Welcome back to a non-boring #mubb offseason podcast in at least several years. We are back to talk all things roster as this most recent portal season draws to a close. We first talk about the incoming players and assess where and how they fit into the roster. We then talk players who've said and unfortunately an unexpected player to leave. We look at the whole thing together and the implications for the rosters next season. We close out with grades and looks ahead for the rest of the offseason. Enjoy!

It's officially official portal season for #mubb. Returners to the roster (majority anyway) have been announced so we discuss our excitement about who's officially returning. We then talk about who isn't returning (spoiler, we think those are positive too) and discuss what to make about the players on this roster of which there have been no mention whatsoever. Based on what's been announced and what we speculate about the unannounced players, we provide our recipe for a successful portal season with 3 known roster spots available. One other change we need to discuss is Nevada Smith leaving to head coach Siena. First of all, congrats coach we'll miss you but also please don't take your jar of magic beans with you. We discuss how Nevada's departure impacts the staff and program going forward and what we're looking for in a new staff member. Buckle up, this is the fun part. Enjoy!

This is the end....of the season

Well, the #mubb season ended kinda sorta like we thought it would. We spend a little bit of time talking about the Big East Tournament but pretty quickly pivot to the most important off season in the program since at least Covid. We talk about what the issues are, what we expect from Shaka, and what we would prescribe for the team to find success next season. We close out with an overview of the college basketball landscape that Marquette is competing in. There is no doubting the pod will be back somewhat frequently unlike offseasons of the past. Enjoy!

Happiest week of the season?

Well, we didn't see that coming but it made it all the more fun. #mubb goes 2-0 for the first time since the first week of the season which includes a bit of a stunner over #4 UCONN. #scrambledeggs breaks down the victory over the Huskies and spends a little time on the PC beat down. We then talk this week in Marquette history before turning to the conference tournament ahead, where anything can happen. While a long off season is staring us in the face, we're hoping much like the plague victim in Monty Python and the Holy Grail "I'm not dead yet". Enjoy!

The warning lights are back on

Well, we thought we were getting better and then DePaul showed up against #mubb. #ScrambledEggs is back and talking about a very up and down week. The most important result was how the team looked overall against DePaul which resulted in the first regular season sweep of Marquette in 4 decades. The first half was a clear return to the early season performances that had us all depressed. We try to process the week's results and also put it all into context with the upcoming off season. We also put a marker down for what we think next years team has to do to avoid a significant fan revolt and/or major changes within leadership. We then look at the week ahead and the odds of winning a game before closing out with memories and Markus Howard. Enjoy!

We Gotta Talk about the Upperclassmen

The #mubb season continues to trudge along with little green shoots that are generally overwhelmed by late game glitches and segments of incompetence. We kick off the pod not with a break down of the St John's game but evaluating the upperclassmen in general and the seniors specifically. This is brought on in reaction to commentary from Shaka Smart in his post game press conference. We then pivot to the Marquette moment in history which highlights the peak Buzz experience. We close out the pod with discussion on Dr. Strange's one path to an NCAA berth and the week ahead. Enjoy!

The one where the boys talk about evolving

Well, well, well. #mubb certainly threw out a bit of a bombshell this weekend(while letting X bomb 3s but pffffsssttt, whatever), in which Shaka and co reveal that the program is evolving. It is very heavily implied that that evolution, the portal is open for business. We spend a bulk of the pod discussing the report, the implications the program, and what impact we think we'll see this off season. As part of that discussion, we talk retention which leads us to discuss the teams performance over the last week. We then remember Chris Farley for happy times and close out with a preview of St Johns. Enjoy!

NMD win has us feeling a new feeling, positive trends

Well, #scrambledeggs took a break but #mubb did not. The team went 2-1 in games during the break and generally looked the best they've looked in 2026. We break down the player performances and game results and what the team seems to be building towards improved play. We then celebrate this week in MU history with a game that uplifted an otherwise sad season (sound familiar?). We then look to the week ahead and whether or not #mubb can continue the positive performances in February. Enjoy!

Green shoots of growth?

Welcome back to #scrambledeggs #mubb fans, we've got some growth (we think). Keep in mind the season is lost and we are viewing things through the lens of what do we have for next year but this past week was actually semi-fun for us. We talk about Nigel setting a freshman record in an improbable victory over Providence and the return of athletic Damarius Owens. For the MU memory this week, it's a special one that directly involved your podcast folks. Lastly we then turn to the next three games (SOMEONE is leaving for vacation and won't be on the pod next week) to talk about where, if anywhere, we can see a win coming. As always, enjoy!

The one where we talk about the future

Welcome back #mubb, it's another week of losses and conversations. We initially discuss the performance against St Johns and DePaul and search for positives (DO is turning a corner?). We then use that as a pivot into fan reaction to the team and potentially the most critical offseason in the modern era. We then look ahead to the Providence and Butler games to see if there is any hope this week for victories. I know things aren't good, but at least we have each other. Enjoy!

We're back with another #mubb podcast and you'll find that we aren't quite as depressed as before. We review the teams performance in a nailbiting win against Xavier that shouldn't have been nailbiting and a nailbiting loss to Nova which we were surprised was so close. We talk about this teams lack of clutch and transitioning to players who have more upside as young players than others who've started or gotten extended run the last two months. We then celebrate a fun memory in #mubb history that is very much part of the visual media that a podcast isn't. Then we turn to the week ahead and while we don't think winning in the Garden is possible, this team could put up some fight against DePaul, which would be nice. Enjoy!

Hey all, new year same #mubb. Team still struggles offensively and can't lock down defensively when they need it but generally speaking the play has been better the last week. We talk about mostly, the Seton Hall game from this past week to frame the team performance. We then talk about #mubb memories past and close out on one of the last few hopes to break the losing steak, playing Xavier at home. Enjoy!

Let's hope this is rock bottom for the season but that seems unlikely

Happy holidays #mubb and soon to be happy new year in 2026. We weren't planning to pod prior to this weeks games, wanting to take time off during Christmas and all, but well, the program had other thoughts. As I'm sure you are aware it was announced that Zaide Lowery is no longer with the team which while not good isn't entirely surprising. However, the way it was announced and then the program responded to a troll post has turned it into a whole thing. So we chat about that, then we talk the games this week. We close out the pod with a new and, we hope, fun segment for fans. Enjoy!

In some ways it was a new way to lose this season and in some ways it echoed previous #mubb loses but the Oklahoma loss was a tough one nonetheless. We have to chat through the results of that game but more than anything we are really using it as a context for evaluating where this season has gone wrong. We talk through expectations for the rest of the season, what we'd like to see the team do, and where changes can be made in season. We then preview Valpo and very half heartedly preview the Wisconsin game. Enjoy!

Another week, another tough loss for #mubb. We've officially adjusted expectations so now it's time to talk about what's working (not a whole lot) and what's not (fairly extensive list). We talk through the roster and what we're seeing from players and the prospects of improvement. We also talk changes we would like to see as this season shifts from target goals to avoidance goals. Timeless Mel Brooks comedy references aside, we gotta talk about #mubb. That game SUCKED and this podcast is officially joining the worry train for the season. Narrative trauma about losing to Buzz aside, the performance in the game was flat, then good, then great, then FLAT. We talk about what we saw in the game and what the overall trend in the season is making us to worried early. We discuss potential talent gaps and where the #culture can or will take us. We then reset seasonal expectations (they are low) and look at the week ahead. Unlike the game Saturday, we hope the podcast is something you can ENJOY!

That Sucks

Well, the start to the new #mubb season could have been worse, but not by much. Yeah sure, they won the buy games comfortably and had some fun along the way but the focus of the latest pod is the beat down in Chicago. Marquette had an early season challenge in facing a relatively unknown Indiana team, and to say they did not meet it is an understatement. We break down the game, what we think went wrong, and what of it is fixable. We also agree to mention the p word just this once and then we are never going to mention portal again this season. We do talk about positives, who/what do we like so far this season before turning to the week ahead. A critical buy game to get right and start fixing some of the issues, especially on defense before the only true big game on the non-conference home slate, Maryland. We break down the Maryland team, the Buzz of it all, and whether this becomes an early "must win". Tough start to the season, but we still hope you enjoy!
