Paul’s life was driven by one clear goal: bringing glory to God by helping
people come to know Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 9, Paul explains how he was
willing to adjust his preferences, build common ground with people, and live
with intentional discipline so that others could hear the gospel and live a life
that glorifies God.

This passage challenges us to consider how our own lives reflect that same
mission. If people matter to God, then the way we live, love, and interact with
others matters too. Take some time to discuss/contemplate three key lessons
from Paul about why pursuing God’s glory and people’s salvation is “worth it
for the one.”

feeling like it was out of your control and not knowing what to do? The battle
of this tension is often fought from an understanding and trust in God’s
sovereignty.

This is a new way of thinking for most people. According to 1
Corinthians 2:16, believers are given the “mind of Christ.” That means
following Jesus doesn’t just change our behavior — it changes how we see
everything: people, purpose, control, expectations, and even our role in others’
spiritual growth.

The message challenged us to understand:
• What we can do.
• What we can’t do.
• And how to trust God with what only He can do.

In Acts 2, we see that when people believed the Gospel, they didn’t wait years to respond—they believed and were baptized as a public and obedient step of devotion to God. Baptism doesn’t save us, but it shows something has already happened inside of us. It is an outward expression of an inward transformation—a way of saying, “My life belongs to Jesus now.”

But the adventure of something new also needs an understanding and a plan for what comes next. When we trust in Jesus, we begin a new life— but a new life requires new priorities. In Acts 2, the first believers didn’t just believe differently; they lived differently. They chose devotions that helped them stay deeply connected to God. When we begin a new life with Jesus, EVERYTHING changes. So how do we embrace new devotions to deepen our connection with a personal God?

changed. The title “Messiah” literally means the “anointed one” or the “chosen one”
sent by God to bring liberation. The title “Christ” also means the same.

The good news is that it is still the same today as it was 2000 years ago. When people
today come to realize that Jesus is indeed the Messiah who sets them free from the
penalty of sin, death and evil, their faith in him enables them to begin a new life with
Christ - having received his forgiveness and the power of a new birth.

God’s mission is still in effect and followers of Jesus are still the ones to bring hope to
our world. This week we will take a very hands-on and practical approach to applying
the message. In Acts 1:8, Jesus said, “You will be my witnesses….” While we’re not all
called to be evangelists, every Christian is called to share the Good News of Jesus.

How many hours have you spent searching for that perfect Christmas present
for the ones you love? Constantly seeing options, and constantly questioning
which one is the right option. Hoping and waiting for that perfect gift to make
itself known to you. Much like that, we are constantly searching in our lives.
Throughout every season of life, people are searching—searching for purpose,
peace, direction, hope, or the “one thing” they feel is missing.
In the same way, throughout generations the people of God were waiting and
searching for one thing above all else: the Messiah — the anointed one sent
by God to save the world. They waited through seasons of struggle, despair,
sin, and joy looking for the One who would bring salvation and restoration.
The Christmas story reveals to the world that Jesus is what the world has
been waiting for. He is that Messiah, the Christ, the One sent to bring light,
new life, and the presence of God into the world. The Gospels show us not only
what Jesus did, but what He still does in the lives of those who encounter Him.

by opportunities for joy — yet many of us still feel like something is missing. In
this message, we’re reminded that the joy we need isn’t found in holidays,
possessions, or perfect circumstances. Paul’s call to “always be full of joy in
the Lord” (Philippians 4:4) may seem unrealistic — until we realize that true joy
is not about what happens around us, but what’s happening within us
through the Holy Spirit. Christian joy is deep and beautiful. But in order to
really discover the Joy we need we must define it to understand it. Let’s use
this definition of joy for the next couple of weeks.

Christian joy is a good feeling in the soul, produced by the Holy Spirit, and
expressed through our life, as He causes us to see the beauty of Christ in and around the world.

<itunes:summary>As we step into the season of Thanksgiving and Christmas, we’re surroundedby opportunities for joy — yet many of us still feel like something is missing. Inthis message, we’re reminded that the joy we need isn’t found in holidays, possessions, or perfect circumstances. Paul’s call to “always be full of joy inthe Lord” (Philippians 4:4) may seem unrealistic — until we realize that true joyis not about what happens around us, but what’s happening within usthrough the Holy Spirit. Christian joy is deep and beautiful. But in order toreally discover the Joy we need we must define it to understand it. Let’s usethis definition of joy for the next couple of weeks.
Christian joy is a good feeling in the soul, produced by the Holy Spirit, andexpressed through our life, as He causes us to see the beauty of Christ in and around the world.</itunes:summary>

experience God’s faithfulness. From the Israelites’ journey in Exodus, we learn
that God doesn’t just want to deliver us; He wants to teach us to trust Him in
every step—through His direction, provision, and presence. This study invites
us to reflect on how God has revealed His character and proven Himself
trustworthy, even when life doesn’t make sense. Just like Israel, we are invited
to trust Him not only in our words but in our choices, our perspective, and our

When God is leading us into a new level of knowing and experiencing him, one of the
tools he will often use is a crisis of belief. Whether that crisis is caused by an
unexpected job loss, a blind-sided relationship breakup, a devastating medical
diagnosis, a financial setback, the loss of a loved one, loss of a home or some other
overwhelming situation for which we feel totally caught off guard, that crisis can disguise
the fact that there is a miracle wrapped inside of it. This is part of the journey of a
growing faith.

So is it any wonder that as God led the nation of Israel from slavery in Egypt to freedom
that he would use crisis after crisis to grow their faith along the way? You will discover
that this has a direct connection to every follower of Jesus since a crisis of belief and
the development of our faith go hand-in-hand.

for over 400 years, yet God’s power and faithfulness brought them freedom.
The miracles along the way weren’t just temporary solutions; they were
markers of God’s ability to redeem and restore any story. God instructed His
people to remember what He had done and to reveal it to future generations
so that faith would continue.

Our lives today are no different. Each of us carries stories of God’s faithfulness
—moments where He provided, redeemed, and restored. These memories are
powerful for our own faith, but they also become testimonies that strengthen
others when we share them. When we choose to both remember and reveal
what God has done, we pass on faith to the next generation and give glory to
the One who made it possible.
