Barry worked as a Graphic Designer on both seasons of Andor, he also appeared on screen in the series as rebel Anto Kreegyr.  He is a massive Star Wars fan and provides an enthusiastic insight into the series, sharing details of his involvement and many of the hidden Easter eggs.

This was recorded in front of a live audience at the Farthest From Xmas Dinner on Saturday 9th December 2023, when Barry joined Jez on stage as part of the Generation Skywalker take over of the event.

Dan returns! Pete returns ! And guest hosts Jon Aves and Dave Tree return! As we continue to move through the eighties and into the era of The Return of the Jedi. Dave opens with an overview of what was happening behind the scenes at Palitoy in 1983, then gives us a breakdown of Palitoy’s mail away offers that year. Pete takes us through the vehicles, creature and play-sets and Jon takes us through the figures and the various card backs.

Dave sets the record straight with the story of the sheet of uncut Trilogo cards he uncovered. And no, they weren’t use to wrap meat!!!

As well as the items Palitoy released, we also look at the Kenner toys that didn’t make it to the U.K. and finish by discussing the end of the Palitoy brand in 1985.

Along the way the hosts all share memories of the toys from their childhood and as adult collectors.

As well as the items Palitoy did release, we also cover the Kenner items that didn’t make to the great British shores during those years. Craig also drops in to tell us all about the early Palitoy items that went beyond the toys and covers the advertising and point-of-sale materials the company deployed to sell us those wonderful toys. Along the way they share memories of the toys from their youth and as adult collectors.

Craig and Kimberley are joined by Will and Robin Arnold – not only to discuss Propstore, art collector William Plumb and artist Ken Barr – but to sit and review each piece ‘in person’ for the first time.

It's a refreshing discussion with a fan who sees the positives in ALL Star Wars, even if it's sometimes flawed.

As longtime fans who are heavily invested in Star Wars, what exactly does everyone think to this film? Which bits work and which bits don’t? And what tidbits of info have stayed lodged in our brains all these years? 

Consider this your formal invitation to hang out with the boys for 2 hours and 25 minutes as they candidly air their views in real time.

Its detractors are often quick to point at the bad dialogue, wooden acting and poor cgi, so why would Generation Skywalker dedicate a whole month to exploring a film most people are lukewarm about at best?

Because we we are convinced there’s more too it – things we’ve maybe missed and elements that certainly deserve closer examination with the hindsight of 20 years.

So join us as we set the the scene, with this short episode to kick-off 31 days of shows, unboxings and social posts that will explore the best and worst of the movie and its legacy.

The Star Wars community was saddened this week to learn of the passing of one of the friendliest actors in the franchise, Gerald Home who is best known for playing the ROTJ character Squid Head. Gerald always had time for the fans, would greet everyone with the biggest of smiles and was clearly happy to share his stories and experiences. 

In 2015, he was kind enough to be interviewed by Jez’s son Leo who was 9 years old and had been given the nickname Squid Head by Jez several years before! 

This interview beautifully encapsulates Gerald’s involvement with the fans. Even though the sound quality isn’t the best, the GS crew feel that the Star Wars community would love to listen to this interview. 

From the general story arc  and key characters, to the cover designs and the initial reaction of fans and  detractors – it’s a series of books that divided opinion at the time, but how do they stand up six years and three sequel films later?

Becca is one of the busiest people in the community – whether it's podcasting, writing reviews, penning articles or titling artwork, Becca has always got a project on the go.  

Her passion for Star Wars and especially the books and  literature really comes across in this interview as we discuss her background and the areas that inspire her the most.

After last month's movie-led loose line-up, Craig returns to examine just how accurate Kenner's accessory allocations were. Meet 11 year old Seth and hear how a chance encounter with a Rebel Commando in an old toy box set him and his dad, Richard, on a path to complete a loose run.  

It's been an online, locked-down journey of discovery for Seth and is proving an enjoyable nostalgia trip for Rich too. Though, with both of them being brand new to the hobby, there have been the inevitable mis-steps along the way.   

It's enlightening to hear such fresh perspectives on collecting, as Seth chats about repros, grading, the Dagobah playset and his indifference  towards Jar Jar Binks and animated Clones. This boy has a vintage head  on his young shoulders.  

Along with some choice reminiscences from Rich and reflections on Craig’s attempts to spark the collecting bug in his own children, it's an interview that will strike a chord with anyone whose parent/child bond has been strengthened by a shared love of old Star Wars toys.

As well as all our best bits, we lift the lid on the whole Generation Skywalker project, with an informal look behind the scenes of everything  we do, why we do it and what we plan to do next.

Retroblasting's, Michael French, recently posted a video defending the use of reproduction items and attacking the anti-repro groups. All four of our hosts sit firmly in the anti-repro camp, BUT do the repro supporting members of the hobby have a point?

The team take the main points from the video and discuss them in depth. What damage do reproductions do? Were they more accepted in the earlier days of the hobby? Is there a place for any reproduction part in the hobby? Could the Facebook groups do more with regards to finding some middle ground? Is it time to change our opinions?

It's a Mandalorian and Phantom Menace feast this month, as the team look at the latest update on the Haslab Razor Crest, the Mandalorian Retro Collection line and many other announcements.

The team also celebrate The Phantom Menace trailer – released 22 years ago this month – with a trip down memory lane to discuss all the hype, toys and merchandise from around the release of Episode One.

Written in 1896, it's very early science fiction horror story telling the tale of a man trapped on the island home of a mad scientist who creates human-like hybrid beings by experimenting on humans and animals.

But how does all that relate to Star Wars? We are thinking, of course, of George Lucas’s fascination in creating alien races by taking earth-bound animals and turning them into human-like beasts.

So looking at things in that (rather grim) context we explore some of the creatures of Star Wars, while reimagining Lucas as a mad scientist surrounded by his creations.

From Concept To Screen To Collectible was the catalyst book for the Star Wars collecting hobby and impacted everyone who purchased it back in 1992. Since then, he has released action figure guides, poster books, encyclopedias, vaults, price guides, scrapbooks and quote books. And take it from us, every one of them is a must in any Star Wars library.

We discuss the impact of both From Concept To Screen To Collectible and The Tomart's Guide in depth, as well as looking at Steve's other literary works. This is a fascinating insight into a much loved pioneer of our hobby and an essential listen for any collector.

Rich is a huge Expanded Universe fan and chooses his five favourite EU books and why they mean the most to him, as well as explaining why he is so invested in the literature of Star Wars.

Since February, Jez and Stuart have been producing a short (35-50 minute) monthly Running Stormtrooper Podcast. An easy listening, fresh podcast aimed at sharing some positivity and hopefully some fun. It's family friendly and of interest to everyone; runners, Star Wars fans, would-be charity fundraisers or people bored of negativity and in need of a new hope.
