The Doris Bither case, also known as the Entity haunting, was a 1974 investigation into alleged paranormal phenomena in Culver City, California, experienced by a woman named Doris Bither.

The case inspired Frank De Felitta's 1978 book The Entity, which was made into a 1982 film of the same name starring Barbara Hershey.

Doris Bither alleged that she was being attacked and assaulted by one or several invisible entities.

Barry Sherman, a prominent Canadian businessman and philanthropist, was found dead in his home on December 15, 2017.

The couple, Barry and Honey Sherman, were discovered hanging by belts from a railing surrounding their indoor pool.

The cause of death was determined to be ligature neck compression or strangulation, and there were no signs of forced entry into their home.

On February 9, 2004, Maura Murray a 21-year-old nursing student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, disappeared after a car crash on Route 112 near Woodsville, a village in the town of Haverhill, New Hampshire.

The Aurora, Texas, UFO incident reportedly occurred on April 17, 1897, when, according to locals, a UFO crashed on a farm near Aurora, Texas.

The incident (similar to the more famous Roswell UFO incident 50 years later) is claimed to have resulted in a fatality of the pilot. The pilot was "not of this world" and was said to be an alien.

The pilot was buried at the Aurora cemetery, and a stone was placed as a marker for the grave.

The Peter Bergmann case pertains to the mysterious death of an unidentified man in County Sligo, Ireland, in the early hours of 16 June 2009.

The man, using the alias "Peter Bergmann," had checked into the Sligo City Hotel on 12 June, where he stayed during the majority of his visit to Sligo.

The man's movements were captured on CCTV throughout the town; however, the details of his actions and intentions remain unknown.

His interactions with other people were limited, and little is known of his origins or the reason for his visit.

The mystery is often compared to the Somerton Man case in Australia, in which an unidentified man was found dead on a beach shortly after the Second World War.

Lars Joachim Mittank (born 9 February 1986) is a German man who disappeared on 8 July 2014, near Varna Airport in Varna, Bulgaria.

Mittank was on holiday at the Golden Sands resort, where he was supposedly involved in a fight and was unable to fly home with his friends for health reasons.

Mittank was documented acting strangely while alone in Bulgaria. He called home to his mother, claiming that people were trying to kill him. On the day when he was supposed to fly home, Mittank went to the Varna Airport to consult with a doctor.

He was later seen on airport security footage running out of the airport and towards an adjacent forest. He has never been seen since.

Aimee Jean Betro (born 27 August 1979) is a former American disc golfer, and criminal, convicted in the United Kingdom of attempting to carry out the contract killing of a shopkeeper in Birmingham in September 2019.

After striking up an online relationship with one of her co-conspirators, Betro travelled from the US to the UK in August 2019, and disguised herself in a niqab in order to carry out the assassination.

She attempted to shoot Sikander Ali at point-blank range, but her gun jammed, thus allowing him to escape.

The Monster Study was a non-consensual experiment performed on 22 orphan children in Davenport, Iowa in 1939 about stuttering.

The study was never published, and as a result was relatively unknown until a 2001 San Jose Mercury News article conducted by an investigative reporter, Jim Dyer.

He revealed the details and followed up with the former test subjects who were still living – none of whom were told it was an experiment.

A lawsuit took place and the seven test subjects from the "negative-reinforcement" group were awarded $925,000 by the State of Iowa for lifelong psychological and emotional scars.

Juliane Koepcke is a German-Peruvian mammalogist who specialises in bats. She is the daughter of German zoologists Maria and Hans-Wilhelm Koepcke and sole survivor of the 1971 LANSA Flight 508 crash.

When the plane was struck by lightning, she fell 3,000 m (10,000 ft) while strapped to her seat and suffered numerous injuries, including a concussion, broken collarbone, and a torn knee ligament.

She survived 11 days alone in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest until she located a lumberjack camp.

Gua was a chimpanzee raised as though she were a human child by scientists Luella and Winthrop Kellogg alongside their infant son Donald.

For nine months the Kellogg's raised the two as "brother and sister", and comprehensively recorded the development of the chimpanzee and the human child. When she was around one year old, Gua often tested ahead of Donald Gua was the first chimpanzee to be used in a cross-rearing study in the US.

Anthony John Hancock was an English comedian and actor.

Across his career, Hancock twice won the BAFTA Award for Light Entertainment Artist in 1958 and 1960.

He was later nominated for the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles for his performance in The Rebel (1961).

Spike Milligan said regarding Hancock, that he was a very difficult man to get on with as he used to drink excessively.

Hancock died by suicide by overdose, in Sydney, on 25 June 1968, aged 44. He was found dead in his Bellevue Hill flat with an empty vodka bottle and a scattering of amobarbital tablets.

In the 1970s, in Thornton Heath, England, a family was tormented by Poltergeist Phenomena that started one August night when they were woken in the middle of the night by a blaring bedside radio that had somehow turned itself on, tuned into a foreign language station.

This was the beginning of a string of events that lasted nearly four years.

The Cottingley Fairies are the subject of a hoax that purports to provide evidence of the existence of fairies.

They appear in a series of five photographs taken by Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths, two young cousins who lived in Cottingley, near Bradford in England. In 1917, when the first two photographs were taken, Elsie was 16 years old, and Frances was 9.

The pictures came to the attention of writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who used them to illustrate an article on fairies he had been commissioned to write for the Christmas 1920 edition of The Strand Magazine.

Eastern Air Lines Flight 401 was a scheduled flight from New York JFK to Miami. Shortly before midnight on December 29, 1972, the Lockheed L-1011-1 TriStar crashed into the Florida Everglades, causing 101 total fatalities.

Three of the four cockpit crew members, two of the 10 flight attendants, and 96 of the 163 passengers were killed; 75 people survived.

During the following months and years, stories began circulating that employees of Eastern

Air Lines, and numerous passengers, had reported sightings of the dead crew members, captain Robert Loft and second officer (flight engineer) Donald Repo, sitting aboard other L-1011s.

The Outreau case refers to a criminal case of paedophilia which took place between 1997 and 2000 in Outreau, a French commune in northern France.

The case involved the Delay family, Thierry Delay and Myriam Badaoui, who were investigated on claims of child abuse after their four sons were taken from the home and placed in care.

The case had a lasting impact on the victims and the town’s residents for the rest of their lives.

Balloonfest '86 was a 1986 event in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, in which the local chapter of United Way set a world record by releasing almost 1.5 million balloons.

The event took place on September 27, 1986, and was intended to be a harmless fundraising publicity stunt, but the balloons drifted back over the city, Lake Erie, and landed in the surrounding area, causing problems for traffic and a nearby airport.

The event also interfered with a United States Coast Guard search for two boaters who were later found drowned. In consequence, the organizers and the city faced lawsuits seeking millions of dollars in damages, and cost overruns that put the event at a net loss

The Flight 105 UFO sighting occurred on the 4th of July 1947, when three crew members aboard a United Airlines flight reported seeing multiple unidentified flying objects in the skies over the Pacific Northwest.

The incident was among at least 800 similar sightings in the United States within a few weeks in the summer of 1947, but the first report by professional pilots.

Japan Air Lines Cargo Flight 1628 was a UFO incident that occurred on November 17, 1986, involving a Japanese Boeing 747-200F cargo aircraft.

The aircraft was en route from Paris to Narita International Airport, near Tokyo, with a cargo of Beaujolais wine. On the Reykjavík to Anchorage section of the flight, at 17:11 over eastern Alaska, the crew first witnessed two unidentified objects to their left.

These abruptly rose from below and closed in to escort their aircraft. Each had two rectangular arrays of what appeared to be glowing nozzles or thrusters, though their bodies remained obscured by darkness. When closest, the aircraft's cabin was lit up and the captain could feel their heat on his face.

These two craft departed before a third, much larger disk-shaped object started trailing them

The Nazi gold train or Wałbrzych gold train is an urban legend about a train laden with gold and treasure that was hidden by the Nazis in southwest Poland during the last days of World War II.

Between 2015 and 2018, the train received renewed global media interest when two Polish men claimed to have discovered it using ground-penetrating radar.

However, excavations were halted when the detected anomaly was found to be natural geology.

Emma Fillipoff is a Canadian woman who has been missing since November 28, 2012. Fillipoff was last seen in front of the Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, at the age of 26.

Most evidence indicates she was planning to return home to Ottawa, but there was no proof that she ever left Victoria, and the cell phone she bought had never been activated.

She has never been seen since.

It is more common in children, who often outgrow it by their teenage years.

Sleepwalking typically occurs during non-REM (NREM) sleep, particularly in the deep sleep stage, and can lead to injuries if the person is not monitored.

While most episodes are harmless, they can pose risks, such as attempting to drive or engage in other dangerous activities while unaware.

The Isdal Woman: is a placeholder name given to a Norwegian unidentified woman who was found dead at Isdalen in Bergen, Norway, on 29 November 1970.

The Utah monolith was a metal pillar that stood in a red sandstone slot canyon in northern San Juan County, Utah, United States.

The pillar was 3 m (9.8 ft) tall and made of metal sheets riveted into a triangular prism. It was unlawfully placed on public land between July and October 2016; it stood unnoticed for over four years until its discovery and removal in late 2020. The identity of its makers is unknown, as are their objectives.

On the 13th of March 1997, Between the hours of 7:30pm and 10:30pm lights of varying descriptions were seen by thousands of people, in a space of about 300 miles (480 km), from the Nevada line, through Phoenix, to the edge of Tucson.

There were two distinct events involved in the incident: a triangular formation of lights seen to pass over the state and a series of stationary lights seen in the Phoenix area.

The United States Air Force identified the second group of lights as flares dropped by an A-10 Warthog aircraft that was on training exercises at the Barry Goldwater Range in southwest Arizona. Witnesses claimed to have observed a huge square-shaped UFO containing five spherical lights or possibly light-emitting engines. The governor of Arizona, Fife Symington, years later, said he witnessed this incident, describing the object as being "otherworldly."

The 1991 Austin yogurt shop killings are an unsolved quadruple homicide that took place at an I Can't Believe It's Yogurt! shop in Austin, Texas, United States on Friday, December 6, 1991.

The victims were four teenage girls: 13-year-old Amy Ayers, 17-year-old Eliza Thomas, 17-year-old Jennifer Harbison, and Jennifer's 15-year-old sister Sarah. Jennifer and Eliza were the shop employees, while Sarah and her friend Amy were in the shop to get a ride home with Jennifer after it closed at 11:00 pm.

A Y-chromosome match for the perpetrator DNA has been found in a research database of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) but it has declined to reveal the identity of the man by the law of anonymity for donors, and because thousands of men could bear this fragment of DNA, which is unable to identify individuals.

On the 11th of February 1979, five local men took the day off to go on a fishing trip in their seventeen-foot Boston whaler, the Sarah Joe, from the town of Hana, located on the southeast shore of the Hawaiian island Maui.

They were never seen alive again.

After a total of five days and seventy-three thousand miles had been covered, the search for the men was officially suspended, no trace of the Sarah Joe or the five men was found.

Then on the 9th of September 1988, pieces of the “Sarah Joe” were found on an island over 2000 miles away.

An unmarked shallow grave was also found on the island where the remains of one of the men were buried under a pile of rocks.

Samantha Lyndell Azzopardi is an Australian con artist who has been accused of many instances of conning families and authorities, not only in her native Australia but also in Ireland and Canada.

In May 2021, the Melbourne Magistrates Court sentenced her to two years imprisonment, meanwhile she has found herself the subject of many true crime documentary's.

On Saturday 26 November 1977, at 17:10 UTC, as ITN's Andrew Gardner presented a news summary where he reported on clashes in then-Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) between security forces and Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army, the TV picture wobbled slightly, followed by a deep buzz.

The Maury Island incident refers to claims made by Fred Crisman and Harold Dahl of falling debris and threats by men in black following sightings of unidentified flying objects in the sky over Maury Island, Washington, United States.

The pair claimed that the events had occurred on June 21, 1947.

"Bennington Triangle" is a phrase coined by American author Joseph A. Citro to denote an area of southwestern Vermont within which a number of people went missing between 1945 and 1950.

Precisely what area is encompassed in this hypothetical "mystery triangle" is not clear, but it is purportedly centred on Glastonbury Mountain and would include some or most of the area of the towns immediately surrounding it, especially Bennington, Woodford, Shaftsbury, and Somerset.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum was a psychiatric hospital located in Weston, West Virginia and known by other names such as West Virginia Hospital for the Insane and Weston State Hospital.

The asylum was open to patients from October 1864 until May 1994.

The lack of proper care and access to sanitation led to a large number of deaths at the asylum, while the official count of patients who have died in the asylum is not available, research is currently underway to determine an accurate count, Weston State Hospital expert and historian, Titus Swan, estimates the number to be in or above the five figure range.

The Rendlesham Forest incident was a series of reported sightings of unexplained lights near Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk, England, in late December 1980, which became linked with claims of UFO landings.

The events occurred just outside RAF Woodbridge, which was used at the time by the United States Air Force.

Sam the Sandown Clown was a strange being encountered by two young children vacationing at Lake Common, Sandown, on the Isle of Wight in the UK in May of 1973.

Following a strange sound, the two children wandered across a footbridge and met an odd unidentified creature that was described as "a cross between a clown, a robot, and an alien."

After a time, the strange creature seemingly disappeared and has never been seen again.

The 1948 Donora smog killed 20 people and caused respiratory problems for 6,000 of the 14,000 people living in Donora, Pennsylvania.

The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male was a study conducted between 1932 and 1972 by the United States Public Health Service and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention on a group of nearly 400 African American men with syphilis.

The purpose of the study was to observe the effects of the disease when untreated, though by the end of the study, medical advancements meant it was entirely treatable.

The men were not informed of the nature of the experiment, and as a consequence, more than 100 them died.

Adam Air was a privately owned airline based in West Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia. It operated scheduled domestic services to over 20 cities and international services to Penang and Singapore.

Its main base was Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta. Large numbers of pilots joined the airline when it was founded in 2003, but most of them quit years later over safety concerns.

Prior to its demise, the company was in serious financial trouble, with the company's owner (Sandra Ang) having allegedly embezzled the company's money, with the financial losses from the embezzlement reportedly amounted to approximately US$210 million.

Timothy Wiltsey was a 5-year-old boy from South Amboy, New Jersey, United States, whose mother, Michelle Lodzinski, told police that he went missing from a carnival in nearby Sayreville on May 25, 1991.

Almost 11 months later, his remains were discovered across the Raritan River in the marshlands of nearby Edison, near an office park where his mother had once worked.

Due to changes in his mother's account of how her son disappeared within a month of his disappearance, and her unemotional demeanour on the few occasions she spoke publicly about the case, she began to be seen as a suspect.

Margaret Ruth Kidder was a Canadian–American actress and activist, who amassed several film and television credits in her career spanning five decades, including her best known portrayal of Lois Lane in the original Superman films (1978–1987).

The Radium Girls were female factory workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting radium dials and watch dials with self-luminous paint.

After being told that the paint was harmless, the women in each facility ingested deadly amounts of radium after being instructed to "point" their brushes on their lips in order to give them a fine tip.

Dentists were among the first to see numerous problems among dial painters, with Dental pain, loose teeth, lesions, and ulcers, with many of the women developing anaemia, bone fractures, and necrosis of the jaw.

Dominique Ellen Dunne was an American actress, who got her big break starring as Dana Freeling in the horror film Poltergeist in 1982.

On the 30th October 1982, she was strangled by her ex-boyfriend, John Thomas Sweeney, during an argument on the driveway of her West Hollywood home.

She fell into a coma and died five days later. In a court case that gained significant media coverage, John Sweeney was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in Dominique's death, and served three and a half years in prison.

The Nahir Galarza case was an Argentine judicial process, officially called "Galarza, Nahir Mariana s/homicidio doblemente agravado", in which the 19-year-old Nahir Mariana Galarza was convicted of murdering her 20-year-old boyfriend Fernando Pastorizzo, at dawn on the 29th of December 2017, in the city of Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos, Argentina, where both lived.

The case was widely covered by both national and international media. Galarza was sentenced to life imprisonment for homicide, which was aggravated by the fact that she and Pastorizzo were under a stable relationship.

Genie Wiley is the pseudonym of an American feral child who was a victim of severe abuse, neglect, and social isolation.

Her circumstances are prominently recorded in the annals of linguistics and abnormal child psychology.

When she was approximately 20 months old, her father began keeping her in a locked room.

During this period, he almost always strapped her to a child's toilet or bound her in a crib with her arms and legs immobilized, forbade anyone to interact with her, provided her with almost no stimulation of any kind, and left her severely malnourished.

The 1930s Dust Bowl was the result of a period of severe dust storms that greatly damaged the ecology and agriculture of the American and Canadian prairies.

The phenomenon was caused by a combination of natural factors (severe drought) and human-made factors: a failure to apply dryland farming methods to prevent wind erosion, most notably the destruction of the natural topsoil by settlers in the region.

The drought came in three waves: 1934, 1936, and 1939 to 1940, but some regions of the High Plains experienced drought conditions for as long as eight years.

The Shag Harbour UFO incident was the reported impact of an unknown large object into waters near Shag Harbour, Nova Scotia, a tiny fishing village on the Atlantic coast, on 4 October 1967.

The reports were investigated by various Canadian civilian (RCMP and Canadian Coast Guard) and military (Canadian Forces navy and air force) agencies as well as the U.S. Condon Committee.

The Colt family incest case concerns an Australian family discovered in 2012 to have been engaging in four generations of incest beginning with a couple known as Tim and June Colt, who emigrated from New Zealand in the 1970s.

They all lived on a farm near Boorowa, New South Wales.

The family members' true identities remain unknown to the public, so the name "Colt" is a pseudonym used by New South Wales courts and government agencies.

The Springfield Three refers to an unsolved missing persons case that began on June 7, 1992, when friends Suzanne "Suzie" Streeter and Stacy McCall, and Streeter's mother, Sherrill Levitt, went missing from Levitt's home in Springfield, Missouri, United States.

All of their personal belongings, including cars and purses, were left behind.

There were no signs of a struggle except a broken porch light globe; there was also a message on the answering machine that police believe might have provided a clue about the disappearances, but it was inadvertently erased.

On July 8, 2020, American actress and singer Naya Rivera was declared missing after she failed to return from a boating excursion on Lake Piru near her home in California.

Shortly afterwards, her rented boat with her 4-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, was located. Dorsey was unharmed.

After her body was found, her death was ruled accidental, with the investigation determining Rivera exhausted herself saving her son's life in the water.

The public manner of the search and Rivera's celebrity status contributed to extensive media attention on developments before and after she was found.

Sylvia Marie Likens was an American teenager who was tortured and murdered by her caregiver, Gertrude Baniszewski, many of Baniszewski's children, and several of their neighbourhood friends.

The abuse lasted for three months, occurring incrementally, before Likens died from her extensive injuries and malnourishment in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Lena Hilda Zavaroni was a Scottish singer and television show host.

At the age of 10, with her album Ma! (He's Making Eyes at Me), she was the youngest person in history to have an album in the top 10 of the UK Albums Chart.

Later, she starred in her own television series, made numerous TV guest-star appearances, and appeared on stage.

However, from the age of 13, Zavaroni suffered from anorexia nervosa, and when she was aged 15, she developed clinical depression.

Following an operation to cure her depression, Zavaroni died at the age of 35 from pneumonia on the 1st of October 1999.

In June 1980, Alan Godfrey investigated the death of 56-year-old Zigmund Adamski, with his body eventually being found three days later on top of a 10-foot-high (3.0 m) Todmorden coal pile.

Godfrey told reporters that he believed it possible that Zigmund Adamski may have been abducted by aliens and placed on the coal pile "by someone or something", saying that he was "open minded".

Then six months later Alan Godfrey reported an unidentified flying object during this patrol, claiming he saw a bright light hovering above the road, describing it as a rotating diamond-shaped object.

After this encounter, Alan Godfrey believes that he was forced into early retirement from the police force.

On April 12, 2018, Steven Walter Pladl, a 43-year-old man from Knightdale, North Carolina, murdered his biological daughter, 20-year-old Katie Rose Fusco Pladl, with whom he had been engaged in an incestuous relationship, and her adoptive father, 56-year-old Anthony Charles Fusco, in New Milford, Connecticut.

He also went on to murder his and Katie's seven-month-old child, Bennett Kieron Pladl.

He later committed suicide in Dover, New York.

On 16 September 1994, there was a UFO sighting outside Ruwa, Zimbabwe.

Sixty-two pupils at the Ariel School aged between six and twelve said that they saw one or more silver craft descend from the sky and land on a field near their school.

Natalee Ann Holloway disappeared on the 30th of May 2005, and was declared dead on the 12th of January 2012.

She was an 18-year-old American high school graduate from Mountain Brook, Alabama, who disappeared from the Caribbean island of Aruba.

Her disappearance resulted in an international media sensation, especially in the United States.

Natalee Ann Holloway has never been found since.

The Oklahoma Girl Scout murders took place on the morning of June 13, 1977, at Camp Scott in Mayes County, Oklahoma, United States.

The victims were three Girl Scouts, between the ages of 8 and 10, who were raped and murdered.

Their bodies were then left on a trail leading to the campsite's showers, about 150 yards from their tent.

The case was classified as solved when Gene Leroy Hart, a local jail escapee with a history of violence and rape, was arrested. However, Hart was acquitted in March 1979 after a jury unanimously returned a verdict of not guilty.

However, different norms exist among cultures as to which blood relations are permissible as sexual partners and which are not.

There were three original versions of the video in the United States, totalling 36 missing children shown.

26 missing children were found after being featured in the video for the "Runaway Train" song, and as of 2022, the whereabouts of 10 of the 36 children who appeared in the video, still remain missing.

Cowboy Bob was an American bank robber who would cross-dress as a man to conceal her identity.

She robbed a total of five banks in Texas between 1991 and 1992 before she was caught by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Due to her never using a weapon during her robberies, she received a light sentence of 33 months.

In 2005, after living quietly for the past decade, she committed suicide by cop after police caught up to her escaping the scene of her final bank robbery.

The Byford Dolphin was a semi-submersible, column-stabilised drilling rig operated by Dolphin Drilling, a Fred Olsen Energy subsidiary.

Brian Randall Shaffer is an American medical student at the Ohio State University College of Medicine.

On the night of March 31, 2006, Shaffer went out with friends to celebrate the beginning of spring break; later, he was separated from them, and they assumed he had gone home.

However, a security camera outside the entrance to a Columbus bar recorded him briefly talking to two women just before 2 a.m., April 1, and then walking off-screen without any further evidence of him leaving the area.
