While this paragraph seems super serious, this book is hilarious and fun with its quick quips and amazing narration. Listen along as we fall into so many different emotions with Sam and Jonathan.

When they first meet the attraction takes them both by surprise and as they navigate the dangerous underground world of shifter mobsters they fall deeper for each other. The sex is intense from the very beginning and the action is explosive. This book is different but fun and we are excited to read more by Suleikha Snyder.

On the surface, this book reads more like a typical murder mystery as Selene and Aiden investigate the current unexplained attack in Brimrock and its potential connection to an unsolved murder from the past. But as they work together to finger out what is going on they also begin a budding romance. This book is totally a slow burn as we get all the early stages of a new relationship from coffee dates to drunken frolics in the snow. Unusual for a romance, we even get a super awkward disappointing sex scene. Don’t worry, as the murder mystery wraps up and the unexplained supernatural occurrences are solved, Aiden and Selene give it another chance and both finally get their sexy fireworks. It was fun reading such a different approach to the paranormal rom-com genre.

Surprise surprise when all 4 find their fated mates among the women in town and uncover a larger lot by their enemy Cyril. This story includes found family, insta-love, cinnamon roll heroes, and all the steamy scenes we could want! Don’t miss the final steamy scene, and our favorite, the “why doesn’t every dragon shifter book include this” dragon hoard sex scene.

This is our favorite Jeaniene Frost book yet! We cannot get enough of Ian and Veritas. This couple is seriously too hot to handle. We love all the tropes in this book: fake relationship, lost memories, false public persona, past trauma, and secrets! It is so nice to have two equally strong bad ass paranormals as the main characters. Veritas doesn’t need to be brought up to speed on the whole vampire/supernatural thing. And she can give as good as In when it comes to kicking ass. Their sex is literally an explosive force that destroys their physical surroundings. Ian is the sexy debauched vampire I want to spend a smutty month with! And drunk Veritas is my kindred spirit! We can’t wait to continue their story in the next 2 books.

It has been a while but we finally return to the Blood Bond Saga by Helen Hardt for Dante and Erin’s story. This whole book is a battle between logic and emotion, head versus heart, closely held beliefs against newly discovered information. Erin wants to accept Dante for everything he is but her heart and logic keep getting in the way, I mean vampires can’t be real right?!?!? There are some tough themes in this book, torture and abuse, lying by omission, using glamor to ‘protect’ someone from their own emotions. Dante and Erin have a lot to overcome as the series continues. One thing we can say, Helen doesn’t hold back on the sex in these books. The steamy scenes are plenty and very hot. Even with the vampires and werewolves and ghosts, the illogical way both Erin and Dante were acting during this honeymoon stage of their relationship is totally relatable.

This is our first ever rejected mate book and wow did we start out BIG! This book is just the beginning of the Shadow beast Shifters series and we are totally here for it. To say that a lot of this book is world building and background would be an understatement. But still, we got the beginnings of an interesting relationship dynamic. Mera is the pack punching bag and can’t wait to leave as soon as she can, but the pack isn’t ready to let her go. When she finally shifts and it is revealed that her mate is the pack leader's son Torin, despite all expectations, her life gets crazy real quick. Torin rejects her, she tries to escape and calls upon the power of their god Shadow Beast. Guess who shows up?!?!?! Right, so Shadow is unbelievably hot, but also seriously damaged and there is so much backstory we aren’t even given yet. Can we live in the library of knowledge? I have always had some difficulty with fated mates and this (new to us trope) really helps upend the idea of fate. We will be returning to this series and looking for more rejected mates books in the future.

123 - The Vow by Dannika Dark

In this book we follow as Melody tries to make a connection with a local tribal leader in Oklahoma, only to stumble across her friend’s older brother on an undercover investigation of recent deaths in the area. Lakota and Melody haven’t seen each other since they were kids but the sparks start flying immediately. We really enjoyed the tension of their situation, him undercover and her not supposed to know him. Lakota had some amazing qualities we have seen lacking in other shifter males; he was protective but respectful, he cared about her dreams and skills. The pie scene is absolutely worth bookmarking and coming back to again and again! Plus, who doesn’t love a story of falling for a friend’s older brother? We were not disappointed with this book and can’t wait to read more by Dannika Dark.

122 - Betwixt by Darynda Jones

We are excited to read another book by Darynda Jones after a much too long break. Betwixt gives us another story with a protagonist who has lost everything and is trying to rebuild her life. Defiance Dayne has inherited a mysterious house from an unknown lady who turns out to be her grandmother whose ghost is using a website for communication from beyond the grave. Defiance discovers her magic powers that have been hidden for 40 years and begins to find the person she thought was lost. Luckily a smoking hot handyman in a kilt lives in her new house and is around to give her a hand. Unfortunately, like in Midlife Bounty Hunter, our heroine doesn’t get the super sexy time we are hoping for but there is promise of some to come in the steamy, tense scenes between Defiance and Roan. We appreciate the way Darynda approached her ‘older’ (ha! she is only 44) main character. Unlike Brina in Midlife Bounty Hunter, Defiance does not harp on being too old or her body not working like it used to. Defiance is beaten down by what she sees as all her ‘failures’ especially her divorce, but as she starts to develop her powers and the people in her life continue to stand by her side she gains confidence and strength. We enjoyed this book and look forward to following Defiance and Roan as the series continues.

We loved watching Destiny rebuild her life in the quaint town of Southtown Harbor and find a new, adoptive family following the loss of her parents. Her relationship with Jack Donovon is tumultuous and not always beneficial to Destiny but in the end, she does what she does best and that is fix the stuff around her that needs fixing. We finished up the Caster and Claws series by Milly Taiden with the 3rd and 4th book for this episode. Taking place at the same time as the previous 2 books, we follow the “meet - rescue” of Astra and Blaze in Spellstruck in Salem and Selene and Jett in Surrendered in Salem. This set of twins is a bit more open and interested in their fated mate wolf shifters than the first set of Bishop twins. It made for two fun and sexy books to finish up the series. We discuss the hot sex scenes Milly is so good at writing. Also, our frustration with the disconnect between the models on the covers and the character descriptions from the books. In the end, this is a quick, fun, steamy series with four badass witches and 4 hunky wolf shifters!

When Heath, Prince of the Sídhe, first meets Simone at the motel she has been bound to by a curse, he knew she was his mate. And while Simone is very attracted to Heath and thinks that he is super hot (because he is), she is rightfully hesitant about his claim on her as his mate and their impending future together.
