This is a fifteen minute lecture format that goes through the beginnings of back pain treatment and where it has all gone wrong. Bad science has led to bad care and bad results. To improve our results, there needs to be a critical look at the history, methods and algorithm that is currently used in back pain care before we can begin down the path to an overhaul of the entire system.

From the basics of heat control in a moving disc to our process of keeping patients from needing repeat epidurals, this is an important episode as we hope to shift the conversation of spine health with an understanding of how discs breakdown to change how we preserve and protect them. At the end, we discuss how insurance companies can save our health system.

This week is a great episode as we interview physical therapist Shelley Lewis. She is a driven, compassionate professional who has really helped to form a lot of my views and opinions as we have gone through the years trying to fix patient's issues. As you will see, her latest advancement in stability will solidify the post-procedure therapy necessity in anyone’s mind who is fortunate enough to listen. We are on the brink of an explosive movement forward in stability management. Buckle up.

<itunes:summary>Get ready to continue the revolution! The bus is loading up with more and more listeners as we continue on this path to change how the world treats back, neck and shoulder pain!
Buckle up.

In this episodes we address the spirituality of a chronic pain patient. This is a resource for all chronic pain patients as they try to find meaning in a difficult situation. This is meant to provide hope to people who feel hopeless, comfort to the uncomfortable and give an opportunity for practitioners to have a spiritual impact on their patients without having a spiritual discussion. Direct your patients who are Christian to this episode to help them find meaning in pain.

<itunes:summary>As practitioners, we are asked to address the physical and mental aspects of our patients. But this is not the whole person.
Dr. Mike Scherschligt is the founder and executive director of the Holy Family School of Faith. Mike has a Doctorate in Sacred Theology (STD) from the Marianum in Rome. In addition to a Catechism series, he is the author of the on-line series, Faith Foundations used to certify catechists throughout the United States. In addition to his work training catechists and spiritual mentors, Mike leads a number of pilgrimages to the Holy Land each year as well as a Divine Mercy Pilgrimage to Poland and special Marian Pilgrimage to Lourdes, Spain and Fatima and Guadalupe, Mexico. Mike and his wife Sandy have five children and reside in the Kansas City metro area. Find more at https://www.schooloffaith.com

As we come towards the end of season 1, we present another insurance podcast and make the case for direct primary care. This is an ever changing world we live in, and the healthcare world is not just changing, but being forced into change. Dr. Gold presents the model he chose in this change and why. An entertaining podcast that is very timely.
