We have a great couple of books here for you. First up is Uncanny 153. Kitty Pryde tells a bedtime story to Illyana, so she can go to sleep. This one's got everything: Wolverine as the Tasmanian Devil, Storm trapped in a bottle, Kurt as a cute and cuddly stuffed animal (please ignore the sexual harassment!) And Professor X as a good guy. You know, lots of fiction!

Next up is X-Men 154. With the return of the Starjammers! Well, the sleazy one at least. Corsair shows up and drops the dad bomb on Scott, then tries to drop a bomb on a power plant to kill some abstract alien bug things! The rest of the Starjammers are noticeably absent, and the crew is that much sadder for it. Plus, Charles is still in a coma, or asleep, or plotting to lock his brother in the sex dungeon again. Even when he's out, he's up to something...

Episode 93 - When Mutants Pod!

Another week, another episode of the House of X Book Club killing you hearing if you listen at high decibels. Fun fact, Drew laughs all the way through every episode, but it is so high pitched only dogs and xenomorphs can hear it.

Anyway, we have a couple of great books for you this week!

First up we dive into X-Men 151. In typical 80s fashion, Kitty's parents decide that she will no longer be attending Chucks school. and will instead be heading over to the Massachusetts Academy, headed up by none other than Emma Frost. So there's like 8% less bondage and mind wiping than the The School for Gifted Youngsters. So like any good 80s movie, wackiness ensues! This one has everything; body swapping, explosive cabinets, and Colossus flirts with a CHILD!

Next up is Uncanny X-Men 152, X Harder! The Hellfire break in continues, literally. The brain swappin' gun has Storm and Emma Frost in each other's bodies, like some Freaky Friday fever dream Professor X has on a Saturday night after eating too much chili. Everyone bags on the Hellfire Guard, And we find out everything that happens in this same comic ten years from now is al Wolverine's fault. Also, Kitty and Storm as Emma come to terms with their relationship and EmmaStorm learns her how to B&E telepathically! This issue has a more breaking and entering than any other X-Book to date, so listen in to find out all the details!

Episode 92 - Pod Raven Lives Again!

Welcome back, Children of Krakoa, as we dig into another two exciting books about those Men (and Women) of X!

First up, Uncanny X-Men Annual #5. We start out with the Fantastic Four checking into a lady with a laser gun, and things get weird from there. You've got your invisible aliens, Invisible Girls, and Storm having dreams of interdimensional Civil War. And then the sixth page really gets cooking! This one packs it in so strap down tight or she may throw ya!

Next up is Avengers annual #10 and the circus is in town! At least that is what the cover is trying to sell. The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants stop by, Carol Danvers is mind controlled into leaving our world and shacking up with her son in another dimension, and the Avengers just let her mind controlled self do it. It's a convoluted tale to be sure, but it's also the first appearance of Rogue, and you can tell she's up to no good because her haircut is TERRIBLE!!! This emotional roller coaster of a book almost made Roger and Drew come to virtual blows so make sure and listen to the very end!

Welcome home sweet students of X, we missed you. We really did. But, we shall forgive your wanderings and even reward you with a pair of X-Issues that will make your return all the more sweet!

First up, we have Uncanny X-Men 148. Storm, Stevie, and Spider-Woman take Kitty to a strip club, because what else do you do with a pre-teen on a Sunday after church, am I right? Okay, maybe it's a Saturday. And maybe it's actually a Dazzler concert. Also Angel has a shit fit because he thinks Wolverine is a psycho. AND, Scott manages to swim a good distance without being able to see, and visits his old pal Magneto in hos spiffy new eldritch horror retirement home!

Next up is X-Men 149. Magneto uses his powers to neutralize Scott's optic blasts, because magnetism! And the rest of the team pay a visit to our old pal Gary, better known to you X-Fans as Garrok! What sort of crazy hijinks has our old pal Gary been up to since the last time we stopped by to say hi? You will have to listen in to find out!

Man, I don't know about you, but when the summer months hit, all I want to do is sit around in my underpants and read comics. Unfortunately, my HR manager and I had to have a talk after that happened. So now I am on a "Written Warning". I tried to tell them I could not read, but the comics gave me away! Uptight co-workers!

Anyway, we have a pair of bangers for ya, as we first dive into Spider Woman #38. And this one is a literal banger, as Colossus bangs a big hole in a ship, and then our old pal Juggernaut bangs another hole to go after the man of metal. All that, and the police are sexist to Spider-Woman. Was anyone surprised by that? Anyone at all? All right then let's move on.

Next up we have X-Men 146, and we once again enter the least murderiest of worlds, Murderworld! Watch as no one dies! Gasp in horror as no one endures even the slightest of injuries! Episode 87 - The End of the Pod... Or the X-Men?!?

All right Blue Retrievers, this one is going to be quick and dirty. We decided to play to Roger's strengths!

First up we have what may be the darkest issue of the X-Men to date, as we start with X-Men 144. This one has lots of trigger warnings about terminal illness, as well as decisions one make in times of desperation. Please be warned that this issue contains a good deal of mature subject matter, so make sure you check this one out before letting the kids read it. And maybe have a discussion once it's all done!

Next up we swing to the other end of the spectrum with X-Men 145! Arcade is kidnapped by Doom, and no one cares. Well, one person cares, but she goes about asking for assistance in a really shitty way, and manages to pis everyone off. She clearly lost her copy of "ow to Win Friends and Influence People"! Who am I talking about? Why Is Doom making a move for Storm? And why do we have to deal with Arcade again? You will have to listen in to find out!

Episode 86 - The Sinister Shadow of... Podsday!!!

It's the 5th of July. The bald eagles have been shot at with fireworks, giving them babies to shoot fireworks at next year. At least that is my understanding of how the 'Murican traditions work. Hopefully everyone has all their fingers and toes on this the spookiest day of summer, the 5th of JULY!!!

But not all is covered in gunpower and cheap beer, our X-Men are covered in spider webs and demon goo! So clearly they are much better off!

First up we head to the X-mansion, where Katherine Pryde has been left to her own devices in Uncanny 143. She and a demon that Scott left alive (way to go, deputy leader!) play a really weird game of tag, and break some stuff. She then tries her hand at making it the turkey donner for the X-Team by cooking it in a fairly unique way, and no, it's not the deep fat fried turkey that put a hole in your uncle's roof last year!

Next up we take a gander at Spider-Woman 37, where the Marvel community get to have an intervention with Black Tom about his decades of questionable hair product choices. We don't know where he buys his pomade, but all bets are the grey stuff under Juggernauts toenails! Plus, this is also the debut of another Mighty Marvel Mutant, so hooray for the population boom!

First up, X-Men 139! Wolverine decides to cut the Canadian Government off at the pass and head up there before they come after him for the seventeenth time in five issues. He and Nightcrawler take off for the great white north and meet some old pals along the way. Not many people can claim to have man eating mythological beasts on their Boxing Day card list, but not everyone is Wolverine. He is the best he is at what he does, remember?

Next we dig our grubby little paws into X-Men 140! Now with more fiber! If you have ever wondered how you bridge two of the biggest stories in comic book history it's quite simple, go to Canada! That way tou can gran some Tim Horton's and poutine and enjoy the fisticuffs between Alpha Flight and everyone's favorite horror show, the Wendigo! First up we have X-Men 138, the book that answers the question, "What if the X-Men were a 70's sitcom, but everyone was sad?" I bet you didn't know anyone ever asked that question did you? Well Messiers Claremont and Byrne did, and now they're pushing it on us! Oh, and Cyclops quits the team.

Next is X-Men Annual 4, where the team goes to hell! Or at least a reasonable facsimile thereof. Nightcrawler's mom and old lady get up to some wacky 80s style shenanigans, and they manage to confuse Doctor Strange. Not as confused as when Danny Rand stuck his finger in a strangers' potato salad, but pretty close! Also, we find out some oddly held beliefs by Roger about Canadian women. All this and Wolverine hugs a snake, so listen in!

Next up is X-Men 131, where we pick up where last issue left us. Kitty is on the run from the Hellfire Club, and Phoenix comes in to comfort her. Then things get DARK. Get ready to be sad for a while, there is not much joy in this book for the next decade or so at least. We are heading into the Arcade today! Not the cool one with Skee-Ball and awkward teenagers, but the horrible one with murder pinball and awkward teens!

In issue 123, Spider-Man makes what is generously called a guest appearance. I'm not saying that description is incorrect, I'm just saying most of my guests don't out my secret identity to the streets of New York!

Next up we read issue 124, and boy howdy do things get weird! This one has everything! First up in X-Men 120, our merry band of mutants head to the happiest place on earth... Tijuana! Wait! No, it's the 31st happiest place on Earth, Canada! Calgary to be exact. Did you know Wolverine is Canadian? I don't think we should hold that against him, but there is a group of Canadians who do... Alpha Flight! The Canadian government wants the old canucklehead back, and they send their crack team of super operatives after him to pull him back into the fold. Me, I would have sent poutine and TimBits, but I love gravy and doughnuts, so maybe that wouldn't work on everyone.

Then we move into X-Men 121, and wouldn't you know it, those wacky mutants are still in Canada! Miss those one and done issues yet? Well if you do, I have some bad news, they ain't never comin' back! Okay, that may not be entirely true, but they will be few and far between, so strap in for the long haul!

Except for Emma Frost who is going to lobotomize someone with her pointy bra if she's not careful! The Sentinels attack, and then the Black King responds in kind. Emma pulls a Charles Xavier, but with more bullets.

Next up is Marvel Team up 69, with 100 percent less 69 than you would hope. What can be said about this issue that wasn't said the last time The Living Monolith showed up? Spider-Man webbed himself! Ant not in a 69 kind of way either. Although maybe if he uses that last web to pull his leg over his shoulder...

House of X Book Club Episode 54 - Cyclops Must Pod!

Just when you thought it was safe to return to the pod, There's a rumble from the darkest corners of space and the world will never be the same! Or, you know, someone had too much Taco Bell.

But what an episode! We have Eric the Red, Nightcrawler the Blue, and a Widow the Black!

First up, we dive into X-Men 97. Eric the Red returns, and fight Cyclops, which is a little awkward. One, because that outfit leaves NOTHING to the imagination, and two, Scott Summers' multiple personalities are just tiring.

This week we are diving into two fantastic comics! First up is Doctor Strange 182. Like a cracked mirror of nonsense, this whole issue is Doctor Strange going the long way around to fill out a change of address form with the USPS. The Juggernaut shows up with all his undelivered mail, and chaos ensues! lower case 'c' chaos, not 'C'haos. They have not shown up in any of our reading yet.

Next in the tube we have X-Men #60! This is it! We are in the final stretch! In this issue, the most dino-tastic villain in X-History shows up and does what X-Men villains do, repent and walk slowly into the forest. Wait, not this time! Something different happens! House of X Book Club Episode 28 - The Pod of the Banshee!

It's the end of the X-Men as we know it, and I feel fine! Welcome back to you our bookish friends! We are diving into some of the last third of the original X-Men shenanigans!

First up we take a look at X-Men 46. We are dealing with the aftermath of the death of a major character, and the Juggernaut shows up to whoop some candy asses! Back in the sixties you could buy candy asses at the soda fountain along with Coca-Cola with actual cocaine in it. Just kidding! They took the coke out of Coke in the thirties! The backup in this issues wraps up the origin of everyone's pal Iceman!

Next is X-Men 47, featuring the bodacious Beast and the incredible Iceman! They team up to fight a villain we thought (hoped) we would never see again! Bobby and Hank take Vera and Zelda out for a double date (ACTUALLY, Vera and Zelda take out Bobby and Hank) and that's where all the trouble starts! Hypotism, Superman style shenanigans, and some old fashioned trickery give us this team up tale! And in the backup, we meet the Beast again for the first time! He's sexist, his world bubbles take up half a page, he's THE BEAST!

House of X Book Club Episode 14 - Among Us Pod the Sentinels!

In another exciting episode of the pod, we dive into another couple of interesting issues! Frist we read X-Men number 24, featuring the crafty and conniving Locust! Otherwise known as Doctor Hopper, who perhaps had a villainous moniker a little too on the nose. The first part of an exciting (???) Locust thrillogy! It does span a few years so buckle up!

In our second issue, we dive into Daredevil number 13! John Romita Sr. Drew this one, so story be damned, it's gonna be good! We love us some JRSR here at the HoXBC survival bunker. I mean Compound! I mean Campaign Headquarters! Man, these just keep getting more and more evil...

House of X Book Club Episode 13 - Where Pods the Juggernaut!

Welcome back book clubbers! We have got a banger of an episode for you today! We discuss the many faces of Roger's eyebrows, as well as comic books! X-Men 23 and Avengers 13 to be precise. The battle with the Spider-Man J tier villains continues for what seems LIKE AN ETERNITY, and Porcupine may have committed a sex crime as he keeps asking The Unicorn if he wants to see how his pricker works. And in Avengers number 13, we meet Count Nefaria for the first time, so Iron Man and his gang are to blame for this whole mess. Current comic readers will recognize our buddy the count from New Mutants Lethal Legion, but it will be a while before we get to those books. The Dungeon of Doom also makes its first appearance. This is a real dungeon, not Kevin Sullivan and his Lethal Legion bent on the destruction of Hulkamania! Will the X-Men survive? What heinous crimes will Professor X commit? How will Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage survive the Tower of Terror match against 8 other men? You will have to listen to find out! (WCW results from 1996 are not discussed during this episode)

House of X Book Club Episode 12 - The Origin of Podfessor X!

Today on the House of X The Quiet Council digs deep into some X-Men lore. We talk about numbers 21 and 22. Lucifer brings us Dominus, the machine that can only be defeated by Professor X in a really bad Gandalf cosplay. And in issue 22, the X-Men encounter Count Nefaria and a list of Spider-Man B team villains that can only be described as... meh. I guess Count Nefaria spent his entire budget moving his castle to America piece by piece and didn't have anything left to score a Doc Oc or Green Goblin for this one. All this, plus the sulkiest team leader to ever grace a comic book in no way makes a move for the woman he loves. Way to bring the whole vibe down Cyclops!
