Milkcrates & Microphones returns with season 2, episode 24 and were on the road recording our journey to Modesto and the 12th Annual Indie Fest for a live show, this is not that. This is us in the car talking shop and trying to solve Americas biggest issues, but before that matt brings the staple of the show with this week in hip hop, Nonsense hits us with Atmosphere's album from August 5th, 1997 titled "Overcast". After that we continue south on 99 through the central valley of Northern California and barely arrive alive at our destination of The Other Place. After we set up and get settled in we're able to grab Modesto native and promoter/emcee Cobalt45. We sit down with Cobalt for a few minutes before he had to get back to managing the longest running hip hop show in the central valley and find out what he's been up to and where to find him next. After that we hit the song picks and the outro, YOU do not want to miss this and next week we will release episode 50 the live show from The 12th Annual 209 Indie Fest with Live sit down's with some of the best artist in the 209 so stay tune!

On March 28, in the year of the lord 2000 New York rapper Common released "Like Water for Chocolate" and we listen to "the Light". Then we eat some sour ass T.H.C candies then proceed to talk about a bunch of shit we have no business talking about such as black hole and the stages of a star, parallel universes and outdated nuclear power plants. Then Nonsense tells his story of a close encounter with death that he had. We have a great debate about what is and whats not country music, and we completely disagree with each other. January 24, 1995 bay area rap star Too Short released the very influential record "Cocktails", we discuss how this record and Too Short in general affected the west coast hip hop scene. Then we get into the tournament thats loaded with an all star bracket minus a few of the obvious favorites. Followed by a throw it down Thursday freestyle session, Matt introduces a new segment called "feel the rhythm fill in the line" and well, lets just say it doesn't go exactly as planned. October 19, 1993 Eazy released "It's On (Dr.Dre) 187um Killa" and on that record was "Real Muthaphuckkin G's", a diss track aimed at DR.Dre and his protege Snoop Dogg. We listen to dre day and the find some interesting lyrics in real muthaphuckkin G's. Then the show gets halloween themed as we discuss what rappers would make good slashers and some slashers that might be good mumble rappers, rappers that people most commonly dress up as for halloween, can you say Flava Flav? We also go talk a little about our favorite halloween/horror movies, the movies that freaked us out the most when we were kids ( candy man, candy man, candy man) and the clever marketing of the Blairwitch Project.
