Scream 7

No spoilers. I just rambled on about Scream 7 and I found it to be entertaining. For the 7th movie in the franchise, I feel it's still holding things together. It's not perfect, not the best, however it was entertaining. Better than some of the other horror/slasher franchises if they reach to this level. I want horror, specifically slashers to still be active in the future. Supporting them is the only way. Yes, Scream 7 was middle of the road, however it is worth a watch. And encouraging others to see it and make their own decision if it's good or bad. I'm frustrated with individuals putting the movie down on opening weekend. We need to support movies and the theater, before it goes away. I also talk briefly about the voiceover work I did for a commercial. Another great day of movies The Long Walk - based off of the Stephen King book, I plan to discuss this further with a future episode. Then I watched 2 classic Universal monster movies, both the 3rd in a trilogy. Son of Frankenstein and The Creature Walks Among Us. Both outstanding, not as good as the original/first in their respective trilogy, yet they hold their own. Thank you for listening.

I was able to get 2 movies in, it was a little bit tougher today, however I squeaked them in. Had this one movie on a list and it fit in perfectly for Shocktober. Severance (2007) While looking for this movie, Altered States(1980) crossed my path. Haven't viewed it in many a year. I was in the mood for something trippy. Enjoy the episode.

Another great day and I was able to watch 2 more interesting Foreign Horror Movies. One from Ireland and the other from France. Both are uniquely different. Had a good day. Felt motivated to watch a foreign horror movie and Guillermo Del Toro was on my mind because of Frankenstein. So I indulged in Cronos. Then it was Mystery Movie Monday and I really hoped for horror. My intuition was correct, Shelby Oaks was the mystery movie. Definitely had a stronger beginning than end. Enjoyed it for not knowing what it was. Thank you for listening.

I'm continuing to watch the few movies that Osgood Perkins has directed. Of course I noticed a theme with 2 of them with the use of the devil. So I viewed them 2 days in a row. I kinda spaced it about watching his movies for SHOCKTOBER, then I saw that the trailer for his new movie "Keeper" is now available. I'm planning to go regardless, so I hope to not see the trailer. The teaser was enough. This brief episode is 12 minutes of me discussing The Blackcoats Daughter and Longlegs. Both unique and different from mainstream horror. Worth a watch. Started to dip into some early cinematic decades. First movie was a review of a 1942 romantic comedy, not really horror except it did have a Witch as a primary character. I gave it a pass, the 1940s was a tough decade for horror, I wanted a new watch. Second movie was Stephen King's "Thinner" I give a fun story about the theatrical experience of this one. The Monkey

Stephen King's The Monkey has been brought to life this year in Oz Perkins, The Monkey. The short story was first published in 1980 as a booklet and then added to a compilation of King's stories in Skeleton Crew(1985). A movie that was clearly influenced by his story was The Devil's Gift (1984). It was even a Dollar Baby and a short film released in 2023. I discuss all this and more in the episode. The Scary Movie franchise

I do a small breakdown of the Scary Movie franchise. Mostly it's just rambling about the Five movies. Mentioning the movies that gave the foundation for each one. At the end I do give a ranking of my favorite to the least favorite. I do enjoy the Scary Movie franchise, but they're not for everyone. They're very un-poltically correct. Absolutely insulting at times, but no one is safe. no gender. no race. Open for everyone and anyone to be a victim. Yet, I can dumb down the brain and enjoy the parodies of many better horror movies. Winter Movies

More winter movies that induce the cold. A year ago I had another Winter themed episode, discussing some of the chilling movies. This episode I choose some lighter movies of sorts. Two different types of comedic movies that incorporate the winter landscape as an additional character. Fargo and Grumpy Old Men, one a dark comedy of sorts and the other a buddy romantic comedy. With the " Polar Vortex " looming over parts of America, these movies will help pass the time of the deep chill in the air. Thank you for listening and more to come in the future.

The list of ten movies, may not necessarily be the best of 2024, however the ten that I know I'll revisit in the future, some might even be a regular annual watch. Thanksgiving Comfort movies

Just a quick rambling to inspire the upcoming holiday. Needed a distraction so I thought I'd ramble about those holiday comfort movies. In regards to these "comfort movies" it is in reference to those cinematic staples that you watch around the holidays. I have many great memories of going to the cinema or sitting on the couch with my siblings, absorbing a movie or several movies. I rattled off a few examples in the episode. One example being, a marathon of James Bond movies on a cable network. I plan to do a deeper rambling in the next episode about this mega franchise of cinematic gold. Hope all is well and enjoy this small appetizer for a much larger episode.

Every October, the magic of the season turns up my viewing to straight horror and it becomes... Shocktober. With a few simple rules : 31 different subgenres of horror 10 different countries with at least one movie from each decade since 1920 Average rating above 6/10 Majority of the movies, new or new to me It is always ambitious, however attainable. Plus, more and more individuals as well as websites/social media outlets. Post their own version of watching a horror movie a day. Some are more stringent, even giving titles to view While others just give a theme/topic for each day. This was something that changed over the years for me. Encouragement from family and friends has gotten me to this current format. Giving suggestions and tweaks to the formula. Thank you for my listening. I'll save that for #100 So I settled on a challenge of watching all the horror movies theatrically released since 1990 Now this is an interesting going challenge, but the 30 year challenge is the one I briefly discussed. 976 horror movies from 1990-2019 It was created by my great friend Jody Branham and supported by me. It was a challenge, highs and lows for each of us, but we helped to encourage each other along the way. Definitely a highlight in my cinematic viewing career.
