In this episode, I discuss the concept of "the drift" and how it holds us back from reaching our full potential. I explain that the drift is a state of mind characterized by fear and a lack of direction. I identify seven fears that keep us in a drift, including the fear of poverty, illness, not being loved, getting old, death, criticism, and disappointing others. I emphasize the importance of self-awareness and making a conscious decision to overcome these fears in order to take charge of my life. I provide practical strategies for changing my relationship with fear and using it as fuel for growth and innovation. I also share three questions to help listeners learn from their own experiences of drifting and break free from negative patterns.

0:00:00 Introduction to the concept of drifting and the book "Outwitting the Devil"
0:00:50 Feeling stuck and the definition of the drift
0:01:44 The fear of poverty and scarcity mentality
0:03:24 The fear of illness and the importance of healing
0:04:23 The fear of not being loved and the gift and curse of overachievers
0:05:28 The fear of getting old and choosing how to age
0:05:56 The fear of death and living without regret
0:06:49 The fear of criticism and the importance of standing out
0:07:14 The fear of disappointing others and the impossibility of pleasing everyone
0:08:11 Being aware of the drift and making a conscious decision to stop operating from fear
0:09:52 Finding gratitude in the current reality and embracing growth
0:10:54 Having faith and purpose leads to innovation
0:11:29 Three questions to learn from the drift
0:12:42 Identifying destructive patterns and breaking them
0:14:00 The importance of self-awareness and self-mastery
0:15:21 Overcoming fears and embracing your mission
0:16:24 Using fears as fuel for personal growth
0:17:37 Strengthening faith and regaining the edge

Most men find themselves drifting through life, a concept profoundly explored in Napoleon Hill's "outwitting the devil audiobook." This book illuminates the critical importance of finding your true purpose and avoiding the pitfalls of a life without clear direction. Understanding this "drift" is a powerful form of self help, offering a new perspective on the meaning of life and personal growth. It's about sharpening your EDGE and deciding how you’ll be remembered, focusing on legacy rather than just chasing significance.

On this episode of the King’s Code Podcast, my special guest is Jeff Brawley. Jeff had a hardscrabble upbringing as the son of a farmer. He started working for minimum wage at the farm in high school to afford to buy clothing that was trendy at the time to fit in. When he started his business, he had the problem of growing at a rate that was too fast for him to keep up with work but not fast enough for him to afford to hire more employees. When he started the EDGE Program, he was able to break through some of his limited beliefs and cut people out of his life who drained his energy, which freed him up to expand his business more. By breaking through the scarcity mindset and instead tapping into the abundance mindset, he was able to see opportunities for growth.

After 30 years of steadily growing his winery, his business was seriously threatened by the California wildfires. He came to me looking for guidance to improve his mindset and find the certainty it would take to get his business back on track rather than declaring bankruptcy. He was able to successfully navigate this hard time by looking at his father and grandfather for inspiration. When he found his code to the Edge, he went from being hurt by the storm to becoming the storm. He was able to bring his business back and then continue to grow even bigger than before. Watch this episode to learn how an unstoppable mindset will help you get your business back on track.

Josh was an early adopter of ecommerce, at the time when it was considered a disrupter rather than the norm. He later found a position at GoPro, and tested an early version of the Amazon search engine. He used his experience with Amazon to found his own company that takes advantage of the Amazon algorythm to promote products and services, even ones that don’t sell on Amazon. In this interview, you will hear the journey he took as an entrepreneur, from the big leap of faith it took to leave a secure position to the ups and downs, to his current successes.

Using cutting-edge technology, Hammock Greens grows fruits and vegetables in indoor hydroponic gardens housed in shipping containers. This sustainable approach uses less water, takes less power, and grows more nutritious produce without the use of pesticides, on top of that, because the food is grown locally, it has a lower carbon footprint and mitigates any supply chain issues.

None of this would be possible if Ron McKay hadn’t discovered his code to the EDGE. Watch this episode of the King’s Code to learn who Ron is, how he discovered the EDGE, and the impact he’s making on the entire world.

Peterson is a controversial public figure. Depending on who you ask, he can be a voice to the voiceless, helping men who cannot help themselves; or he is the public figure of a group of angry, horny men who can’t get dates. Olivia Wilde’s movie, “Don’t Worry Darling,” has a character who is a cult leader, and many people interpret the character as a slightly exaggerated depiction of Peterson. In this interview, Peterson got choked up talking about the young men who look up to him. What can we make of this man? Is it all an act? Is he a hero or a charlatan? And what can we learn about the incel movement? Is it a movement of men bringing each other up or are they holding each other down? Watch this video to see my reaction to this viral moment.

In this interview, Tate goes all in proclaiming that toxic masculinity is a phrase made up by angry, man-hating feminists. According to him, all masculinity is perceived as toxic masculinity, and women complaining about men is a first world problem.

My opinion on Tate himself is that he is very much in touch with his dark warrior. The dark warrior wants to hunt, fight, and have sex, but it’s inevitable that the dark warrior burns everything to the ground because he can’t create, he can only destroy. I believe that being a dark warrior is only one step along the way to becoming a king, which means a complete man who owns his life.

John Barriga is the founder and owner of Intravenous Me, a popular IV therapy provider in Midtown Manhattan. I interview him about how he came to work with me, and what steps he has taken to turn his life around since we’ve worked together. He first contacted me through my application process. He was, at the time, filled with uncertainty about how to keep his business going during the pandemic, his marriage was suffering, and he knew he had to change something. He was able to turn his life around by taking control of his life rather than sitting back and hiring other people to do the hard work for him. His story proves the importance of hard work and dedication, and to never count yourself out. Get your hands dirty 21:46 Don’t be stuck in your story 23:31 What are the biggest wins and blessings 25:00 This is just the beginning On Episode 6 of The King’s Code, I interview John Barriga.

On this, episode 4 of the King’s Code Podcast, I interview Mark Jennison, founder of IAMACOMEBACK. His company is focused primarily on helping otherwise successful men overcome a battle they often find themselves losing: addiction. What makes Mark so different is that he teaches his clients how to tap into their inner strength; in contrast, many rehab programs like AA teach that you are powerless to stop your addiction, and you must learn how to live with that powerlessness. Given that AA’s success rating is 50% at best, and Mark’s success rate is 97%, Mark seems to know what he’s talking about.

But the rehab is only the beginning, because Mark teaches successful men how to apply that same inner strength to every aspect of their lives to increase their capacity and live their best lives in every way possible. Watch this video to learn how Mark’s failures led to his ultimate success, and what he does every day to keep himself in the best physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual shape possible.

One of the things I’m proudest of is helping to create a community. The thing that makes the biggest difference in people’s lives is their community. Your community dictates how far you go in life - it will either empower you or keep you down.

💼 Find your Code to the EDGE:
https://edge100challenge.com/

It’s in our DNA to be part of a community. Our primal need is to be part of a tribe. We want to be part of a tribe so much that we are sometimes willing to betray our values to be accepted.

The quality of your life is a direct reflection of the quality of your community. You have to ask yourself who you are being influenced by to predict what sort of life you will have. If you are in a toxic community, it will be impossible for you to thrive; if you are in an empowering environment, it will be impossible for you to fail.

5 things to look for in a community that will empower you:

1- Standards.
Get around people who will raise your standards. If you are around people who will let you play small, you will never thrive. The only way to become a bigger player is to be around those who hold you to a higher standard. If your community doesn’t inspire you to go outside your comfort zone and grow, that community is keeping you in a box.

Your results are a reflection of your standards. You will never get results if you are not committed to following through. If you want to change something in your life, raise your standards. But you need to have people around you who will hold you to high standards.

2- Trust
Knowing that you can count on others will give you CERTAINTY. At the same time, if you have nobody you can trust, it will be harder for you to overcome your challenges. But trust is a two-way street; you have to give in order to receive. You have to keep your word.

3- Vision
Is there a vision that you can align with? What is the vision of the community and how can you get behind it? Can you see the impact you can make long-term? If your vision is not so big that it scares you, it’s not big enough.

4- Value
Just like trust, value is a two-way street. You have to give value to the community in order to receive it. You have to do more for others than you’re willing to do for yourself. If you’re hurting, the best way to heal is to heal others. If you have a challenge, the best way to solve it is to help someone else solve their challenges. Sometimes you can’t see outside of your challenges; a new perspective may fix that. When you help someone else, you sharpen your edge. When you see someone else’s problems, you realize that yours are not that big.

5- Faith
Is your community increasing your faith in people? The news today always highlights how bad people are, but I believe that there are more good people out there than bad. But we don’t highlight the good things people do. The moment that you’re part of a community that increased your faith in people, you realize that more people will help you than take advantage of you.

There are 5 levels of commitment. Your reason why and your clarity on why you want to succeed is what makes the difference between success and failure. The reason WHY is a reflection of your commitment.

1 - “I have to.”
This is the weakest level of commitment. At this level, you work out of obligation. You will find any excuse not to follow through. At this level, you are constantly drained of energy because you’re always overcoming excuses and waiting to be motivated.

2 - “I need to.”
This is a stronger level of commitment because your reason why is stronger than your excuses. But you still work out of guilt and obligation. You have a needy energy, which repels abundance. You will bend your values to get what you want.

3 - “I want to.”
This energy will get some results, but they will come with casualties. The “I want to” is the warrior. The warrior gets shit done, but the warrior only cares about himself. As a result, there is a high cost to getting results.

4 - “I must”
The “I must” energy gives you creativity and innovation. You find a way when most people can’t. The “why” is bigger than you, so nothing will stop you until you happen.

5 - “I get to”
This is the most powerful level of commitment. This is the level where you appreciate the journey. You get to give value, or provide for your family, etc. You don’t have to wait to get to some level of success before you are happy, you’re already happy. When you have the perspective of “I get to,” there are no excuses, only reasons why

It takes mastery to get to the “I get to” energy. The “I get to” energy is synonymous with the King mindset. When you are a King, you are enjoying the journey and expanding your capacity as you go.

This week, it was my honor and privilege to have Joe Desana, the founder of the Spartan Race, as my first guest on the Raul Villacis Experience, a long-form companion podcast to The Daily Edge. Joe has been a best-selling author, a key note speaker, and of course the founder and organizer of the Spartan Race.

Joe grew up on what many of us would call “the wrong side of the tracks.” He essentially grew up as a background actor in a real-life mob movie. But his mother made sure he wouldn’t follow that path, and set him up for later success in life. Several times in life, he became successful, then risked everything he had to start over and pursue greatness. His interest in physical fitness and his desire to test his own toughness lead him to create the Spartan Death Race. In this interview, Joe tells me how and why he chose the life he has now.
