Today’s episode is such a beautiful reminder that God truly is in the details. My guest, Michelle Wolf, is a mom of two who lives in Mexico. She chose homebirth for both of her babies, and while her first didn’t go the way she had hoped — including a difficult recovery after tearing — God used her second birth story to show His faithfulness in such a powerful way.

For baby number two, Michelle and her family traveled five hours to their midwife’s home, and once again, God showed up — not just in the timing of everything, but in His presence as He met Michelle in her fear of tearing again. This episode is a testament that God knows the desires of your heart because He’s the one who places them there. He designed birth with purpose and order, and when we follow His blueprint, blessings abound.

But before we dive into Michelle’s story, I have an exciting announcement to share.

Premature Rupture of Membranes is a very common cause of induction which leads down the cascade of interventions. While it’s not uncommon it can be frustrating when it happens 3 births in a row! Today my guest came on the show to share her story of the MAJOR difference in management of PROM from the hospital and then at home with a midwife.

Felicia is a mom of 3 and former corporate engineer turned stay at home mom who has spent the last 15 years walking down a path to a more natural lifestyle. I’m almost 2 years out from having my youngest baby. It’s crazy to think typically I’m pregnant when my babies turn 2. As I journey with first time homebirth moms I get to see them through so many stages from morning sickness, to joy in the second trimester and nerves in the third. But as a homebirth coach I am often working with women through their 4th trimester as well which is the first 3 months after a baby is born.

Big changes happen in the 4th trimester and one thing many women struggle with is how much their body has changed and looks different than before. It can be a huge adjustment and today I want to talk through some mindset shifts and practical ways I was able to navigate this with each of my babies in a Biblical perspective.

Ep 168//First Time Mom Homebirth Story | "This was all I knew!"

I love a good birth story and this one is so sweet! If I had a quarter for anytime I heard a first time mom say she’s going to birth at a birth center or hospital for the first one “just in case.” There is no “test run” in your childbaring years. Every birth is so different and deserving of love, care and respect. Each birth is different and each birth matters. My “test run” birth with my first baby which ended in a c-section, obviously set me up with a deficit in future births. And for 30% of women birthing in a hospital it’s also setting them up with a deficit as well. I’m seeing a movement of first time moms, like my guest today, make empowered and faithfilled decisions to birth at home and it makes me so excited! You are apart of the movement to make homebirth the FIRST option in our country! Changing cultural norms takes time but it starts with you and your family.

Let me introduce my guest to you all today: Olivia and her husband, CJ, had their first baby, Zara, in December of 2023, finding out she was pregnant shortly after their wedding and move to Nebraska. Olivia now stays home with Zara while still dabbling in her previous career as a journalist by freelancing from home. I have another homebirth story for you today! Samara chose to have a homebirth after experiencing 2 hospital births that weren’t exactly what she was looking for. She had a deep desire to homebirth and through a turn of events she pursued that option with her third.

Samara is a stay at home mama to three little ones, a 5 year old girl, a 3 year old boy, and a 10 month old boy. She loves to live a naturally minded life, from using toxin free products, to eating clean, organic whole foods. She does cloth diapering and EC, loves to baby wear, and chooses barefoot friendly shoes and natural fiber clothing. She likes to start her days focusing on God, and having quiet time in His Word. And both homeschooling and home birthing are important to her.
