Far West Texas BBNP2025 Fun with Friends Part 3

This episode of Fort Worth Famous finds Susie in Far West Texas with Dustin from JJTM, Andrew and MegAnn from FWRoots, and Jeremie and A-Aron from the Flower Shop in Austin. We braved wind storms, dust storms, and the Texas sun, and had the BEST time ever. We started our trip in Big Bend National Park where we celebrated Andrew's 40th birthday and his engagement to his cohost. Love was in the air! Big Bend is always amazing and life changing and this year did not disappoint. Listen to Part 1 on Fort Worth Roots for more on this.

Moving on from Big Bend we hit up the BB Ranch State Park and made our way up the most beautiful highway in Texas, Hwy 170 (also known as River Road), before hitting up Presidio and making our way to Marfa. Listen to Part 2 about our interaction with the Marfa Lights on the Jerry Jonestown Massacre Podcast. Again... life changing.

This episode is a recap of our trip along with some added fun of Dustin and Susie hitting up two more national parks and two more state parks before spending the night in Cloudcroft, NM, in a haunted hotel called The Lodge.

Christmas Time is Here

Whew! It's been a minute! We have had a lot go on over the last six weeks and it felt good to get back on the mics and talk about it all. From the loss of our father/grandpa to birthdays and weddings...we cover it all! Susie and Katie got tattoos, attended a soup/painting party, and have started to enjoy the wonders of all that is Christmas time in the Dee Eff Dub. Fort Worth Rock Assembly has come back and it was amazing to see all our friends come together to play to incredible nights. Ivy and Katie went on a sister's date with Tirzah to the Dallas Arboretum and their Fall Festival days, while Susie attended Lost n' Sound in the South Main District of Fort Worth. All in all, life is all good and we are blessed to be part of such a wonderful community, within our town and within our family.

As you make your way out into the world this week, take a second to give thanks for all the goodness all around us.

Music minute discusses the Even Better Than the Real Thing and Bikini Whales show last night at Cicada and upcoming shows for Mean Motor Scooter and The Spectacle, also at Cicada.

One more thing - Monday Night September 09th - Lego Night at Cicada! Bring your Bricks and your Buds and let's have some fun! 6pm to 10pm. Yay!

During the Bestie Book Club segment, we learn that one of us has read 27 books so far this year and we talk about how much all of us love unlocking the achievements in our reading apps.

Ivy and Katie visited a restaurant in Dallas that is all pink... ALL pink!! And they finished up their booty boot camp and we discussed the results.

We also talk about the pros and cons of a daily cleaning routine versus a Sunday Reset. Let us know which you think is better.

Episode 90 finds us with long time personal friend, and friend of the show, Henry O! Texas bringing the Heat

Susie and Katie are back at it for episode 82 of Fort Worth Famous. Our doggies join us for this very special episode, so you will hear us talking to them quite a bit. Katie tells us all about her travels, Susie survived 120 mph straight-line winds, and find out what happened when one of us played Cards Against Humanity with some ultra-conservative Christians (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Our Famous Focus this week is The Cicada again! Tyler and John are working so hard to bring in the peeps....they've come up with creative happy hours, craft nights, Drag Bingo, Burlesque nights, and of course lined up lots of local and traveling bands to play for us. They're also working with Fort Worth Animal Care and Control to have regular adoption events. We hope that everyone we know will become regulars at this lovely establishment.

We're Not Really Famous Strangers has 7 more questions for you to learn more and me and Katie. The spell she chooses to use to resolve a mundane task is one of my favorites!

It’s Hotter’nhail in Texas

Welcome back to the Casita, friends! Katie and I give you an hour and a half of basic chaos where we discuss aliens, evolution, paint nights, and Real Housewives.

Our Famous Focus this week is on public are in Fort Worth, so get out their and catch some of the beautiful art the Unexpected City has to give. You can find murals, sculptures, art bombs and more all over this town. Take a pic of your faves and let us know in the comments your go to art piece to visit.

Also, next week - Wednesday August 9th Denver Williams has a show at the Cicada with lots of his pals playing support. But that's not the important part.. the important part is that he will be cooking up grilled cheese sammies ALL night, well, when he's not on stage!

Keep an eye out for upcoming shows in September from the new Mean Motor Scooter line up! To say Katie and I are excited is putting it mildly.

One last thing...we play a new game this week based on "getting to know you questions" and it's probably my favorite thing I've done with Katie so far. This will be our new "red flags" segment, but don't worry, we will throw that in every once in a while, too.

You, Me, and 2023

It's the first episode of 2023! Listen in as we get all caught up on the Holidays and what's been going on for us in the New Year. I feel like mine has been super boring, but we will see how the year unfolds. Ivy has a girls trips in the books and Susie is obsessed with butter dishes. This college football season has been a doozy and although we know how it ended on Monday, when we recorded Sunday we were still full of hope. Susie and Teri's Bestie Book Club read a book by a problematic author and Ivy is in the middle of an epic 20+ book saga that culminates in one last novel this year. Red Flags is always a fun game and we find out what's happening with Ivy's dating life. What did she burn and does she reveal what she wants to let go of in the New Year? We don’t do resolutions, but we both sit down and figure out how we hope 2021 shapes up for us. You’ll find out how we spent our holiday vacations, which one of us got the COVID Vaccine, and, as always, Ivy’s dating life makes for excellent airplay.

We also talk about what we’ve been up to – visiting local markets, a documentary at Haltom Theater, and how did Susie do having two dogs in the house again? Once more, we spend way too much time talking about the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, but I am fascinated. I can’t look away! Susie's back!

Susie is back in the treehouse this week! Join us as we talk about Ivy’s obsession with egg distribution, Susie’s obsession with Reelz (since she can’t have a Tik Tok), and we are both excited about the Real Housewives of SLC coming on the air! We have had a lot going on over the last few weeks and it was fun to catch up about all that we have done, including a trip to a Wildlife Park, camping, and something has happened to Ivy that never happened before. In this episode’s Thanks for the Memories, we discuss ghosts of dudes past, try to figure out why someone would solicit Susie for pics and see just how creepy that got. I wish you could have seen Ivy’s face when I dropped that little bombshell. Red Flags vs. Deal Breakers was fun and informative, as usual!

Football is Back, Baby!

Football is back! This week we attempted to record while watching some of the first football games of the season. Listen in as we talk about the juice cleanse we did the previous week, one of us has a friend moving away and is just devastated, and you will learn which one of us has eaten snails off a food truck and hear the epic reaction of the other. This episode we really dive deep into listener-submitted Red Flags vs. Deal Breakers and it’s a lot of fun! Our FWF Feature is about bars and venues opening back up! It’s very exciting and a little bit scary, but Mean Motor Scooter has a showing coming up at MASS and that might be attractive enough to get Ivy out of the house and into a bar… just stay six feet away from her, please.

Coffee Talk with Ivy and Susie

We know we want to talk about Black Lives Matter and what is going on in Fort Worth, but we also want to do it right – so we are having friends come in to do an extra special bonus episode this coming Sunday. Be on the lookout for it!
