In this episode I speak with Uncle Peter Williams of Ngemba Country in NSW. He is a senior song person and contributed to a chapter in my new book Belonging to the Earth. We chat about how he got into learning about traditional song and dance practices, the area he's from around Brewarrina, the River Tour, and his dreams to set up a cultural center. If you'd like to know more about Uncle Peter's work, you can find him on Facebook via his artist page Mara Mara:

https://www.facebook.com/peterthulliiwilliams

Belonging to the Earth is about ways that the nature spirituality community is responding to the threat of the climate crisis. One important way is through learning more about First Nations culture and how we can better care for the Earth together.

A signed copy of the book along with art postcards - one of which features Uncle Peter's art - are available to purchase via my jewelry website:

In this episode I check in a bit about where I've been and where you can find out about the DDUDE talks (Druids Down Under Discuss Everything) that I have been working on. Find them here at the SerpentStar OBOD channel:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaB05FdAhVRP1v5XlGQiwVw

Due to bushfires and COVID-19 life has changed a great deal in the last few months. Personal struggles made it hard for me to get podcasts out, however community adaptation in these times of adversity has meant some great developments and this meditation is one of them! Created by Kacey Stephensen with some little effects added by me, it was made for the SHOBODO event 1-10th May 2020, for our Samhain ritual. I hope you enjoy the journey it takes you on to seek the wisdom of the Cailleach and the ancestors. Many blessings of the season to you!

In this episode I speak with Louise Hewett who is the author of the Pictish Spirit series of fiction novels. The books explore the ethics of intimacy and sexual politics, looking at many challenging themes that explore discussion around the acceptability of cultural norms. It covers feminism, the sexualisation of violence, sexuality and relationships, as well as being set in a very Pagan community of present day Adelaide. While exploring these political themes, Louise also explores the reality of Pagan life in the spiritual experiences of everyday people in ritual, meditation, healing and open awareness. The books are enormous and a real outpouring of Louise's inspiration. They are full of poetry and musical lyrics and she has also inspired musicians within the Pagan community to put her words into their art. The interview also includes some of these tracks.

We made friends as we both have done video episodes of 'Tea with a Druid' for the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids (OBOD). We get started talking about that experience and then have a long conversation about all kinds of things! Paul helps run the Queer OBOD (QOBOD) Facebook group so we also get into gender and sexual identity politics within Druidry, among many other things. It was great to have a chat with him. I hope you enjoy our long rambles.

In Druidry we try to be inclusive and accepting, and though many people in Druidry might call themselves Pagan, there are many others who identify instead as polytheist, agnostic, atheist, or even combine their Druidry with other paths like Christianity or Buddhism. I hope you enjoy listening to another facet of the world of Druidry and what the practice is like for Matt.

In this episode I talk to Philip Carr Gomm who is the current Chosen Chief of the Order of Bards Ovates and Druids (OBOD). We speak about the Southern Hemisphere OBOD Assembly held near Wellington in New Zealand. Our discussion of the diversity of Druidry leads the discussion to adaptation practices, the experience of feeling 'at home' anywhere in the world, or opening up to presence and the sense of wonder at the new. We also talk about the psychology behind that, as well as many aspects of pilgrimage and travel. We also talk about what it's been like for him to pass over the role of Chosen Chief to Eimear, and what this means for him personally.

He's an incredibly interesting, genuine and nice person and it was wonderful to have a chat with him about these experiences. I hope you enjoy it too!

We met at SHOBODA in January - the Southern Hemisphere OBOD Assembly - that was held near Wellington in New Zealand and hosted by the Grove of the Summer Stars. We chat about cultural diversity in Druidry, language and storytelling, connecting with the land and making good relationships and friendships to foster cultural awareness of the First Nations. Her insights on the Irish language and culture, my experiences in Australia, and our shared experience of New Zealand guiding the talk.

I also ask her about what it's been like for her moving into the role of Chosen Chief, how that came about, and in what ways she hopes to add to the course and the order in her time in the role.

It's going to be held on 14th to 16th October in Pennant Hills. It's not for profit and is run entirely by volunteers. We do it for the love. So it's really affordable! $140 for adults for two nights accommodation, food, feast, and all the activities. Get $10 off with an early bird ticket if you order yours before 30th July 2016. Not long to go! Find out all the details and get your tickets at:

I'm going to have a market on the Sunday. You can come for the whole weekend, just a day or just the market. There are lots of options.
I hope you enjoy this chat about what the event means to us and what you can expect. A great experience for adults and kids alike.

He's still "in the broom closet" as in he's prefering to remain anonymous about his Pagan path right now, so he's just going by SkepticalDruid in this podcast. He's new to Druidry and has started documenting his experience in Podcasts and Vlogs on You Tube. I've got to say I was a little out of sorts during this interview! I had only found out that day that we are moving house and I was a bit churned up about it.

This is a bit of a before and after podcast. I attended a ritual organised by some friends in the Wiccan tradition for the Autumn Equinox. I was crowned Beltaine Queen last year in October so this ritual was another part of that story for the year. It was really moving. I talk about goals and harvests, lessons for the year, about unity and community, loss, the mystery of death, and connectedness. It was a great ritual and I'm feeling well and truly shifted into the dark half of the year. If you'd like to know more about neo-Paganism and the rituals of the wheel of the year, you can find some info on my blog:

<itunes:summary>This is a bit of a before and after podcast.

[EDIT 2017: You can now also read about it in my book 'Australian Druidry: Connecting with the sacred Landscape' by Julie Brett. ]

In this episode I explain how the podcast has changed in those three years, beginning with a focus on my jewelry work of www.forestspiritjewelry.com and slowly becoming more about my work with Australian Druidry, Druids Down Under and the Druidry community. By listening to this introduction I hope it helps you understand how the story of this podcast progresses over time. It's been a wonderful journey learning to make podcasts and coming to create lovely connections in the community. I hope you enjoy listening.
