The first series is designed for 9 to 12 year old attempting to show children that history is fun, relatable, changeable and important. It urges kids to inquire about the past, feel angry, sad, empowered and inspired by the lives of other children. It encourages them to think beyond the classroom and consider their own agency and privilege within society. The second series is a bit different. Designed for teenagers, it uses oral histories to explore how British children and young people in Britain coped with the extraordinary changes that occurred during The Second World War and its aftermath. Taking young people on a journey through the experiences of young people in the past; evacuation, German bombardment, VE and VJ day, migration, nationalisation, and the birth of the teenager, this series uncovers more than what just happened. It shows young people how to challenge popular perceptions about our past, using a popular and common method used by historians today, oral history.
