James Introduction: Who Wrote It, When, and Who It Was For

Who wrote the book of James, when was it written, and who was it for? This introduction to the book of James starts our new verse-by-verse Bible study series.

Before we read the first verse, we'll spend this episode on the background: which James wrote the letter, where it fits in the early church timeline, and what was happening to the believers who first received it. If we don't know a verse's context, we can be conned by it, so we start here.

Questions we work through:

Who were the "twelve tribes scattered among the nations"?
What problems was James trying to fix in these early churches?
Why does the way James introduces himself matter?
