The Boating Industry Association is proud to present this podcast as another initiative to support and bring it’s members together. In sharing stories from those in the industry and giving updates on what the BIA has been participating in and what plans they have ahead, members can be further enlightened in another digital audio medium, which they can enjoy whilst out walking, commuting to work or even out boating. The aim of the podcast is for members to get to know each other better by sharing their stories and this in turn allows members to know who they can refer clients to for business once they understand the skills and knowledge of other members and what their businesses offer. The stories of these business owners and operators may also inspire others and give ideas to how they might solve problems int their business and how the BIA might support them going forward too. As an experienced host Nicky Vaux aka The Boat Princess delves into the interviews bringing useful information, great insight and often humour to the fore. Members are invited to review, participate and be involved in the podcast.

Understanding what Associations do and contribute to an industry can be a little mystifying unless you are actually in the room contributing and seeing it in action.

As an Association we are here to serve our members and to support them, and we felt a podcast where members share their stories and we talk in depth about what we have been doing, what results we have achieved and how we can support you is a medium which those that prefer to listen rather than watch or read whilst fitting in other tasks like driving, walking or even waiting for a plane can thus get to connect with each other in yet another way to our other initiatives in play.

There is an immense amount of knowledge in our industry amongst our members that we feel should be shared but our members also have great stories for us to learn from, gain another perspective from and best of all get to know so that when we have clients asking for a particular product or service we can refer them to a member that we know has the ability, the skill or the products that might suit them because we have heard in depth what they do on this podcast.

You see as members we should all be supporting each other - the best in the business understand it’s important to be part of a cohort that brings the industry together and makes is stronger as a result.

In this first episode of the Marine Industry Podcast powered by the BIA we dive deep into conversation with Shannon O’Brien of Sydney Harbour Kayaks and Neil Patchett - General Manager Public and Government relations of the Boating Industry Association. They’ve known each other for a while so the banter is real and the conversation is both informative and entertaining. The story about getting the Prime Minister on the phone is one you'll surely enjoy.
