Let it Shine

Many of us remember singing these words, perhaps as children in Sunday School: “This little light of mine; I’m going to let it shine. Hide it under a bushel? No! I’m going to let it shine.” Those simple lyrics carry a powerful Biblical truth. In Isaiah 60:1, God calls His people to action, saying, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.”

That light is Jesus Christ. He stepped into a dark world, took our sin upon Himself on the cross, so we could receive forgiveness, and eternal life could be ours. When we place our faith in Him alone, His light shines in us, not to be hidden, but to be shared.

The world around us is filled with people searching for hope, peace, and truth. God calls us to shine the light of Christ through telling others about Him. Let’s share the Gospel!

A World Without Darkness

The Bible ends with a powerful picture of hope. In Revelation 21:23, we’re told that in the new heaven and new earth, there will be no need for the sun or the moon, because the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. For those who trust in Jesus Christ, this is our future. A perfect place where sin, suffering, and death no longer exist, and where we will live in the presence of God forever. This hope is possible because Jesus stepped into the darkness of our world, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again in victory. Darkness did not win. Jesus did.

But until that day, God calls us to live as people of the light who share the hope of the Gospel with others. Let’s tell those around us about Who Jesus is and what He has done for them!

Be the Light

The same God who spoke light into existence is still at work today. Second Corinthians 4:6 tells us that God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” now shines in our hearts through Jesus Christ. That light changes everything. When we trust in Christ, God opens our eyes, forgives our sin, and fills us with hope that lasts beyond this life. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for us turned spiritual darkness into living light. And for all those who place their trust in Jesus, He gives the gift of eternal life. He shines through us so others can see the truth of the Gospel.

Ask God to use your witness to point someone to Christ. Be ready to share the Gospel.

Rescued from Darkness

The Bible tells us in Colossians 1:13 that God “rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son.” That’s not just poetic language. It’s a rescue story. Through Jesus Christ, we are delivered from darkness and brought into the light of God’s kingdom. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and secured our freedom. Darkness no longer has hold over us who have placed our trust in Jesus and Him alone. But there are many who don’t yet know the hope and forgiveness that Jesus offers. God calls us, as His ambassadors, to share this Good News with those who need the very Light of life that we have received.

Today, thank God for who He is and what He has done. Pray for opportunities to tell others about the salvation Jesus Christ offers. When God gives you those divine appointments, be prepared to share the Gospel!

From Darkness to Light

Many people are searching for direction, unsure which way to go. In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Jesus doesn’t just point us to light. He is the light. Through His death on the cross for our sins, He made a way for us to step out of darkness and into new life.

Following Christ doesn’t remove every challenge, but it gives us a sure guide and an eternal promise. When we place our trust in Him and Him alone, we can rest securely in this promise from Proverbs: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Today, let’s choose to trust and follow Jesus and look for opportunities to share the light of the Gospel with those around us.

Tell the World

The word "Gospel" translated from the original Greek literally means "good message" or "good news!" Well what has to happen in order to share good news? Well, we have to actually impart it to others.

You see, many Christians believe that they can share the Gospel merely through their actions. They do their best to live out what they believe. And that's wonderful! We absolutely should walk out our faith. We don't want to be a hypocrite that looks no different than the world. The Gospel’s changed us, Jesus has saved us, and we should live it out!

But we can't stop there. The message will be unclear—un-understood—if we don't take the time to tell others about it. First Peter two nine tells us, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." So let's learn tell others the Good News!

The Gospel is the Answer

How we think about the Gospel impacts firsthand if we share it or not. Do we really view it as Good News? What does the Gospel mean to us?

Well, when Jesus came back to Nazareth during His ministry, he visited the synagogue, where He read from the scroll of Isaiah. And Jesus then fulfilled the very prophecy he read: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” When we acknowledge that the Gospel is the way to heal our land, bring freedom to captives, and give a treasure of matchless worth to the poor, our actions change quite dramatically.

So then let’s bring this Good News to the poor, sick, and hurting world around us. The Gospel is the answer. And it is Good News for all who hear it!

The Gospel is Good News

Years ago, my neighbor's wife asked him for a divorce. I saw how much he was hurting. So one night, I told him, “Bill, I put my trust in Jesus, and it completely changed my life.

It's the most important decision I've ever made. And Jesus can do impossible things—even heal broken marriages.” Bill looked at me and said, “Either you’re a liar, or you hate me.” Well, I was really taken back. He said, “You know, you’ve lived next to me for 5 years and never said anything about Jesus. If this really changed your life and can change mine, well then why haven’t you told me?”

I begged him for forgiveness—and then I shared with him about Jesus. Bill put his trust in Christ and it changed his life too. Let’s not to buy into the lie that no one wants to hear the Good News. The Gospel is powerful and essential.

Don't Believe the Lie

John Piper said, "The Gospel is the Good News that the everlasting and ever-increasing joy of the never-boring, ever-satisfying Christ is ours freely and eternally by faith in the sin-forgiving death and hope-giving resurrection of Jesus Christ."

So why is it that nowadays there are many churches who act like this Good News isn’t that important to share? Well, many Christians have bought into the lie from the enemy that sharing will lead to angry confrontation. So we then neglect to share the very Good News that has changed our lives. We convince ourselves that no one wants to hear it. Well, let me encourage you with this today: I’ve shared the Gospel worldwide to people of all different backgrounds, cultures, and ages.

And very rarely have I had anyone react with anger. More often than not, the person I share with thanks me for taking the time to share.

Forgotten Good News

Do you ever have times when you walk out the door, and you realized you’ve forgotten your keys?

Or have you gone on vacation only to realize after you've left that you forgot your toothbrush? Now, these are somewhat silly things to forget. But in the Bible, there were often times when prophets, apostles, and disciples had to remind the people of what God said in His Word because humans can be...well...forgetful! Our attention gets taken by so many things, and we forget the important truths that we have already been told. And the truth is that the church has internationally forgotten something important:

We have forgotten that the Gospel is, in fact, GOOD NEWS! It's the love of God shown through what Jesus did on the cross for our sins. And the whole Bible shares of the Father’s deep love for humanity as well as His desire that all would hear the Gospel.

A New Thing

There are moments in life when it’s hard to see what God is doing. Circumstances can feel uncertain, and the future may seem unclear. Yet God speaks words of hope to His people in Isaiah 43:19, saying, “See, I am doing a new thing; now it springs up, do you not perceive it?” Even when we don’t recognise it, God is actively at work, bringing transformation and renewal.

The new thing God is doing in us is all because of Jesus. Through His death on the cross, our sins are forgiven, and through His resurrection, new life is made possible for us. When we place our trust in Christ for salvation, through the Gospel, God gives us lasting hope for today and eternity.

God does not intend this hope to stop with us. He calls us to share the Good News with those around us who are searching for meaning and peace.

A New Future

It’s easy to get stuck looking backward. Past failures. Past pain. Past mistakes. But God calls us to lift our eyes, to set our minds to seek the things above.

In Isaiah forty-three verse eighteen (43:18), He says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” God doesn’t want our past to hold us captive. Through Jesus Christ, our past is forgiven, our guilt is removed, and our future is secure.

Jesus took our sin upon Himself on the cross and rose again so we could walk in freedom and newness of life. When we place our faith in Him, we are no longer defined by what was, but by who He is.

If God has freed you from the past, share that freedom with others. There are people around you who need to hear the Gospel — that forgiveness and grace are available today through believing in Jesus Christ ALONE.

The Hope of Heaven

In a world filled with uncertainty, many people wonder what comes next. Pain, loss, and change remind us how temporary this life can be. But for those who trust in Christ, the Bible offers a powerful promise.

In Isaiah sixty-five seventeen (65:17), the Lord says, “I will create new heavens and a new earth.” God is preparing something far greater than anything we experience here. For believers, Heaven is not wishful thinking. It is a certain hope secured by Jesus Christ. Through His death on the cross, our sin was fully paid for, and through His resurrection, eternal life was made possible.

Because Jesus lives, those who trust in Him can face the future with confidence, knowing that after this present life ends, as citizens of heaven, our dwelling place is with God.

This hope is too important to keep to ourselves. Every person will spend eternity somewhere, and God calls us to share the Gospel so others may share the same hope we have.

Jesus Brings True Peace

Our world is searching for peace. We see it in our neighbourhoods, our cities, and even in our own homes. People talk about peace, but so often what we find is division, fear, and unrest.

The Bible reminds us that true peace doesn’t come from agreements or good intentions. It comes through the person of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:13-16 tells us that Jesus came to create something new – to bring peace where hostility existed.

Through Jesus Christ, we are first brought into peace with God. On the cross, He took our sin upon Himself, and through His resurrection, He made a way for forgiveness and new life.

As beloved in Christ, God calls us to share this message of peace with others. Changed lives change families. Changed families change communities. And through the Gospel spreading person to person, true peace is brought to humanity.

Join what God is already doing and look for opportunities to share Jesus with those around you.

The New Has Come

Have you ever wished you could start over? A fresh page. A clean slate. Maybe you’re carrying regrets from last year, or even from years ago - things you wish you could have said or done better!

The good news is, God specialises in new beginnings.

In 2 Corinthians five-seventeen (5:17), the Apostle Paul declares, “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” Did you hear that? “The NEW has come.” Through Jesus Christ, God offers forgiveness for our sin, healing for our brokenness, and new life that begins now and lasts forever.

Jesus died on the cross and rose again so we could be made new, not by our effort, but by His grace. When we trust in Him, our past no longer defines us.

Our future is secure in Him. If God has made your life new through Christ, don’t keep that hope to yourself.

Share the Gospel today! — the message of new life through Jesus ALONE — with those around you today.

Merry Christmas! Today, we celebrate Jesus' birth! We’re gathered with our loved ones, exchanging gifts, reading Luke two and other passages that tell about His coming. Today, our hearts are full of joy as we remember the best gift this world has ever received — the Messiah, come to save us from our sins. But the final picture of the Christ of Christmas that I want to share about today is the Christ after Christmas — Jesus offering a fulfilling and everlasting life to all who would put their trust in Him. And that impacts every day of the year, and every year of our lives until one day we go to be with Him in heaven.

The Christ of Christmas; Make Room For Jesus

"So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them." - Luke 2:4-5

That night, the promised Messiah was born into the world. He showed up just like He said He would—in the line of David and town of Bethlehem...and yet, there was no room for Him in the inn. While Bethlehem was sleeping, the Savior was born. Now can that be said of us too? Are we asleep to the fact that there is a Savior who loves us? Are making room in our hearts to accept Him as Lord and Savior?

The Christ of Christmas; The Shepherds and Angels

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. On one starry night, long ago, a baby was born in a manger. The angel describes this infant to the cowering shepherds as their "Savior... Christ the Lord!" Now, I imagine these Jewish men did not expect the King of Kings to come as a baby. But after they went to see Jesus, lying in a manger, their natural response was to go and tell everyone. This Messiah came for you and me too, to save us from our sins and make a way to have a relationship with God.

The Christ of Christmas; A Righteous and Just King

When we picture Jesus as a baby, wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger, perhaps our first thought of Him is not as a powerful and victorious King, Who reigns forever and ever. Jesus is this mighty King will do what is just and right in the land by making every creature give an account of what they’ve done and demanding justice for every evil thought and deed. The reason He came to this earth as a baby was to live a perfect life. And then Jesus who knew no sin took our sin upon Himself and paid the penalty for it on the cross. And now, all who place their trust in Him can have a relationship with God.

The Christ of Christmas; Prince of Peace

Peace. The longing of every heart. Every time I read the story of Jesus' birth in Luke two, the angel's song resonates with me: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" Now, I don't know about you, but our world could definitely use some peace. In fact, angry, turbulent, sinful human hearts cause all sorts of chaos. And that's why Jesus was born—to heal broken, sinful hearts. The Prince of Peace came to bring forgiveness for sins and peace to human hearts. He offers eternal life to all who would put their trust in Him alone.

The Christ of Christmas; O, What a Saviour

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

Have you heard this verse before? Have you thought about it in the context of Christmas? Now, you might be thinking, "Well...that's a very strange thought. While we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we’re thinking about His death?"

Well, yes…you cannot separate those two events because it's the very reason Jesus was born. Jesus—who is both God and man—lived an absolutely perfect life…died on the cross for our sins. Why would he do that? Well...it's because He loves you. And that love is so deep, that He would sacrifice His very life for you. When Jesus hung on the cross, He cried out, "Tetelestai," which means "the debt is paid." The Bible says, "The wages of sin is death..." And Christ paid it. All we must do is put our trust in Him.

The Christ of Christmas; The Word became flesh

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.[…] The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” - John 1:1, 14

What a picture! God, the Creator, who’s always been and always will be, spoke and created the universe with His voice. The infinite, powerful God of the universe...the very Word — Jesus — became flesh and dwelt among us. He is glorious, full of grace and truth. And truly, we need grace. There’s not one of us that can stand before a holy God. The Bible tells us: "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." And this is why Jesus came…lived the perfect life we couldn't. He offers his sinless life for our sinful ones, if only we would put our trust fully in Him.

The Christ of Christmas; The Virgin Birth

"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” - Isaiah 7:14

It was such a glorious miracle that even today, over two thousand years later, people marvel at its fulfillment. Isaiah prophesied to Israel that their Messiah would be born of a virgin (that prophecy was over seven hundred years before Jesus came!). Jesus' birth was a miraculous fulfillment of what God promised the world—that "He would send His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him will not perish but have everlasting life." That eternal life is offered today to anyone who repents of their sins and believes on Jesus. He took the penalty for our sins and exchanged His perfect life for our imperfect ones.

The Christ of Christmas; Miracle Worker

"Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert." - Isaiah 35:5-6.

When we celebrate Christmas, it's important for us to remember who our newborn King is. He fulfilled over three hundred different prophecies—showing that He was powerful, everlasting, and divine. Jesus fulfilled many times over this prophecy from Isaiah about being a miracle worker. All four gospels of the Bible record miracle after miracle that Jesus performed. He was showing the people of Israel who He was — the Messiah. He died on the cross and rose from the grave, taking the sins of all those who believe and giving them eternal life.

The Christ of Christmas; Human Likeness

"He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain." - Isaiah 53:2-3.

John writes in his gospel, "The Word (Jesus) was with God and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us..." If God becoming a human wasn't amazing enough, he also chose to come as a baby born in a manger that first Christmas morning. He reached adulthood and walked a road of rejection and suffering for us. Isaiah wrote this prophecy seven hundred years before Jesus stepped foot on this earth. While we were yet sinners, Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He rose again and is in Heaven now offering us the free gift of eternal life.

The Christ of Christmas; O Little Town of Bethlehem

Truly, the night Jesus was born in Bethlehem and fulfilled Micah's prophecy, our hopes for salvation and fears for judgement were answered in the form of God coming to earth...to live a perfect life and to suffer and die on the cross for our sins. In the quiet, little town of Bethlehem, the everlasting Light of the world came to us. All we must do to receive the gift of eternal life is to place our trust in Him.

The Christ of Christmas; Immanuel

During His time here on earth, Jesus fulfilled over three hundred different prophecies. One of these is the prophecy that Immanuel, which means God with us, would be born of a virgin. Luke records the fulfillment of this through the angel telling Mary that she would bear Jesus, even though she was a virgin. Jesus' fulfillment of Isaiah gives us confidence that He truly is our powerful God and is faithful to His promises. And do you know what He promises those who believe in Him? That we would be saved from our sins and welcomed into the family of God.

The Christ of Christmas; The Glorious Angels

"Peace on earth"...that is certainly what most people strive to find. We spend our lives searching for things to fill the hole in our heart that lacks joy, hope, and peace. Well today, I have good news, just like the angels had for the shepherds. And the Good News is this: in the city of David, a Savior is born…He is Christ the Lord. The Christ of Christmas; Herod’s Decision

When Christ's birth was proclaimed, there were two distinct reactions. The first was like the Magi who gathered up treasures and set off to worship the newborn King. The second was like King Herod who was disturbed at the news. Why, you might ask? Well, King Herod was interested only in himself. And truly, we’re all faced with this same decision when we meet Jesus. Will we place our trust in Him or rely on ourselves? Well, let me urge you, place your trust in Jesus.

The Christ of Christmas; The Magi

The Magi are known for journeying to Jesus after seeing the star announcing His birth. In Numbers 24, there is a prophecy that "a star would come out of Jacob.” Well, the Magi waited and watched the sky for generations. And the minute they beheld the star, they gathered up precious treasures; and they traveled about two years to find the Messiah, the one who saves His people from their sin.

Zechariah had a very special point of view in the Christmas story. He was a high priest, the father of John the Baptist, and the uncle of Jesus, the Messiah—the Son of the Living God. God blessed Zechariah with the gift of prophesying what He was doing for the people of God: that He had raised up a horn of salvation... the Savior, Jesus. And you know, the Bible says that when we place our trust in Him that we’re adopted into the family of God. We are redeemed from the debt we owe from being sinners.

The Christ of Christmas; Mary’s Faithfulness

When I read this passage in Luke, I can't help but be in awe over Mary's faith. Here is a teenage girl who sees an angel…is told that she will bear a son! It must have been quite a shock! But Mary responded in great faith; and the world received the greatest gift — a Savior, Christ the Lord. The truth is, all humans are sinners; we cannot save ourselves. But Jesus became flesh and dwelled among us; and his birth, perfect life, death, and resurrection has given us a way to be forgiven.

The Christ of Christmas; David the Guilty

"This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David....." - Matthew 1:1

When you hear of King David in the Bible, you may think of David and Goliath, or you may think of David, the musician, or even David, the man after God's own heart.

Now while David was all of those things, the truth is he was also an adulterer and a murderer. You can read the whole story in second Samuel eleven. When confronted with his grave sins, the prophet, David tore his clothes, wept, and repented. He turned to God for forgiveness. David, the sinner, was named in Jesus' line — Jesus, the Messiah...sent to save us from our sins.

You know, we all sin and fall short of the glory of God, but Jesus has made a way for us to be forgiven. And all we must do is put our faith in Him and Him alone.

Jesus is King

Throughout the course of human history, there have been many corrupt kings. But humanity has continually sought a perfect ruler who will bring peace to our lives and communities. However, a fallen people enslaved to sin are unable to produce anyone who can do this.

And more than ever, we are constantly dealing with anxiety, depression, and great fear about the future. But did you know that once we put our trust in Jesus, we get to know the King of Kings personally?

Ephesians one tells us that after His resurrection and ascension to heaven, Jesus is seated at the "right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule, authority, power and dominion..." (Ephesians 1:20–21)

Our everlasting King is powerful! He conquered sin and death, and all who put their trust in Him alone receive the gift of eternal life as well as peace and joy found only in Him. Who will you share this with this week?

Jesus is our Refuge

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble. Therefore, we will not fear..."

These powerful verses from Psalm forty-six remind us of a key truth found throughout God's Word—when we become a child of God, Jesus is our refuge. In fact, the last thing Jesus told His disciples before He ascended into heaven was, "...surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." There may be many things we fear or battle.

I want to encourage you: Find your refuge in Jesus. He will be your Rock, your Fortress, your Bulwark when storms come your way. You can rest in Him. And knowing this important truth changes everything.

It gives us the strength to do what Jesus asked His disciples to do before He told them He will always be with them: "Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations..."

Jesus is our Healer

In the New Testament, Jesus performs miracle after miracle, healing the lame, the sick, and the blind. He even raised His friend Lazarus from the dead! Christ has the power to heal us physically, but the biggest miracle of all is that Jesus heals us spiritually.

Psalms one hundred three (103) says, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not his benefits, He forgives all of our iniquity, who heals all of our disease..."

Physical illness is one of the awful side effects of sin coming into the world in the Garden of Eden. And the curse of sin has caused this world and everything in it to decay. However, Jesus has compassion for the sick and the hurting. Through His death on the cross, He offers anyone who puts their trust completely and firmly in Him healing from their sin, and complete healing one day in Heaven.

Let us share the Saviour's love with those around us.

Jesus is our Lord

When we share our faith with another person, it is always important to ask not only if they desire to receive Jesus as their Saviour but also as their Lord.

After Jesus' resurrection, He appeared to His disciples before ascending into Heaven and told them in, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me."

Jesus is God—He is part of the trinity—and as such, He has dominion and power over everything. We should find security that our all-powerful, almighty God has this authority in our lives. I always find it helpful to picture driving a car. When we have trusted in Christ, we don't give Him the passenger seat or the back seat or the trunk!

If He is truly our Lord, He takes the driver's seat and drives. Proverbs tells us, "In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path."

Jesus is our Saviour

In Matthew sixteen, thirteen to sixteen, Jesus had asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied that some thought he was one of the prophets.

And when Jesus asked, “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” And you know, to this day, people are still asking that very question: "Who is Jesus?" And being that Jesus is God, the answer to that question is too big to answer in one minute or an hour or a day.

Today, I would like to start with this: that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. He came from Heaven to earth, lived an absolutely perfect life, and died on the cross for our sins.

He rose from the dead, and is in Heaven now, offering the free gift of eternal life to anyone who will put their full trust in Him.

Jesus is our Saviour!

In Spirit and Truth

When it comes to worshipping God, our heart matters. Our worship in a community of believers will only be as beneficial as our attitudes are sincere. Scripture gives us numerous "attitude checkpoints" by which we can examine our hearts to make certain that we are ready for worship.

John wrote in John four that "a time [...]has now come when true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." And if the Spirit is in us, He will convict us and grow us as we worship God through Him.

Our humble cry should be, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Our humble, joyful, attentive attitudes in worship matter to God. So, as we meet together with our church this weekend, let us come with the right attitude and worship our amazing Lord in Spirit and truth.

Hear the Word

Central to every worship service should be the reading and proclaiming of the Word of God. This part of worship is non-negotiable—we need to be filling ourselves up with more of the Bible.

When we hear Scripture as part of our community worship, we hear what God would say through His servant to comfort, encourage, warn, and rebuke us. And this truly demands our solemn attention.

In Nehemiah chapter eight, we see an example of the Word of God being preached in a worship service.

Ezra, the priest, read the Law of God from daybreak until noon, and the people of God listened attentively. It says that at the end of Ezra's reading, " he praised the Lord, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, “Amen! Amen!” They then bowed down and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground."

Let us also be a people who value God's Word and worship Him when we hear it.

Sing to the King

Do you like to sing praises to God? Now, I know some of us aren't professional singers, but singing is an important part of Christian worship. Paul said that when we’re filled with the Holy Spirit, singing will come naturally as an expression of our joy.

In Ephesians 15:19, Paul writes, "be filled with the Spirit [...] singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart." You know, King David is a perfect example of the Holy Spirit causing us to worship through song.

And as a leader, he was very concerned about the people of God singing in their worship services. Our hymns of worship should have a singular purpose to them: and that is to thank and praise the Lord for all He has done. He truly is worthy of all our praise! So what are we waiting for?

Regardless of our abilities, let us create time today to sing to our King!

Worship the Creator

As we look this week at how we can grow spiritually through worship, we should consider how many of the Psalms were originally written for Jewish worship services. In Psalm ninety-five, we read that we worship God because He is the "great King."

"In His hands are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The seas are His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land."

And because God made this world and everything in it, the psalmist instructs us that we should bow down in worship and "kneel before the Lord our Maker."

And it always leaves me in awe when I think about how our Creator has also created a way to redeem us from our sins—that the Creator Himself became a man to live a perfect life, to die on the cross for our sins.

So today, let us worship Him—our Creator and Lord!

Prioritising Fellowship

Charles Spurgeon said, "Some Christians try to go to heaven alone, in solitude. But, believers are not compared to bears or lions or other animals that wander alone. Those who belong to Christ are sheep in this respect, that they love to get together. Sheep go in flocks, and so do God's people."

We will not be able to grow in fellowship until we first develop our minds and spirits to be committed to fellowship.

In Philippians two three (2:3), Paul tells us, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourself." And this is exactly how we should think concerning other believers. We need to cultivate thoughts of valuing them.

And we need to prioritise edifying and encouraging them. And Jesus is our prime example of this—He met and associated with all kinds of people, and loved and grew them through meeting together.

The Local Church

Meeting together with your local church—which is an extension of the church worldwide—is so very important. Each local church is unique in that it’s both the process and product of the experience of Christian fellowship.

That is, the local church is both the place where fellowship is developed and expressed and an example of our Christian fellowship to the world. And there are many ways our fellowship in Christ can be nurtured through the local church.

In Acts chapter two, we see an example of believers meeting together to break "bread in their homes," and they "ate together with glad and sincere hearts." What a picture to their community of how Jesus brings us, His children, together in unity.

And through that example, they told others about Jesus; and Acts two records that there were people coming to Jesus every day.

Giving what we are given

The Bible teaches us that everything we possess has come to us because God gave it to us. First Corinthians four seven (4:7) says, “What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?”

Our responsibility with our possessions is to use them as God’s stewards — using them, that is, as He would Himself. In Acts chapter two, we see a picture of the early church selling their property and possessions to make sure that any need was met. They had open hands and hearts with all that they owned. This is an expression of Christian fellowship in the church: sharing what we possess.

And as we do, we receive opportunities to point others to the One who gave us everything in the first place—our Saviour, Jesus Christ. What are some ways you can give what God has given you?

The Body of Christ

In first Corinthians, Paul uses the imagery of a body to paint the picture of what the church should look like. If the entire body of Christ was made up of just ears, what could we do? Well, we would be really, really good at listening, but not much else. We couldn't reach out with a hand to help or go anywhere with our legs. And if we didn't have ankles and wrists and shoulders, it wouldn't much matter that we had feet and arms…! And anyone who has ever broken their big toe knows it's almost impossible to walk...just by missing one toe!

Now, it may seem like I'm being silly, but there are important truths to this. You see, we need each other. And we need the church to serve together. And every believer is important to the work Jesus has given us. With this in mind, let's spur each other on to work together so the world will know that we have a Saviour in Jesus!

Unity in Christ

Charles Spurgeon said, "Satan always hates Christian fellowship; it is his policy to keep Christians apart. Anything which can divide saints from one another he delights in.” You know, our fellowship together results from our belonging individually to God through faith in Jesus Christ alone. His Spirit has come to live in us, and He provides for us a strong unity with one another.

Ephesians four three (4:3) says, "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Let's not buy into the lie that meeting together as believers is not important. Instead, let's prioritise coming together and edifying one another in the works that God has given us to do as the church. That’s accountability!

And fellowship will grow us individually and collectively. And as we spur each other on, we’ll be faithful to tell others about our wonderful Saviour.

Believe and Rest

Are you exhausted all the time? Where is this exhaustion coming from? Could it be from a lack of belief in God?

Sure, you believe in God, but the Bible says even the demons believe in Him - so what's the difference? Can you rest in your belief in God? Hebrews chapter 3 and 4 talk about entering God's rest. Chapter 3 says that we're not at rest because of our unbelief. Chapter four says 'whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.' If you truly believe in Jesus, you must stop trying to earn your way into heaven and accept that what Jesus did for you was enough to cover your sins for eternity.

What in your life are you most proud of? Are you proud of your career? Education? Family name? Money? If your identity is found in anything other than what Jesus did for you on the cross, you've missed it! You'll never truly experience joy if you rely on yourself or others to bring contentment.

Sarah, who shared her testimony on whatsmystory.org, says she found her identity in her accomplishments and became very depressed when she failed to succeed. One day, she cried out and said, "Lord, dig me out of this hole I'm in!" She says she began a journey with the Lord, learning about His unconditional love and found that her need to be validated by anything outside of her relationship with Jesus kept getting smaller! Now she has peace and abundant life! Fix your gaze on Jesus Christ.

True Peace

Kenny was lying in the trauma room of a hospital as he said - and believed - those words, that Jesus loves him no matter what. Kenny had run for years from the Lord, despite God's relentless pursuit of him. Are you sure you're going to Heaven after you take your last breath on earth?

Maybe you made a profession of faith when you were a child, like Jay. He said that at 6 years old he accepted Jesus but later in his 20s, he had some doubts. He says he's so thankful for the assurance of salvation he was given when another believer came alongside him and guided him through Scripture. He said he knew for certain that he was going to Heaven because of God's Word and a faithful servant. Jay says, 'Whether 6 or 80, the same gift of eternal life is made available for anyone who truly desires that relationship with God through Jesus.'

Take comfort, and find rest in the salvation of the Lord. All you have to do is call on His Name and repent of your sin - Jesus has paid the price!

Remember, it is the Gospel itself, not our clever answers or power of persuasion that is the “power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes.”

When you encounter an objection to your Gospel presentation, the goal is to deal with the objection as simply and quickly as possible and then continue with the Gospel. Two keys to remember are first, to research their question and return with an answer: Tell them, “That’s a great question. Can I do some research and get back to you on that?” Then continue with the Gospel before making an appointment for a future visit. If you’re able to respond to the objection on the spot, do so quickly and get back to sharing the Gospel.

With a bit of knowledge, many common objections can be answered quickly. I hope this helps you as you share life today.

Assurance is to be sure of something that is certain and true. The assurance of salvation is critical for every believer. First John five verse thirteen reminds us that the Bible was written in order that we KNOW we have eternal life. Yet, for some believers, that truth is just not sealed in their hearts. If you have friends who have placed their trust in Christ but they remain uncertain about the promise of eternal life, a wonderful Bible verse to share with them is John six verse forty-seven.

In fact, if you have your Bible handy, turn to the verse and say to them, “This is what Jesus says.” Then ask them to read it out loud. “Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.” That verse is very clear that he or she who trusts in Christ HAS eternal life, which in the Bible always means Heaven. I hope this helps you as you share life with your friends today.

I remember the first semester of Evangelism Explosion. We began to share our faith and lo and behold, we started to see people come to Christ. Well what do you do then?

One of the first keys to growth in a new believer’s life is Bible study. So, consider starting a Bible study support group. The support group would offer valuable sharing, caring, counsel and prayer and should focus on the basics of the faith. Meet once each week for six weeks. Keep it to an hour-and-a-half. It may be more comfortable to meet in the new believer’s home, which provides a familiar setting for them.

Such a group will help the new believer adjust and identify with your church. And it’s a wonderful way to include others in your church or life group to help disciple a new believer which is something they may never have done before.

A Trialogue

When we share our faith with another person, we are engaging in a trialogue – a three way conversation. Those three are you, the person with whom you are sharing and the Holy Spirit. Make no mistake – the Holy Spirit is the most important on that list.

So, there is verbal conversation taking place as you do your best to share the Gospel with your friend. Along with that, there is some non-verbal communication taking place. This is why prayer is so valuable to witnessing. We depend upon the Holy Spirit to help us – to witness – to communicate effectively.

And we depend upon the Holy Spirit to bring understanding to the person that’s hearing the Gospel. The famous Charles Spurgeon summed this up very well: “We speak the Gospel to the person’s ear, and the Holy Spirit transports the Gospel from the ear to the heart."

Pattern

Home builders follow a pattern. It’s called a blueprint. Chefs follow a pattern. It’s called a recipe. Over-the-road truckers follow a pattern. It’s called a map.

Patterns provide design and order and structure. Even the apostle Paul used a pattern in his spiritual teaching. “Follow the pattern of the sound teaching you have heard from me” is the instruction that he gave to his student, Timothy.

When it comes to explaining the Gospel to another person, a pattern is very important. The Gospel is not just my testimony or talk about my church. The Gospel is a Biblical explanation as to why Jesus, and what He did on the cross, is so very important to that person. ShareLifeAfrica (SLA) has an effective presentation of the Gospel that we teach people so they can be effective in sharing their faith. To use Paul’s words, it is a pattern of sound teaching.

Witnessing

Have you ever met one of those “impossible people.” It was the first time that I had the opportunity to go out to witness to someone for Jesus Christ. And I don’t know why, but I was convinced that I would never see anyone come to Christ in my presence.

I thought that’s the kind of thing pastors do or someone else who’s certainly more prepared than me. And this was heightened by the fact that when we knocked on the door, I think every other syllable that we heard was a curse word. If ever there was a person you would have said, ‘there’s no way this person is coming to Christ’ this would’ve been the guy.

But I’ll never forget that night, sharing Jesus with this man and seeing him kneel and accept Christ as Lord and Savior. Since seeing this happened in his life, I mean to tell you there’s no greater joy. If you’d like to be part of seeing people come to Christ, even seemingly “impossible” people, then we want to help you do that.

God's great love

When Jesus shared the parable of the Prodigal Son, He told us of a strained relationship between a kind Father and his wayward son. Ultimately, the Father welcomed his son back with open arms! Romans five verse ten (5:10) says “For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!” You see, that's the Father’s great love. He loved us so much, that He sent His one and only Son from Heaven to die on a cross in our place. We were reconciled through Jesus.

So, what can we do to love others as God has loved us? Well, where were you in life when you first came to Christ? Do you know anyone else in that same place who needs to hear about His great love? Ask God to give you opportunities to share the Gospel of reconciliation and love!

You know, the truth is that just that first attribute of love – patience – is so hard to live out! Kindness and selflessness doesn’t come easily, either. The Biblical definition of love is very hard to live out. But don’t worry, God didn’t give His Word to perfect people who love perfectly. God gave us the Bible to show us His love for us. For "while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." That’s selflessness. That’s enduring.

So, how do we follow Christ and love like He does? Well, we can start by sharing with others the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His great love for them.

A noisy cymbal

You know that noise your smoke detector makes when it needs new batteries? It causes some annoyance and anxiety, doesn’t it? No one wants to be around that screeching! You know, sometimes we can be just like that loud noise that no one wants to hear. The Apostle Paul says we can do very good things, but if our words are not spoken out of love, it’s just a bunch of noise.

So what is love? Now, I’m not talking about romantic love. That’s a fleeting emotion that won’t be consistent throughout time – it’s certainly not unfailing. I am talking about the unwavering, unfailing love of God. First John says we love because He first loved us. Without the love of Jesus, we’ll never know what true love is.

Can you imagine never knowing the love of God? Friends, this is why it's so important that we make sure that we’re spreading the love of Jesus to everyone we can.

God's Love builds bridges

Do you realize that God is in the business of reconciliation? After coming to know the Lord, Sunny and Roshna learned to share their faith through EE classes and immediately began sharing the Gospel. They were converted to Jesus from their former religion, and do you know where they started sharing the Gospel?

Well, at their former place of worship! Roshna said as they shared their testimony, you could hear a pin drop! The name of Jesus was being preached, with love, in a place His Name had never been. If that’s not bridging the gap, I don’t know what is! Jesus’ love bridges the gap between our sinfulness and God’s righteousness. Aren’t you glad that through Him, we can have Eternal Life because He made a way for us?

There are so many stories in the Bible where Jesus urges us to bridge the gap and reconcile sinners to God. So let's make it a priority to do just that.

True Love

"What would you say true love is?" You’ll get many answers in return and an opportunity to ask them, "Can I tell you about how I have found the greatest love I have ever experienced?"

This can lead to a spiritual conversation where you can share your testimony of when you received Christ and understood God’s love. His love is different from human affection because it is unfailing, sacrificial, and never-ending. He showed it clearly through sending His only Son to earth to live the perfect life we couldn't and die in our place.

Through His sacrifice, we have an opportunity to accept what He has done and be forgiven of all of our sins. What an amazing gift! And He offers it to all who would believe.

Carry your Cross

Hudson Taylor said even though he endured great hardships and tragedies in his lifelong mission work in China, "I never made a sacrifice." He counted all the riches of this world (or even the basic comforts) as a loss in gratitude for Jesus' sacrifice.

In Matthew sixteen, Jesus told His disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." You see, we carry our crosses in gratitude to Jesus! And through the hardships, we tell others the Good News of the Gospel. In Lebanon, a family came to know Jesus. And when the people of their village heard, they started persecuting them.

But both they and the Christians who led them to Jesus started sharing about Christ, and the village deemed that their faith was not dangerous and accepted them with peace. Many more have come to saving faith in Jesus since then.

There's a phrase I’ve heard Christian comedians and pastors use as a joke: "If that doesn’t light your fire, your woods wet!" Well, joking aside, it's actually a sobering statement.

You see, they’re talking about motives, and our motives matter to God. If we are operating in our day-to-day lives for our own sake, we’re missing the purpose God has for us and we aren't living in gratitude for what He has done. When we truly understand the cost of what God paid for our salvation, thankfulness comes first. God comes first. And His glory and commission to us to share the Gospel with every creature becomes vitally important.

Gratitude and Grace

Did you know that gratitude goes hand-in-hand with grace? It makes sense when you think about it! The definition of grace is "the undeserved favor of God." Romans three twenty-four (3:24) says that we "are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."

You know, the natural response to a gift as big as the undeserved grace of God towards us—a people who chose rebellion against our Creator—is gratitude. And if it wasn't, there would be something seriously wrong! Have you witnessed a new believer be on fire for God? You can hardly contain them from telling everyone around them about what God has done in their life! "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!"

"Gratitude is an offering precious in the sight of God, and it is one that the poorest of us can make and be no poorer but richer for having made it." This quote by A.W. Tozer shares an important truth about thankfulness—it has great power.

A grateful heart is not only valuable to God, but it also makes us quite different from most of humanity. Before having a relationship with Jesus, all of us were dead in our sins. And there are many who still operate that way and need to hear the Good News of the Gospel. It goes against our sinful natures to be thankful.

But when we look outside of ourselves and realize that the grace and mercy that God offers, we don’t deserve, we become thankful. Because this is the Father's love for us—that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

So let's be salt and light in a world that desperately needs to hear the Gospel. Who can you share with?

What is the nature of our ministry? You might ask, "Vincent...what do you mean by that?" Well, every day we have a choice.

We can either walk in joy, peace, and thankfulness or spiral into frustration and discouragement. And let's face it: life is busy. And in the busy-ness we can easily lose sight of what's important. And perhaps the highest calling that we’ve been given is to share the Gospel with others—and to do it with gratitude to God.

We should model ourselves after Paul, who labored for the Lord with a thankful heart. Because true gratitude causes action. And to be thankful, we can’t just sit around. We have to give back or pass it on! And when we share the Gospel with others out of gratitude to God, others will see that thankfulness radiate from our hearts.

So let me encourage you today, look for ways to share the Good News of the Gospel with others!

Purpose and Meaning

Everyone needs real hope, including today’s teens. This was Bryr’s testimony that he shared with us on what’s my story dot org: “Before I received eternal salvation, I struggled with anxiety... In Secondary School, I’d have anxiety attacks because I felt different. I was smaller than the other boys, and I couldn’t understand why—or how—to be happy in my own skin. [...]

But God placed amazing people in my life who led me to Christ. Through Him, I found purpose and meaning. I no longer suffer from anxiety. I now see that being different isn’t a flaw—it’s part of God’s design. I’ve learned how to use the gifts He gave me to share His Word.”

Bryr found purpose and meaning through a relationship with Jesus and now shares that with others. So let’s disciple the teenagers in our churches to do the same—because you never know who in their lives needs the very same hope only found!

The Ripple Effect

When you disciple a teenager to share their faith, you don’t just impact one life—you begin a ripple effect. I mean, think about it: one equipped teen can reach dozens of friends. They can disciple those friends the same way they were—by teaching them how to grow in their faith and share the Gospel with others.

And then those friends go out and do the same—it’s multiplication! But discipleship doesn’t happen by accident. It’s intentional. It’s time spent talking with teens, walking them through resources, having practice conversations with them, and praying through fear. It’s reminding teens that sharing the Gospel matters and that others need to hear it. And when they get it, watch out.

Because teens don’t just talk—they act. They invite. They post. They pray. They go. But they need someone to show them how. And that someone might be you. Who’s the teenager in your life that needs to be equipped? Let's not miss this opportunity.

Have you ever heard it said that evangelism is better “caught than taught”? Well, it’s true! So when it comes to equipping Christian teenagers, we must actually do what we say we believe. If we’re not living lives marked by bold, loving Gospel conversations, why would they?

Discipling teens to share their faith begins with showing them how it’s done and walking with them as they try it for themselves. And that’s why we at EE are so passionate about On-The-Job training, where a trainer shows what having a Gospel conversation is like. And training a teenager to share their faith is about helping them see people the way Jesus does, giving them courage to share the Gospel, and reminding them that the Holy Spirit does the real work.

The 19%

According to Barna research, only 19% of Christian teens say they’ve personally been discipled in how to share their faith. That’s right...less than one in five. And meanwhile, teens are navigating complex cultural conversations every day — conversations about identity, justice, truth — without knowing how to bring Jesus into them.

And if we don’t disciple them, the world will and already is. Discipling teens to share their faith isn’t just a “nice-to-have.” It’s essential. And they can absolutely be incredible witnesses for the Kingdom of God. First Timothy four twelve (4:12) says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because of your youth….”

Let's equip the young people of our church, walk with them, answer their questions, and show them how to talk about their faith confidently.

A Young Mission Field

In our high schools, Christian teenagers are surrounded daily by friends and classmates searching for identity, hope, and truth. Samuel's Prayer

When we learn to share the Gospel, we become part of something eternal. This past September, Samuel walked into our ministry’s Uganda office. Homeless, jobless, and abandoned, he’d spent nights on the streets of Kampala, desperate and hopeless. He told us, “I thought about ending my life so many times…I just needed someone to talk to.”

That’s when he met Francis. Francis listened, and then shared the Gospel. In just 25 minutes, Samuel surrendered his life to Jesus, tears streaming down his face. He received a Bible, prayer, and a bus ticket home. And just four days later—Samuel got a job offer out of the blue!

Today, he’s working and growing in his faith at a local church in his hometown. God works through believers to bring hope to people like Samuel. But it is our job to be ready to share!

Follow God's Leading

When we ask God for opportunities to share the Gospel, He answers—sometimes in ways we don’t expect. One evening this past September, a young man in Kenya who learned how to share his faith felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to speak with two young men from a nearby village. He had recently been to one of our evangelism trainings, where he learned exactly how to share the Gospel clearly and confidently.

As they sat together, he asked them two diagnostic questions, and one believed he was saved, while the other trusted in his good works. But after hearing the Gospel, both realized their need for Jesus. That night, they prayed to receive Him as Lord and Savior!

When we ask God for opportunities to share the Gospel, He will answer us. So, I’d like to challenge you today...ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to someone who needs the Gospel, and then follow His leading!

Jesus Saves

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes. Last August, in Kasungu, Malawi, a young girl was moments away from taking her own life. But God had another plan. Evance, who had just learned how to share his faith, heard about her situation and went to her home.

While others were trying to reason with her, Evance brought something more: the Gospel. He gently asked her two questions about if she knew if she was going to Heaven and what she’d say to God if He asked her why He should let her in. She broke down in tears. Right then, Evance shared the hope found in Jesus—and she received Christ as her Lord and Savior. That day, her life forever changed. She gained hope and joy she did not have before.

And here’s the truth—there are also people around us who feel hopeless and alone. Like Evance, will we share with them?

Daniel's Prayer

Why is it so important to share the Gospel? Because right now, someone is praying for the truth. Daniel was one of them. He cried out to God, “Reveal Yourself to me—for my salvation and personal growth.” That very same day, Japhet—one of our EE trainees from Nairobi, who had just learned to share the Gospel—felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to speak to a young man standing alone at Heal Africa Hospital. That man was Daniel.

As they spoke, Japhet shared the Gospel. And Daniel, though active in his church, realized he didn’t have the assurance of eternal life. Right there in the road, he gave his life to Christ—and with tears in his eyes said, “God answered my prayer through you.” People are searching for hope. And God is calling us to go.

A Dangerous Christian

This week, we are hearing stories from Africa. And let me tell you...there are exciting things happening on this continent. Just this past year through evangelism training events, we saw over twenty million people make professions of faith in Jesus. And that happened through over one million believers learning how to share their faith—both adults and children.

These Christians were in churches, schools, and even prisons; and they began to share the Gospel and reach their communities for Jesus. You want to make a Christian dangerous to the enemy? Well, teach them how to share the Good News! The Bible says that the gates of Hell will not prevail against Christ's church.

Let's do the same as our African brothers- and sisters-in-Christ—let's take the Good News of what Jesus has done on the cross to our communities.

Fruitful Witnesses

It’s a fact—most people who love Jesus and embrace the Bible as God’s Holy Word never share the Gospel. I was in that same situation. I never thought anyone would listen to me, but God granted me the opportunity to see that spiritual light turn on in others’ lives as they made professions of faith in Jesus.

All it took was some tools and training that helped me share. And it’s not just me but millions of others also. One Vietnamese couple comes to mind. They’re from Canada. They attended Sunday services and Bible studies for years.

They are very involved in their church. But they didn’t know how to share their faith. After they gathered a few resources and some training to get started, it changed their lives. Other Christian friends saw this dramatic change too. Now they are faithfully, fruitfully witnessing.

Gentleness & Faithfulness

Have you checked off your Christian to do list today?

Barna Research did a study that shares that most churchgoers equate spiritual maturity with following a list of rules. But that's not what the Bible says at all! Instead, Jesus tells us to abide in Him to produce spiritual fruit. Spiritual maturity isn't measured by checking all the boxes—it's measured by the Fruit of the Spirit. And the Fruit of the Spirit is produced by the Lord working in us as we abide in Him! Lamentations three says that because of the Lord's great love we're not consumed - His mercy is new every morning, and great is His faithfulness!

The Lord is so gentle with us and faithful to us. So, instead of focusing on what you think will make you look like a better Christian, focus on the power of the Holy Spirit, and spread the Gospel gently and faithfully to everyone you can.

Patience, Kindness, Goodness

Isn't God good? All the time! All the time, God is good.

We also know that He is kind...and He is patient. Just ask Bill! Bill had been praying for decades for his sister-in-law to come to saving faith in Jesus. He patiently prayed for her heart to be softened, and she finally accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Talk about a celebration! You see, the Fruit of the Spirit includes patience, kindness, and goodness. This story shows us God's kindness and goodness, and His patient pursuit of our hearts! The Lord gave Bill patience to pray for his sister-in-law and the words to speak the Gospel to her. Romans two four (2:4) says it's the kindness of the Lord that brings us to repentance.

How can you be an example of patience, kindness, and goodness? Look to the Lord and His Word, and He will produce the Fruit of His Spirit in you.

Love, Joy, and Peace

Have you heard the old song, "I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart?"

Well, if you know Jesus then you can experience true joy! And you can spread it, too! When you placed your trust in Jesus alone, you've experienced the love of God; and there is true joy and peace in knowing where you'll spend eternity. Love, joy, and peace are part of the fruit of the Spirit; and we can use these God-given characteristics to lead people to saving faith in Him. Pio sent in his testimony on whats my story dot org, and he shared that before his brother led him to Jesus that he struggled with immense angry.

Now that he knows Jesus, he says his heart is full of peace and joy and that he can now share love and forgiveness with others! This, my friend, is the Fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Fruit of the Spirit

Have you heard of the "Fruit of the Spirit?"

Galatians five twenty-two and twenty-three(5:22-23) list nine characteristics of a Holy Spirit-filled life: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." When you look at the life of Jesus, you see every one of these qualities.

If you'll devote yourself to Him, you'll look like He does! If you're walking close to the Lord, you'll see the Fruit of the Spirit in your own life; and these traits will help you become an effective witness for Jesus!

Now, you may thinking, "how can I share the Gospel using the Fruit of the Spirit?" Well, think each one and use them in your actions and speech. Let your intentions be out of love, speak with joy, share His peace and be patient with those you share with.

Jesus Prayed for the Lost

Do you realize that Jesus prayed for you? Now, what did He pray?

One thing He prayed, the night of His arrest before Calvary, was this: “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” This is God's great mission! Right before Jesus was arrested, brutally beaten and killed, He prayed for the lost. He prayed that people would come to know Him - to be in Heaven with Him one day. Are you praying for the lost too?

If you're not, I would encourage you to start today! Make a list of ten people you know that need to hear about Jesus. And then faithfully pray for them by name each day. Do not be shocked when you see God answer! He may even do so by giving you the opportunity to share the Gospel with them.

Pray for Them

Who are you praying for? I'm sure that if you know Jesus, you pray regularly for your family and friends and maybe even some people that you don't personally know. But are you praying for the lost?

The Lord seeks to save us, and He hears our prayers. So if you're praying for the lost, He will answer for He desires all to hear the Gospel. Pray for them by name that they would be receptive to hear who Jesus is and what He has done. Pray that they will be given the opportunity to accept the grace of Jesus. And as you pray, don't forget to ask for Christians to be raised up to share the Gospel with the lost.

Matthew chapter nine says the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the field. Finally, let’s be willing to be one of those workers!

Pray to Revive

Have you ever prayed for a great revival? Have you given up praying for that revival yet?

There was once a 100-year prayer meeting - that's right, a prayer meeting that last one hundred years! The prayer was for revival, and it happened. The 100 Year Prayer meeting was held in Saxony Germany; and 65 years into it, the community that was praying had already sent out 300 missionaries! Not only did they devote themselves to prayer, but they were also willing to go out themselves and share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Don't give up praying with believers for revival to happen. Pray for the Gospel to be heard and share the Gospel!

Jesus said that where two or three gather in His Name, He will be among them. So, spend time in prayer with other believers and watch God move among you.

Purpose through the Great Commission

Did you know that God has a very specific purpose for your life? His last command to His disciples should be our first concern—to go and make disciples. However, when we hear this, I think sometimes we convince ourselves that this means we need to sell all we have and move to a different country to be a missionary for Jesus.

While that may be some’s call, what Jesus means is that while we are going…make disciples. Whatever we are doing in our day-to-day life, we should be focused on telling others the Good News. Oliver shared on what’s my story dot org: “I spend time with unbelieving friends weekly at orchestra.

I didn't used to put any significance on that time, but now I understand that it has a purpose--I have a Great Commission, and they are watching me. This informs the way I speak, the way I treat others, the way I act, and the way I work.”

Commitment At All Cost

“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross...”

These verses in Hebrews twelve clearly show us our greatest example of commitment at all cost, and that is our Savior Jesus. He endured trials and suffering for the sake us being saved. And we have the great privilege to tell others this Great News—that Jesus died on the cross for our sins,and purchased eternal life for us. We should be excited to do so! And yes, it can be scary—there can be a cost that comes with sharing the Gospel with others. But Jesus knew there would be a cost and it did not stop Him.

This week, we’ve been looking at how you can use the platforms that God has given us—our time, treasure, talents, and workplace—for His glory. And today, I'd like to add a final one, and that is your story!

Did you know that God has given you experiences that you can share to point others to Him? We call these God stories, and they come from any event that shows the Holy Spirit's power in our life. One of these, of course, is the testimony of how we came to Jesus; but we also have stories of how God is continuing to grow us in our day-to-day lives. These are powerful as well because they show how the relationship with Jesus makes all the difference.

Both types of God stories are important and great conversation starters for sharing the Gospel. So how has God been moving in your life lately? And who can you share that with?

Your Unique Talent

James one seventeen (1:17) says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father..." Did you know you have a unique talent that you can bring to the body of Christ?

It's true—we all have different God-given gifts that are important and can be used for God's Kingdom. And we should use these as faithful servants of God's grace to serve others as Peter reminds us in first Peter chapter four. We were given them for a distinct purpose of bringing glory to God and sharing His love. For example, let’s say you are a great cook, consider using those skills to prepare meals for those going through a difficult time and offer them that’s hope found only in Christ.

I knew a sand-sculptor who crafted sculptures related to the Gospel on the beach and stood around to talk to people about them. So whatever God has gifted you with—use it to serve both Him and others.

Out Giving God

"In all of my years of service to my Lord, I have discovered a truth that has never failed and has never been compromised. That truth is that it is beyond the realm of possibilities that one has the ability to out give God.

Even if I give the whole of my worth to Him, He will find a way to give back to me much more than I gave." Have you ever heard those words before? They were penned by the famous preacher, Charles Hayden Spurgeon. And his words could not be more true—we cannot out give God! All the treasure of this world is His anyway. And when we start looking at our money as God's, generosity takes a whole new level of meaning.

Let me encourage you today to start to seek ways you can give the resources God has given you to further His kingdom here on earth. This is one of the many ways we can use the platforms of our life for His glory.
