’s been there, sharing the honest wins and some regrets to consider in your own wedding planning journey.

At the end of the day, no matter what your wedding day looks like, it'll be beautiful because it's yours. Even though some moments were disappointing on my wedding day, it was still the best day of my life because I got to marry my best friend. The best part? Those disappointing moments have not once affected our marriage. I hope your wedding day is the best day of your lives, but even more so... I hope every day after is even better. Marriage rocks!

If you've ever been to the doctor for fatigue, were denied testing, and instead offered birth control... you aren't alone. In this episode, I'm sharing my 2 most recent experiences that pushed me to start seeing a naturopath to get to the root of my health. I am so grateful for the many amazing doctors out there who listen to us, are curious alongside us, deeply care, and educate us. This episode is just my personal experience and never medical advice.

If you're experiencing health issues, I want to encourage you to get curious. Ask why. Push for answers. And don't give up. You are worth fighting for and you are not crazy.

If you’ve ever thought stock photography was only worth pennies, this conversation will change your mind. In this episode of The Sundae Best, I’m joined by photographer and educator Aubrey Westlund, founder of Stock Photo Besties. After 10 years as a full-time wedding photographer, burnout pushed Aubrey to explore a new creative path—one that’s since allowed her to license thousands of images, build a sustainable business, and create consistent passive income.

Aubrey breaks down what stock photography really is, the difference between microstock and premium agencies, and how photographers can start selling the work they already have. You’ll learn:

How to get started with stock photography without quitting your current business

The types of photos that actually sell (hint: it’s not the epic hero shots you may expect!)

Why premium agencies pay hundreds for a single image—and how to get your work in front of them

The truth about AI-generated stock images and where the market is heading

How to build stock licensing into your workflow in just 20 minutes a week

Whether you’re curious about licensing, ready to add passive income to your photography business, or simply want to romanticize your everyday life through your camera, this episode is your roadmap to getting started with stock photography.

In this episode, I'm breaking down exactly what's in my camera bag for wedding days! From my journey with the Canon 5D Mark IV to the Canon R6 Mark II, I share why I made the switch to mirrorless and what actually improved in my work. I dive into the lenses I rely on, including why I shoot 90% of weddings with my 24-70mm f/2.8L II, and how I incorporate film cameras for a unique look. Beyond camera bodies, I reveal my complete wedding day gear strategy: dual memory cards for instant backups, my weather protection system, flash setup, and the emergency kit that prevents wedding day disasters. Whether you're building your first professional kit or refining your existing gear collection, this episode offers practical insights from four seasons of wedding photography experience. Discover which investments actually improve image quality and client experience, and which expensive purchases you can skip. All gear is linked in the show notes!
