They worked tirelessly to make sure these children received their treatments, regardless of lack of insurance or finances.

In 2004 thinking it was time to retire, they moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina. However, they felt that God wanted them to continue through Living with Victory Ministries, Inc. and have a podcast ministry called Living with Victory.

They want to share how God, through His Word, brought them and others through their storms, from bankruptcy to breast cancer and so much more. They feel, that because they have been through many storms themselves, knowing what it feels like to be afflicted and to know the hopelessness that can, at times, stop you from even praying. Laureen and Tony talk about their own storms in a very transparent way and the mistakes they have made. The couple want you to know that through reading God’s Word and learning to lean on and fully trust Jesus, who died and rose again, you can have Peace, Joy and Victory in the midst of your storms because “Jesus is your Umbrella!”

There are certain times of the year when we can feel extremely depressed and Christmas is one of them. We will be talking about the reasons you may be feeling depressed, but we will, also be turning the coin over to realize why this is the most joyous time of the year!

Depression. Even the work itself brings you down into the darkness. It depends on the state of your mind when you hear bad news, how far down and depressed you become. Despair, is even worse. It can bring you down to your knees and even deeper darkness that can keep you there felling like there is no way out.

We are celebrating by saying thank you to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit for giving us the honor to be a small part of their purpose.

Long Story Short:

In 1983 when God brought us to Orlando, Florida, we learned of a two-year-old boy who had Leukemia and was being sent home to die because he needed a bone marrow transplant. The parents weren't able to afford to pay. They had already lost their home and were barely able to keep their business afloat. This situation was completely new to us, so we did what we could. We started fundraising and advocating for the child.

The result was, the hospital decided to take him back and he is healthy with a family of his own today.
Dr. John Graham Pole, head of the bone marrow unit at Shands, said he had five more children who needed help. Would we be interested?

We knew we couldn't turn our backs on these children. Compassion Children's Foundation was born, a 501c(3) charity.

Dr. John Graham-Pole is a retired professor of pediatrics and affiliate professor of clinical and health psychology at the University of Florida. He has been a clinician, teacher and researcher for over 25 years in the field of childhood cancer.

In 1991 he co-founded Arts in Medicine (AIM) at the University of Florida, arguably the nation’s leading university hospital arts program. As well as over 120 scientific publications

Through Compassion God gave us the privilege to advocate for many families with seriously ill children for 25 years, praying for each child that God would show us the way to help them. Each child different and precious needing to be saved. The greatest enemy being time. We always felt we were trying to beat the clock to get these children in for their treatments on time. This was crucial. They only have a short window of time for the treatments to be effective. God never failed us. At times we were amazed at what was accomplished just by praying and obeying.

Looking back we wonder why God trusted us with such precious lives. He seemed to train us as we went along. Remember, we had no training for any of this. However, when you say "yes" to Him, be prepared to be amazed!

The pictures below were taken at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Tony was Santa. My Mom to his left was a volunteer. We let the kids and parents choose presents and we wrapped them. Even Laureen's mom in Santa's hat came along to help.

Moving to North Carolina, thinking we were retiring, God had other plans; He transitioned Compassion to Living With Victory Ministries, Inc.

Again, step by step, praying for His Guidance and Wisdom. "What would you have us to do now, Lord?" His answer, "Tell them Who I Am."

Our purpose now is telling everyone we can Who Jesus is and what He has done for us on the cross and the immeasurable love that held Him there for all of us. We want to give Hope and Encouragement and let everyone know that He is a Living God that can be trusted!

We are transparent in our messages; including the dumb mistakes we made throughout our lives and how God patiently brought us through to the other side, teaching us to trust Him no matter how hopeless the circumstances may look.

He will never leave you in your failures if you include Him in your decisions. He does order our steps and we are very grateful for that.

Jesus gives Forgiveness, Mercy and Love every day.

If we apply forgiveness, mercy and love to our circumstances that are causing us great fear, anger and anxiety, what a difference it would make in the peace we would attain while going through a storm.

It would change our perspective in how we see our circumstances and the people involved. We would be able to work through them WITHOUT FEAR, ANGER AND ANXIETY. We would be able to leave it to Him, knowing without a shadow of a doubt, that He and He alone is totally in control. That His Love for us is unmeasurable and that He is more than able to work all things for our good.

We must never forget and get so jaded that we do not see or realize the Love Jesus has for us. We must never ever forget the cross where He demonstrated a love that we cannot fully understand. If we could fully understand this Love how differently we would live our lives and see others with eyes of compassion and not judgement.

Psalm 71:2-3 AMC I don’t know what challenges you have had to face or are facing, just want you to know you don’t have to face them alone. When feeling overwhelmed and lost, seeing no way out, remember Jesus loves you with an immeasurable love. He has provided a way out as the above scripture says “cause me to escape.” While we are going through the most horrific experience of our lives, He will hide us in the cleft of the rock, while holding us up and give peace and joy.
The hymn “He Hideth My Soul” explains it so beautifully. He allows us to enjoy life even if the circumstances are currently “shadowing a dry thirsty land.” I find it interesting that the word shadow is used. A shadow isn’t real. It looks like it will overcome us but if Jesus is our Rock and Fortress, what have we to fear. He has us securely hidden and He is covering us with His Hand.
One of His precious promises is to provide rivers in the dessert. (Isaiah 43:19). As the hymn
says “He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock, where rivers of pleasure I see.”
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer ten years ago fear crept in. I had to make a choice, give in to the fear or stand on my Rock, Jesus. I chose to trust my Lord with my life. I can truthfully say the scripture and the Hymn I am giving you is one of God’s wonderful promises.
When we run to Him, He hides us in His love. in our Podcast, let us tell you the upside. While going for treatments we looked for people who needed hope and encouragement; doctors, nurses, patients we gave each of them a copy of Laureen's Climbing Out Of Your Despair With God's Promises. We usually carry some with us as an outreach tool.

Since December we have had our share of Alligators! most of it on the heals of the other.

1. Cataract surgery that did not turn out the way it should. and what followed was unreal.

2. Three of the family cars broke down at the same time. leaving us all with no transportation and costly to repair. Two cars where beyond repair had to be junked.

3. Came home from radiation treatments to a septic system problem.

These are just a few issues we have faced since this year started. At this writing we also have had two dear life-long friends who passed away within a few days of each other.

February 3rd, 1959 a plane carrying American Rock and Roll musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valense and "The Big Bopper" J.P. Richardson crashed near Clear Lake, Iowa. They were all Killed.
