MEGHAN HANLEY, fresh off her feature in Forbes Magazine, is a Brooklyn-based, internationally touring stand-up comedian, who has appeared on AXSTV’s “Gotham Comedy Live,” The MSG Network, DreamsTV, Fox’s “Laughs” and “Red Eye.” Throughout the pandemic, Meghan zoomed from her apartment for private events, fundraisers, and corporate clients, including The NFL, Bank of America, The Girl Scouts, Intel, Samsung, and ZeniMax Online Studios. While at home, she also teamed up with Standup2corona.org, a non-profit, that kept comedians at work, while putting food into the food bank, through Feeding America. In November 2021, she filmed a “Dry Bar” Comedy Special, with a 2023 release and in January of 2023, her comedy album, “This Happy,” debuted at number one, for five days straight, on iTunes. Hanley’s quick wit and upbeat persona, have to lead to her being featured in several Festivals, and two tours with Armed Forces Entertainment, providing laughter to our Troops overseas. From Mike Rainey...I am a chubby, 43-year-old married father of three children and two cats. I started stand up comedy in 2003. I drank almost every day for a decade, went to rehab for cocaine addiction in 2006 and eventually became addicted to prescription painkillers from 2012-2014. During my painkiller run, I managed to write two books, Terrible Advice and Terrible Advice for Parents. I am very proud of both and neither sold more than 500 copies. I ate shit consistently for over a decade before finding success with a blog I wrote called Terrible Dad Blog.

After Terrible Dad Blog, I was very fortunate to be a part of Delco Proper with my friends. It seemed like it was going to be a TV show, but after filming the pilot, the network said “No thanks, but we’d rather put out some microwaved dog shit that no one will watch,” and it was all over in an instant. I felt like that was it for me. About a year later, my buddy Tim Butterly, the funniest guy on the planet, and I started Dad Meat Podcast. Our listeners, the bubs, made us feel like we should be making stuff again, so we continued to do so and are eternally grateful for them.

In 2021, I started Lil Stinkers Podcast with my friends Jon DelCollo and Jake Mattera, who make me laugh more than anyone else. Both of them indulge me as I talk about serial killers, and just generally fucked up people who do funny stuff. Now, I am proud to present to you my latest book, On Percs, which is a detailed account of my painkiller addiction through the perspective of my Facebook posts and current day analyses of those posts. I hope to sell 5,000 copies of On Percs, which would allow me to quit my day job, spend more time with my family and buy a new Chrysler 300 to make up for the one I had repo’d.

The world is discovering comedian Brad Upton after 36 years in the standup business. Brad was teaching the fourth grade and coaching high school track in Pasco, WA when he first stepped on stage in 1984. He quickly decided that he wanted to do standup instead, so he quit teaching in June of 1986 and never looked back.

Both a stand-up comic AND pastor, Gordon Douglas has had an interesting career. From the nightclubs in Philadelphia to Hollywood to ministry, we discuss clean comedy and the Christian Comedy Association and he shares a hilarious story about dropping his sermon notes in an open grave.

Gordon Douglas has been married to his wife Dawn for over 35 years. They have five natural children and have opened their hearts and home to a whole lot more. But most importantly, Gordon is someone who lives and loves to laugh! In the 70's, his comedy skills took him from the nightclubs in Philadelphia to Hollywood. Then he ended up in ministry! A wild thought soon came to him. He didn’t have to give up comedy for the ministry, he can do both - often at the same time!

So since returning to the comedy world in 1995, Gordon has been in 41 states and 4 countries and has been featured on a variety of television and radio programs. What makes Gordon different? His unique ability to connect with everyone from teenagers to senior citizens. He has performed on both Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruise lines as well as countless colleges, comedy clubs, and corporate events with mixture of fun and faith, love and laughter.

Learning from his comedy heroes Jonathan Winters and Red Skeleton, Gordon’s comedy mixes real life stories with “off the wall” physical comedy and his own hilarious view of life. You will relate to his side splitting stories from his life- like dropping the sermon notes into the grave at his first funeral to his demonstration of changing his first diaper, to his now famous “pantyhose dance” that has folks rolling in the aisles. He helps us see the funny things all around us and find joy no matter what we are going through. But he is more than funny!

Tommy Avallone and I go way back to the days of 94.1 WYSP in Philadelphia. Since then, he’s gone on to direct I Love You, You Hate Me (2022), The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned from a Mythical Man (2018) and I Am Santa Claus (2014). As a kid, Tommy always had a camera on him and was constantly making videos with friends. We chat about how those videos were the stepping stone to a career in the world of documentaries. Rachel Fogletto joins me on my latest episode! She’s a hustler, and we’ve worked together a lot over the last year. We talk all things comedy from selling merchandise to comedy festivals to performing overseas!

Rachel Fogletto is a Philadelphia-based stand-up comedian and a regular performer at Punch Line Philly as well as Helium Comedy Club where she recently recorded her debut comedy album “Is this the test” which just released in Spring 2022. Rachel has performed in many festivals including Limestone Comedy Festival, and Cloud Top Comedy Festival, and was a semi-finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival.

Rachel is a self-described charming over-sharer and middle-shelf wine enthusiast. She has performed all over the country and has even made international appearances in Canada and Sweden. Rachel was inspired to start and continue comedy every day with the mantra that "if you can make them laugh, you win." The best compliment she has received to date was from an audience member who told her, “You were so funny you ruined my night.”

Ken Krantz has been funny his whole life. He had to be to get any attention growing up the youngest of eight kids in a real-life Brady Bunch situation. He started doing stand-up in 2009 and quickly became a fixture on the Tri-State comedy scene, where he gained a reputation as a no holds barred joke writer. His laid-back style combines self-deprecating humor, his views on fatherhood, and his take on pop culture and current events. Ken has performed at all of the major clubs in the Tri-State area, including Gotham, The Stand, Stress Factory, and The Comedy Cellar. A regular panel member on NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me, Alonzo Bodden has been making audiences around the country laugh for more than 20 years.

Alonzo’s latest (2022) comedy special Alonzo Bodden: Stupid Don’t Get Tired, was released on YouTube by Helium Comedy Studios. In 2019, he starred in his fourth stand-up special, Alonzo Bodden: Heavy Lightweight, which premiered exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

His first big comedy break came when he was on the “New Faces of Comedy” showcase at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal. However, it was as the season three winner of NBCʼs Last Comic Standing where Alonzo was first introduced to America.

Since then, he has starred in two comedy specials for Showtime: Historically Incorrect and Who’s Paying Attention. His television appearances include ABC’s Dr. Ken and Fresh Off the Boat, Dr. Phil, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and Californication. He’s also a recurring guest on The Joe Rogan Experience.

A car and motorcycle aficionado, Alonzo hosted Speed Channel’s 101 Cars You Must Drive and has joined Jay Leno for several off-road trips on his CNBC series Jay Leno’s Garage. Alonzo was a field correspondent on Animal Nation with Anthony Anderson and a contributor on the Science Channel’s How to Build Everything.

Mary Radzinski is one of my longest friends in stand-up and I’m truly convinced we share the same brain when it comes to comedy.

Chip Chantry

One of my first friends in comedy, Chip Chantry, joins me on this episode. Chip and I have a lot of similarities between our childhoods, comedy interests, and our careers. We chat about his very first time doing stand-up (opening for his brother's band), our early days in the Philly scene, how Philly comedy has evolved and we each work on a new bit. We also talk about the television masterpiece, Strangers With Candy, because half of our conversations are about that show anyways.

Chip Chantry is a stand-up comedian and television writer. He has written for Crazy Talk, a comedy/talk series for NBC Universal and the syndicated series Whacked Out Sports. He most recently wrote on the NatGeo series Howie Mandel’s Animals Doing Things. Chip was the winner of 2013’s Philly’s Phunniest Contest at Helium Comedy Club, where he was a regular performer. Chip also won the “Funniest Comedian” award in Philadelphia’s annual Comedy Awards in both 2012 and 2014 and was named Best Comedian 2018 by Philadelphia Magazine. Chip is a recurring guest on the Doug Loves Movies and Todd Glass Show Podcasts.

Formerly a 4th-grade teacher, Chip left the classroom to pursue comedy and writing. He has opened for national headliners such as Dave Chappelle, Bob Saget, and Tig Notaro. In 2012, he released his first live comedy album, ACROSS FROM THE ADONIS. His second album, SWINGERS PARTY, was released in March 2019, where it spent time at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts and is currently in rotation on SiriusXM.

Chip has written and performed in a number of live and video sketches, including “Deck the Hall and Oates” which VH1.com called “one of the best parodies of the year” in 2011. He also wrote and produced the monthly late night style talk shows FACE TIME w/ CHIP CHANTRY, and GOOD EVENING w/ CHIP CHANTRY at Helium Comedy Club, as well as the monthly comedy-variety program, CHIP CHANTRY’S ONE‐MAN SHOW (w/ special guests!), at the Philly Improv Theater. Christy and Bob had a close bond with her non-profit, Project Scleroderma, where they collaborated many times over the years at various events and projects.

About Christy McCaffery: I am a wife, mom to 3, nonprofit director, speaker, podcast host, and writer/producer born and raised just outside of Philadelphia, PA, where I live and work today.

After losing my mom in 2009 to a rare incurable autoimmune disease called scleroderma, I found myself reeling in grief and with a desire to create a more meaningful impact for others as part of my healing. Through my grieving process, as I unraveled the complicated layers of pain, I discovered a more authentic space within myself that was longing to show up and make a positive impact in the world.

This path of self-discovery ultimately led me to the work I now do. I came to realize my own potential to do good and drive impact that could cause a ripple effect of good for others. Along the way learning how to show up as my truest self and to live a life of authenticity.

In 2011 I created a nonprofit, called Project Scleroderma, in honor of my mom and in service to the patient community who suffers from this life-altering illness, Scleroderma. Project Scleroderma produces documentary videos and films, highlighting the stories of patients living with this illness all over the world, in an effort to dramatically increase the level of awareness for scleroderma.

I have also since gone on to create and host a podcast called "Be The Good", with a conversation that focuses on the good being done by a diverse group of guests, each of who are working in their own unique way to make a difference in the world.

Mike Vecchione’s First Time

Mike Vecchione is another fantastic comic that was great to me in my early days. He did such a nice thing for me 15 years ago, I still think about it to this day, and I remind him of that kind deed. We both worked The Laff House early in our careers and we both share some stories from there. Mike tells his most recent bombing story and we talk about his move from Philly to New York City, and the grind that comes along with moving to the comedy Mecca of the world.

Mike Vecchione is an Italian-American comedian and actor whose stand-up has been described as “rapid-fire delivery, swiftly moving from joke to joke and hitting his punch lines like a boxer working a speed bag.” Mike has made numerous appearances on The Tonight Show, Comedy Central, Netflix, SiriusXM and more. Based in New York City, Mike headlines all across America as well as internationally.

In 2020, Mike will appear on the big screen alongside Pete Davidson in the Judd Apatow-directed movie The King of Staten Island. Mike will also appear on Netflix’s The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show.

In 2018, Mike appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon for a second time, did Montreal’s Just For Laughs for a third time, and released his second comedy album, The Worst Kind of Thoughtful which was named comedy album of the year by Vulture and SiriusXM.

In 2017, Mike appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and in two episodes of TruTV’s Comedy Knockout.

In 2015, Mike appeared on Conan on TBS and Inside Amy Schumer.

In 2014, Mike appeared on Comedy Underground with Dave Attell on Comedy Central, was again a semi-finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen. He also released his first comedy album, Muscle Confusion.

In 2010, Mike won the People’s Choice Award for the New York Comedy Festival, was a semi-finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and was selected to perform at the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival (New Faces). Later that year, Mike went on to perform on the Tonight Show starring Jay Leno and shot his own Half Hour Special for Comedy Central.

At the end of 2003, Mike moved to New York City. He has appeared on Comedy Centrals Live at Gotham, Comedy Centrals Fresh Face Debates, and Russell Simmons Presents: Stand Up at the El Rey Theatre. Mike also had a guest appearance on the IFC hit show Z Rock.

Mike Vecchione was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and graduated High School in Boca Raton, Florida. He played football and placed second in the 1991 AAA state wrestling tournament. He attended Pennsylvania State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and went on to receive a Master’s degree in Special Education from Cabrini College in Pennsylvania. Mike has worked as a counselor and Special Education teacher in the Philadelphia area.

No BS, Greg Fitzsimmons has been one of my favorite comics since I was in high school, and having him on was an absolute blast. “Richard Pryor called me a bitch!” Born and raised in South Philly before moving to LA, Eleanor Kerrigan was a waitress at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles for twelve years before she tried stand-up. We’ve done some interesting and crazy shows together. From Nick’s Roast Beef in Springfield, PA to theaters with Andrew Dice Clay, we cross paths often and it’s always great to chat. Eleanor is the latest in a long line of historically funny women who cut their teeth at the World Famous Comedy Store. Starting out as a waitress there, Eleanor learned the ropes of comedy, all the while making the best comics in the country laugh, in the kitchen of the club. It would take several years and lots of pushing from one of her biggest fans, Andrew Dice Clay, to finally get her to take her comedic talents to the stage. Brad Williams and I met 12 years ago during a blizzard in Philadelphia, performing to very small crowds that weekend. Fast forward to 2021. We’ve worked together a ton this year to packed houses, adding extra shows in most cities. Brad’s first time on stage was an unusual one - attending a Carlos Mencia show, Mencia was doing jokes about little people - and the people sitting around Brad were afraid to laugh. Brad Williams has become one of the funniest, most in-demand comedians working today. A California native, Brad started doing stand-up at age 19 and has been touring ever since.

Julia Scotti’s First Time

In only 90 seconds, Julia Scotti blew us away on America’s Got Talent. Originally from Fairview, New Jersey, for the first 48 years she was better known as comedian Rick Scotti. Julia has appeared on numerous television and radio shows as well as commercials.

In 2000, Julia left comedy to begin her life-altering transition, and also to begin her new career as a teacher, where she remained for seven years. She was self-employed for a time, but in 2011, after a ten-year layoff from comedy, Julia returned to the stage. Her new brand of comedy is fierce, honest, and fearless. She has been described as a “force of nature”, “a cross between Sam Kinison and Mrs. Doubtfire”, and like a “chainsaw flying through the room”.

Julia was a quarter-finalist on season 11 America’s Got Talent in 2016. She was a judge’s favorite with Simon Cowell saying “you genuinely made me laugh”, and Howie Mandel quoted as saying “you have so much to offer, you are a joy."

In 2012, Julia had been named one of the Top Five Transgender Comedians in the country by Advocate Magazine. Since then, she has gone on to become the first transgendered woman and finalist in the New York Based Ladies of Laughter Competition. She has performed at the Boston Comedy Festival, and in 2014 was one of the winners of the Laughlin Laugh Festival in Nevada.

Today, you can find Julia performing at comedy clubs and theaters around the country. When she isn’t making people laugh, Julia often speaks at teacher in-services on the subject of bullying and transgendered youth issues.

i knew i wanted to write rude awakening back in 2018, but i still had to do more "research"! at the beginning of 2020 (pre-pandemic and other world happenings) i had a breakdown and felt so incredibly stuck. after tuning all the way in, i got the message that it was finally time for me to start writing. i was driving and listening to my go-to inspirational playlist and there it was - the entire format for my book, right in my ears this whole time!

rude awakening: a mixtape takes the form of a playlist i had been keeping of songs that touched me throughout my spiritual awakening journey. each story in the book was inspired by a song that helped me through something, inspired me to keep going when i felt like giving up, and touched a part of my soul that words alone couldn't.

wherever you are on the awakening path, i hope this book lands on you like a breath of (expletive-laden) fresh air and inspires you to keep going. and who doesn't love a great playlist?!

Blake is a very close friend and we had a lot to say in this episode. We share some Philly-related stories from our early days, how he would call bars to see if he was even allowed in to perform, his mom driving him to open-mics, his days at Emerson College in Boston and then moving to Los Angeles.

Blake Wexler started doing stand-up at the age of 15 in Philadelphia, then moved to Boston in 2007 to pursue his comedy career and attend Emerson College. While at Emerson Blake was named as one of the funniest college students in the country at The Rooftop Aspen Comedy Festival two years in a row, and after graduating with degrees in journalism and political science he moved to Los Angeles.

Since moving to LA, Blake has written for and appeared on Comedy Central, was a featured performer in numerous comedy festivals, became the first comedian/writer to appear on ABC's "Watch Party: The Bachelor", and can be regularly heard on The Cracked Podcast, The Daily Zeitgeist, & The Todd Glass Show.

Joe List’s First Time

Joe List and I have a ton of similarities in comedy - both of us started shortly after high school, neither one of us had any idea what were were doing, but we both knew that we loved doing stand-up comedy. We cover everything from performing in Chinese restaurants in Boston, moving to NYC, performing on all the late-night shows and appearing on Netlfix’s “The Stand-Ups.” Joe and I talk a lot of comedy and realize we have a lot in common.

Joe List began his comedy career in Boston, Massachusetts in 2000 just weeks after graduating from high school. Since that time he has been featured on The Late Show with David Letterman as well as multiple appearances on Conan. He’s featured in Season 2 of The Netflix Series “The Stand Ups”. In 2015 List was a finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing and had his own Half Hour comedy special on Comedy Central. Amy Miller’s First Time

Starting in Oakland, moving to Portland, now currently living in L.A, Amy Miller is one of the hardest working comics out there. Amy has won Portland’s Funniest, appeared on The Adam Carolla Show, NPR, Doug Loves Movies and her own “Comedy Central Presents...”

Amy and I met years ago in Portland, where a snowstorm canceled half of our shows with Tom Segura. We share a bunch of fun stories from that week and have a great comedy chat covering everything from performing in laundry mats to proper green room etiquette and not being a complete dickbag in this industry.

Amy Miller was one of Comedy Central’s “Up Next” comics for 2018, and was a breakout favorite in Season 9 of Last Comic Standing. Her Comedy Central Presents set has been viewed over 3 million times on Youtube and Facebook. She was also a featured comic on Viceland's Flophouse. On Last Comic Standing, Keenen Ivory Wayans said she had one of the “fiercest jokes he had ever heard.” Originally from the East Bay, Amy found her comedy chops in Oakland and is still a regular at the SF Punch Line and Cobb’s Comedy Club. Her material is personal, political, and 100% authentic. Adrienne Iapalucci’s First Time

When I moved to Hoboken, NJ in 2011 to tackle comedy in NYC, Adrienne Iapalucci was one of the few comics to take me under her wing and show me around the scene. Since then, she’s been featured on The Degenerates on Netflix, The Best of Netlfix Stand-Up 2020 and she was my first friend to perform on David Letterman. Born and raied in The Bronx, Adrienne's mother dabbled in stand-up and Adrienne dreamed of being on Saturday Night Live, but then found herself doing stand-up as well. Starting 2021 off with a bang! Tom Rhodes is one of my favorite humans on the planet. He first saw live stand-up comedy when he was 12-years-old, and with the help of a fake ID, he was actively performing at 17. From Florida to L.A. and N.Y.C. to San Fran, after cutting his teeth in America, Tom began working the international circuit, tackling Ireland, Sydney, Beijing, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris, Hong Kong, and everywhere in between.

Tom and I have known each other for fifteen years, and we share a lot of memories and compliments. Crashing on my couch, his love of Philly, the New Years Day when he quit drinking, to a recent traumatic event he witnessed, Tom shares some deep thoughts and life experiences - and in true Tom Rhodes fashion, gets some jokes out of it.

Mark Normand’s First Time

After a few rough sets in Lousiana, Mark Normand headed to New York City and made the magic happen! From Conan to Jimmy Fallon and a special with 4.5 million views, Mark has blown up the last few years. We talk about performing in front of huge theater crowds, getting compliments from Seinfeld (Mark, not me) oue earliest jokes and doing live shows during the pandemic.

Mark Normand is a fun-loving, New York comedian. Ok, I’m gonna brag a little here but hey, you’re on the site so that must mean you’re somewhat interested. I don’t know, I’ve just seen other comics do this. Ah screw you, I’m proud of these credits! Sorry, I got worked up there. (I just wanna be liked)

So far, Mark has done a One-Hour Comedy Central special “Don’t Be Yourself”, a Comedy Central HALF HOUR special, has appeared on TBS’s CONAN 6 times, Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Showtime’s “Live at SXSW”, INSIDE AMY SCHUMER, TruTv, Best Week Ever, MTv, Last Comic Standing, @Midnight and released an album with Comedy Central records titled “Still Got It” (it’s not bad). This year, Mark took first place at the Great American Comedy Festival competition. In 2013 won Caroline’s March Madness competition, beating out 63 other comedians. And this is a real shocker for all of us, but he was also voted Village Voice’s “Best Comedian of 2013”, I know, right? In 2012, Mark appeared on “John Oliver’s New York Standup Show” on Comedy Central, and in 2011 was picked as one of Comedy Central’s “Comics to Watch.”

Mark was born and raised in New Orleans, LA surprisingly to two normal parents. As a kid he spent most of his time shooting short films and wetting the bed. He started doing comedy right after college and quickly moved to New York. Mark now does comedy clubs and colleges across the country and has been involved in many festivals including Portland, Seattle, DC, Boston, Vancouver, Melbourne and in 2013 was featured as a New Face at the Montreal Comedy Festival.

More annoying accolades that no one really cares about: Mark was named one of Comedy Central’s Comics To Watch for the 2011 New York Comedy Festival. Mark was also named Esquire’s “Best New Comedians 2012”, Splitsider’s “Top 10 Up and Coming Comedians on Each Coast”, and Time Out New York’s “21 New York Comedy Scene Linchpins”. Whew, sorry about all that.

Christian Finnegan’s First Time

I hosted for Christian Finnegan in Philly one weekend, and when he came back to town, he asked me to feature. You don’t forget stuff like that. In this episode, we talk about what comics were helpful to him in his career, club comics VS alt comics, and what comedy clubs will be like after the pandemic.

Christian Finnegan is perhaps best known as one of the original panelists on VH1’s “Best Week Ever” and as Chad, the only white roommate in “Chappelle’s Show’s” infamous “Mad Real World” sketch. He played Martin on the popular syndicated sitcom “Are We There Yet?” and politics junkies will recognize Christian from his many appearances on “Countdown with Keith Olbermann”.

Most recently, Christian was the creator and co-host of A&E’s “Black & White”, which examined current events and social trends through the lens of Race. He can also be heard filling in as a regular guest host on “Standup with Pete Dominick” on SiriusXM Insight.

Over the years, Christian has been a fixture on Comedy Central, having starred in his own one hour stand up special “Au Contraire”, as well as “Comedy Central Presents”, “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn” and countless network interstitials. He’s also appeared on “Conan”, “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”, “Good Afternoon America” and “The Today Show”.

Christian’s three comedy albums/specials (“Two for Flinching”,“Au Contraire!” and “The Fun Part”) are available on iTunes and Amazon and his standup is in regular rotation on all major streaming services. His fourth album, “60% Joking” will be released on June 7, 2019.

Ritch Shydner’s First Time

If you’re a comic, you most likely own a copy of “I Killed: True Stories of the Road from America’s Top Comics,” a book of short stories compiled by comedy legend Ritch Shydner. Over a 30-year career, Ritch has seen it all and done it all. We met after I read (and loved) his second book, “Kicking Through the Ashes.” We discuss his books, doing comedy at a time when it wasn’t even called “stand-up” yet, the comedy boom of the 80s, open-mics to being on Carson, and hanging with Dangerfield.

In the 1980s, Ritch made numerous appearances on TV, including Late Night with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with both Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. He did an HBO half-hour special, “One Night Stand.”

He played Al Bundy’s co-worker on “Married with Children”, and made guest appearances on many other TV shows, such as “Designing Women” and “Roseanne.”

Ritch was able to translate his modest success on TV into an obscure film career, appearing in Steve Martin’s, "Roxanne," and Eddie Murphy's, "Beverly Hills Cop II," before moving on to minor roles on smaller pictures.

Ritch wrote for sitcoms such as "Roseanne", "The Jeff Foxworthy Show," and HBO’s “The Mind of the Married Man.”

Ritch wrote material for Jeff Foxworthy’s Grammy-nominated comedy albums, “Totally Committed,” and “Big Fun.” He also wrote for Ron White and Jay Leno.

In 2006 Ritch was co-author of a book on stand-up, “I Killed”.

In 2010 Ritch produced and performed in an award-winning documentary on the world of stand-up comedy, “I Am Comic”.

Currently, Ritch is writing a movie adaptation for HBO of Bill Maher's book, "True Story".

TuRae Gordon’s First Time

When you’re a brand new comic, there’s nothing better than a true pro taking you under their wing, and the first person to do that for me was TuRae Gordon. I saw him perform at Temple University before I even started stand-up, and once I did, he befriended me, gave me opportunities and two monumental pieces of advice that I still think about today. In this episode, we talk about the club where we started, The Laff House, comedy in Philly in the early 90s, Patrice Oneal, share some heckler stories and how comics can never stop talking about comedy.

Whenever people ask me who my favorite comedians are, I mention Chad Daniels every time. As comics, sometimes we get wrapped up with the work side of things, that we forget to have fun. We remind each other that a lot of cool things happen in comedy if you just stop and take it in for a second. Chad and I talk about how meaningful it is when a headliner brings you around as their opener, we share a few (hilarious) horror stories from the road and the late, great Mitch Hedberg.

Sarah Colonna’s First Time

Michael Somerville’s First Time

We don’t cross paths much, but when we do, Michael Somerville and I will always catch up - and DRINK! (I think I’m still hungover from our Vegas weekend back in February). From his first time on stage at Notre Dame to multiple Letterman appearances, we discuss how his friends talked him into becoming a comedian and hanging out in Vegas, baby!

Michael tried standup comedy on a dare while a student at the University of Notre Dame. He was soon emceeing Fighting Irish pep rallies and growing 70's style sideburns to do extra work in "Rudy". Upon graduation, he moved to New York City and took a job in advertising but, when his neck became irritated from shaving every day, retired to pursue comedy full time. His first job was dancing in a pink bear suit at a Bar Mitvah. He was hooked.

Since then Michael has carved a unique niche in entertainment. A comedian, TV host, writer, advice guru, there isn't much he doesn't do. Michael wrote and hosted the reality show "Wingman", imparts humorously insightful advice on the Hallmark Channel and has performed standup on The Late Show with David Letterman four times. He also serves as a panelist on various programs for VH1, Bravo and The History Channel and spent three years as Glamour Magazine's renowned dating columnist "Jake".

Michael has hosted shows for Nickelodeon, Starz and Encore and contributed to numerous publications from Time Magazine to Maxim. His albums "Welcome to Somerville" "Handsomely Disheveled" "No Sudden Movements" play in regular rotation on satellite radio.

In his free time, Michael likes sleeping late and fettuccini, and loathes the sound of honking horns. While generally convivial, he is most fun after coffee.

Are Josh Gondelman and I the same person?? Starting comedy in Boston, his career has taken him to Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Desus and Mero. Give it a listen!

Josh Gondelman is a writer and comedian who incubated in Boston before moving to New York City, where he currently lives and works as a writer and producer for Desus & Mero on Showtime. Previously, he spent five years at Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, first as a web producer and then as a staff writer where he earned four Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, and three WGA Awards. In 2016, Josh made his late night standup debut on Conan (TBS), and he has also performed on Late Night With Seth Meyers (NBC) and The Late Late Show with James Corden (CBS).

Gondelman is also the author of the essay collection Nice Try: Stories of Best Intentions and Mixed Results published September 2019 by Harper Perennial. And as of 2019, he has become a regular panelist on NPR mainstay Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me. In Spring 2020, Gondelman launched his own podcast Make My Day, a comedy game show. And, if you remember this far back, he was the co-creator of the popular Modern Seinfeld Twitter account.

Onstage, Josh charms audiences using his good-natured storytelling and cracks them up with his sharp, pointy wit. He takes topics from surprise parties to his experience teaching preschool and makes them all equally hilarious. Josh’s most recent album Dancing On a Weeknight came out in 2019 on Blonde Medicine Records. (His prior album Physical Whisper debuted in March of 2016 at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts (as well as #4 on the Billboard comedy chart) and stayed there for…well…longer than he expected, honestly.)

Offstage, Gondelman is also the co-author (along with Joe Berkowitz) of the book You Blew It, published October 2015 by Plume. In the past, Josh has written for Fuse TV’s Billy On The Street. His writing has also appeared in prestigious publications such as McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, New York Magazine, and The New Yorker.

Additionally, Josh has performed at the Rooftop Comedy Festival in Aspen, CO, and headlined at the Laugh Your Asheville Off Festival in Asheville, NC. More recently he has appeared in the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and SF Sketchfest. His debut standup comedy CD, Everything’s The Best was released in November of 2011 by Rooftop Comedy Productions.
