There is a simple strategy to prepare for your post-work life. Interested in the details? We discuss opening a retirement account and making consistent contributions over time of at least 5% of your pre-tax income. The funds will grow throughout your working life and will be there for you when you either #1 Don't want to work fulltime anymore or #2 You can't work anymore.

By the way, do you know how to calculate your net worth? We use the strategies found in the book, THE MILLIONAIRE NEXT DOOR. Take your current age and multiple by your current annual salary and then divide by 10. Then take what you OWN (a home, savings accounts, retirement accounts, etc.) and subtract what you OWE (what is the remaining balance on your mortgage, or the balance on your student loans, or do you have credit card debt, etc.) Compare the two. How close did you come to your net worth calculations when you took what you own minus what you owe? I was off by a bit when I completed the exercise, but I have a clue and can work toward remedying the shortfall. Join us and let's discuss.

Then, add up the value of what you own (your home, your retirement savings, your savings accounts, etc.), then subtract your debts (What do you owe on your mortgage? How much do you owe on credit cards? What do you owe on student loans?) How close did you come to having your actual net worth match up to your calculations?
