This at first might seem like a beautiful message; that all are welcome, but in reality it stretches and challenges all of us to be welcoming and to share what we have with others. That has always been a difficult challenge for humanity. But our trust in God can free us to be generous to others.

Humility is required for faith. Faith is a miracle that God works in us. Faith is a way of knowing that is beyond, but does not contradict, the intellect. Intellect alone cannot grasp it, religious submission of will and intellect is required. But the real gift of faith is not only the knowledge that God reveals, it is also the presence of God in which we participate that lifts up our fallen humanity and joins us to the very life of God.

In the Catholic faith the Eucharist is Central. For others who don't share this faith it can sound like Catholics are misled, because of course to them Christ: His life, death, and resurrection are central. But the Christian faith is not about remembering a person who lived 2,000 years ago. It's about His presence still with us today, allow joining ourselves to be joined to him in body soul and spirit. This is because we are enfleshed spirits, not angels, it's the continued presence of Christ in our humanity that allows us to receive the Holy Spirit.
