I have had my sourdough starter for almost a year. Below is the recipe that I was given and use to make my own batches of delicious and nutritious bread.

Rustic Sourdough Bread

1 cup fed starter

1 1/2 c. lukewarm water

2 tsp. yeast

1 Tbsp. sugar

2 1/2 tsp. salt

5 cups flour of your choice ( you can mix an unbleached flour with a wheat flour for more nutrition)

Combine all and knead to a smooth ball. Let rise 90 minutes in oiled bowl. Divide into 2 loafs. Let rise in bread pans for 1 hour. Spray with water and slash design with bread knife. Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes.

For Starter: feed weekly

Combine 1/2 cup flour and 1/4 cup water. Stir and let rest for 24 hours. Use or refrigerate. If in fridge, take out and place on counter to bring to room temperature. Never put in a sealed container. Cover with a coffee filter or cheese cloth to let gases escape.
