<itunes:summary>Hillbilly Gospel is a faith-based podcast where we open the Bible, ask the hard questions, challenge assumptions, and have honest conversations about God, Jesus, Christianity, and what Scripture actually says.

Hosted by Brandon Couch, Hillbilly Gospel isn’t about pretending to have all the answers. It’s about seeking truth, wrestling with difficult passages, questioning what we’ve been taught, and growing in our understanding of God’s Word.

You don’t have to be a pastor, a theologian, or even have your faith figured out to join the conversation. Whether you’ve followed Jesus your entire life, you’re questioning your beliefs, or you’re simply curious about the Bible, there’s a place for you here.

No religious performances. No pretending. Just real people, real questions, and honest conversations about faith.

Keep your Bibles open and your questions honest. This is Hillbilly Gospel.</itunes:summary>

I have. And on this episode of Hillbilly Gospel, I'm asking my co-host Josh Hartley some questions that have been on my mind for a long time.

What if the Bible was written by men trying to control society? Why do we believe the biblical authors spoke with divine authority? And if Jesus showed up today looking like an ordinary guy, would we recognize Him or think He was crazy?

Those questions lead us into an even deeper conversation about spiritual warfare, the armor of God in Ephesians 6, prayer, fasting, addiction, and the struggles that don't magically disappear when we give our lives to Jesus.

We also talk about something I think a lot of people need to hear: You can love Jesus and still have questions. You can have faith and still struggle.

Josh and I don't claim to have all the answers, and that's exactly why we started this show.

If you've ever wrestled with Scripture, questioned your faith, or wondered why following Jesus can still be so difficult, pull up a chair and join the conversation.

Got a question about the Bible? Reach out or leave us a comment. We'd love to discuss it in a future episode.

Do you need a seminary degree to teach the Bible? Is knowing Scripture enough, or does your life need to reflect what you're preaching?

In this episode of Hillbilly Gospel, Brandon Couch introduces new co-host Josh Hartley, and the two jump into an honest, thought-provoking conversation about Christianity, biblical authority, humility, and what it really means to follow Jesus.

Josh shares his personal faith journey, his experiences studying Scripture, and why he believes that knowing the Bible means very little if you're unwilling to live it.

Together, Brandon and Josh explore whether formal theological education is necessary for ministry, why God repeatedly uses imperfect people throughout Scripture, and what the lives of Paul and David teach us about grace and transformation.

They also dig into the book of Ecclesiastes, discussing Solomon's pursuit of wisdom, wealth, and success—and why a relationship with God ultimately matters more than anything the world can offer.

Topics include:

Seminary school vs. God's calling

Biblical knowledge vs. biblical application

Accountability and humility in Christian leadership

Finding purpose and peace through Ecclesiastes

God's grace and the power of a transformed life

Sharing your faith through actions instead of pressure

Hillbilly Gospel isn't about having all the answers. It's about asking questions, opening Scripture, challenging our assumptions, and learning together.

New episodes every Sunday at 6:00 PM Eastern, wherever you listen to podcasts.

Have a question about the Bible or your walk with God? Send it our way. We'd love to discuss it in an upcoming episode.
