Godspeed rebels! It's our seventeenth episode, and Steve's guest is the funny and fierce friend that is Liam Dempsey! In a chat that roaringly rampages from repetitive revenge movies to the warm furry embrace of a wandering feline, Steve and Liam go on a highly personal trek into tragically recent past events to discuss "Allegiance".

Liam delves deep into his family history to recount the story of his great-grandfather Frank Dempsey, whose life's work was defined by his allegiance to his fellow Irishmen and women fighting for freedom against oppressive English rule. What follows is a history lesson and sometimes literal testimony; an epic human tale in which allegiances are tested, broken, and forged. In a time where we think of ourselves as "citizens of the world" gloriously distracted by content, to whom should we owe our allegiance? Is it to our families who we are bound to shelter and protect? Is it to our self-appointed Liege-Lords who demand it from us? Or is it to the people we choose to gift it to?

Liam is a seasoned podcaster and award-winning storyteller. A true media connoisseur, has been a film and TV reviewer for BBC Radio Sussex and Surrey. He is also one of the founding trio of Spocklight Podcast, in which Star Trek is lovingly re-assessed from a non-Trekkie perspective. Guests have included Sean McLoughlin, Ronnie Rowe Jr and even legendary film director Richard Donner.

We celebrate our sweet sixteenth episode with Nathan D'arcy Roberts, who both shares and surpasses Steve's lifelong love affair with cinema. In a dense, organic chat awash with further reading; Steve and Nathan allow their inner "cinephiles" to wax widescreen. Is there a special magic that elevates filmmaking above the other art forms? Do all films have an inherent dignity passed down from the greatest opus to even the most hated flop? Is a film bound by an obligation to entertain, or the responsibility to be brutal and unflinching? What are those tiny unspoken moments that make you realise you're in love with a film? And what are your pet peeves that make you a torment to whomever has the bad luck to be sat next to you in the theatre? And is eight hours an acceptable running time?

Nathan D'arcy Roberts is a brilliant writer, filmmaker and stand-up comedian. Since starting comedy in 2014 he has been nominated for the BBC Radio New Comedian Award and got to the semi-finals of So You Think You're Funny. In 2018 he became the recipient of BBC's prestigious Felix Dexter bursary, to develop his writing into pilot scripts with BBC Writer's Room and the Comedy Commissioning department. He is due to make his debut in Edinburgh fringe this year with "Glowed Up", at Out Of The Box, at Just The Tonic at the Caves, 12:40pm. Go and see him because he's a star!

Fifteenth episode, with a bullet! Steve moonlights as couples counsellor for the first ever episode of the podcast to feature two guests; the adorkable Karen Hobbs and Richard Stott. In a naughty, anarchic and heart-on-sleeve chat, the three near-strangers fall madly in love over "Flechazo"; the arrow-shot. Is it possible to fall in love at first sight like in the classic tales and myths? Is it a warm fuzzy feeling, or a doom-laden inconvenience? Are snails the Cupids of the animal kingdom, or the ultimate hate-fuckers? How long can you struggle in love's grip before you admit the truth you knew from day one? And most interestingly, can we deprogram our cynical adult brains and shed the unfair wounds of our pasts, and become loved-up teenagers again?

Richard and Karen are both going to Edinburgh with shows this year, so go and see them because they're both brilliant! Richard is bringing his wry candidness to living with Poland Syndrome in "Right Hand Man" at 12:45 at Gilded Balloon. Our fourteenth episode arrives the morning after the European elections, so why not drown your sorrows with Steve and his best buddy Greg Lock. With fresh passport in hand, Greg provides us with a comprehensive unpacking of the polarising pageantry of "Patriotism". Is love for one's country an antiquated notion? Is it something we're born into, or learned? Are there things to be proud of in a nation infamous for its problematic past? What bitter disagreements could cause a nation to fall out of love with itself? And how does our patriotism ebb and flow during our lifetimes; as we negotiate the choppy waters of family, history, and our own identity?

Greg Lock met Steve at The Arts University College At Bournemouth, where they both studied filmmaking and later lived together. Whilst still a keen filmmaker, writer and artist; Greg decided to follow a life of service as a paramedic in the London Ambulance Service. He operated in the Big Smoke for four years before moving back to his home of Dorset. Recently Greg went on an intense personal journey to discover more about the life of his grandfather, George Lock, who he'd long idolised as a rear-gunner in a Lancaster bomber during World War II.

What is "Viraha"? As the podcast reaches a Baker's Dozen, Steve talks to the delightful Sam Lake about how love can be begin with, grow stronger from, and even flourish through; separation. In a decidedly pleasant chat, Sam tells us a refreshingly optimistic tale that spans fringe flings, latitudinous love stories, and cream-based controversies. Can absence truly make the heart grow fonder? Can a romantic relationship go the distance whilst remaining long-distance? Sam's star is rising in comedy. In 2016 he won South East Comedian Of The Year, and then in 2018 won Hastings Fringe Newcomer Of The Year and the much-coveted Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian Of The Year. He is a veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe, even getting a joke in the hallowed "40 Best Jokes From The Edinburgh Fringe" list. As we enter our twelfth night, Steve sits down with comedy powerhouse Charlie Vero-Martin to weave a magical evening of whiskey, laughs and shortbread. Charlie brings a tenacious initiative and preparation to the table, managing to subvert and also embody: "Enchantment". We're back, and we've taken it up to 11! In the first episode of the "second season" of the podcast, Steve sits down with the super-heroic Jordan Gray to bathe in the seductive light of stardom. Having moon-walked between a succession of sparkling careers (pop star, reality tv, radio, panto, and ultimately stand-up comedy glory), Jordan is ideally placed to report back from both sides of the spotlight. What possesses us to become the centre of attention? Whose love are we really chasing? Do we even need to chase love, ever again? Do the luminaries we worship exist to us in a real way, or are we projecting onto them our own journey? And most pressingly; is it possible to get spat out the other side of fame with our reputation, our dignity, and our sense of self intact.

Jordan's star rose in 2016 on The Voice #TeamPaloma, blazing a trail as the show's first transgender contestant. As "Tall Dark Friend", Jordan spent a decade in the pop and indie music industry and then in 2017 seamlessly transitioned to stand-up comedy. She will be returning to Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year as part of the cracking line-up of "Best In Class", a show that champions working class comics. Ten out of ten! Headlining the first "season" of the podcast we have the trailblazing badass that is Esther Manito, who sits down with Steve between school-runs to reflect on "Narcissism". How much do our loved ones really shape the people we become? Our identity, our confidence, even our voice. Is narcissism an exaltation, or the cruelest punishment? Can a narcissist ever really change? And can we forgive someone who hasn't even acknowledged forgiveness is required?

Esther is an Anglo-Lebanese writer and comedian, hailed for her dry observational style and candid material. She's routinely graced the finals of numerous competitions, notably Funny Women and So You Think You're Funny 2017. In July 2018, she made history as the first woman to perform comedy at the Dubai Opera House as part of Arts Canteen's "Arabs Are Not Funny" night. This year Esther is waging her hour-long debut show "Crusade", in which she takes on motherhood, nationalism, identity and family. The show is coming to Brighton Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, so clear a path! Next preview is 16th April at the Love Shack in Bethnal Green.

Hubert Mayr is a hilarious up and coming comedian haunting the London circuit like a dark cloud, his morose delivery and pitch-black material getting him to the final of Leicester Square New Comedian Of The Year 2018. He is soon to perform at Brighton Fringe with a show called "Attendance Mandatory" alongside comedian Martin Durchov. He also achieved the not insignificant feat of beating the gong at the mortifying King Gong show, earning him a spot at the hallowed London Comedy Store on the 27th April. Steve sits down with the supercool Jen Ives to tackle "Taboo", a word born out of confusion and awkwardness and subsequently torn between the shameful and the sacred. In possibly our widest-ranging chat yet that bounces from the cosmic to the personal, Steve and Jen play a comprehensive round of "Is it Taboo, or GTFOI…?" and ponder how it intersects with her life, love and self. Can a person themselves be a taboo? What is taboo that wasn't always? What is no longer taboo that always was? Are we standing right on the edge of that change? Can all taboos be broken? And should they?

Jen is a Brighton-based comedian, who won 2nd place at The Laughing Horse New Act Of The Year in 2018, and got to the final of Liecester Mercury New Comedian Awards in 2019. Every Wednesday in May she will be hitting Brighton Fringe Festival with her debut show "OestroJen" (21:30 the first night, then 17:00 for the rest). She also has her own podcast on Soundcloud called "Musical Chairs", in which she and fellow comedian Jade Gebbie chat about musicals, so get that in your ears too!

Steve reunites with his 2018 Edinburgh split-show partner, the wickedly funny Lily Phillips, to talk about the overpowering, life-changing and frankly manipulative affect that dogs have on human beings. In a lewd, crude, highly anatomical chat that veers wildly on and off-topic, Lily takes us on a walk through the story of how becoming a dog-owner has shaken her cynicism to the core. Are dogs really more loving and loveable than the other beasts? Do they fill your heart up with love or use it all up? Is it physically possible to not take a dog home? Can a dog actually change our personality and mental state? Also, do horses have balls? And most important; are hamsters, in fact, bullshit?

Lily is the founder of hit comedy cabaret group The Ruby Darlings, producing comedy songs with a fabulously sardonic focus on feminism and sexual politics. The group earned 5* reviews and sold-out crowds both sides of the pond at Edinburgh and Orlando Fringe Festivals. Transitioning seamlessly to stand-up in 2017, Lily is finding wide acclaim on the London comedy circuit. She's performed at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York, recorded for Comedy Central, and was a finalist at Funny Women in 2018. She and Steve's 2018 Edinburgh show was called "Hoo-Ha!" where they shared a bill for the whole run to lovely reviews, weird crowds, and shockingly they are still seemingly friends.

In our sixth instalment, Steve sits down with affable rising star comedian Maisie Adam to discuss a loving word that has no English translation; "Naz". In an endearingly open-hearted chat, Maisie lays out the case for personal pride, the pitfalls of pedestals and how she finally found the perfect partnership.

Is the pride you feel from being loved enough to sustain you if you don't love yourself 100%? Should we even need someone else to complete us at all? Could that person even love the incomplete version of us? Can we learn to love our scars, real and imagined? And for God's sake, can't we get no satisfaction?

Maisie is the proud winner of So You Think You're Funny 2017 and the Amused Moose National New Comic Award in 2018. She's currently cracking onto television with ITV2's "The Stand-Up Sketch Show", and her debut hour "Vague" was a sell-out smash at last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, earning her rave reviews and a nomination for Best Newcomer. And we're five by five! It's day vs night as Steve sits down with his own identical twin brother; artist and storyteller David Trumble. Over a snifter of whiskey, the Brothers Trumble draw upon nearly 33 years of living side by side to both interrogate and celebrate the turbulent bond that is brotherhood. In a lifetime-spanning, raucous and admirably candid chat, they ask each other questions they've never asked, shed light on memories halved, and mediate the trading of both comedic and literal blows. Should we all treat the rest of the world as our brother? Is your brother your best friend or your worst enemy, like in the stories? Does one brother being an extrovert turn the other into an introvert? And who in the hell is talking right now?

David is an award-winning cartoonist, author and illustrator. He started out doing political cartoons for one of the largest newspapers in the world and since has found his storytelling passion writing and illustrating children's books as well as working as a story artist for animated movies. He is also an accomplished public speaker, giving speeches (including two Tedx Talks) on storytelling, discovery and creativity.

The Fourth is with us! Steve sits down with William Stone, a comedian whose well-honed on-stage persona is like a quantum-locked throwback to a brighter, happier, funnier time. In a thoughtful and considered chat, Billy and Steve cut deep into their own pasts to answer the nagging questions of the present: Were the good ol' days really so? Can Jar-Jar Binks be fixed in one single scene rewrite? Does anyone ever get to live in the decade they were born for? Does the current "trend" of big-reveal confessional comedy really have more integrity than honest-to-goodness jokes and clowning? And will we ever see a return to the time when comedy was uncalculating, child-like and for everyone?

In 2018 William was a finalist in the BBC New Comedy Award, appearing on BBC Radio4 and BBC Radio2. In 2019 he is doing his first solo comedy show "Gathering Moss" at Brighton and Edinburgh fringe festivals. Definitely a talent to watch and follow; a one-liner comedian that truly feels singular.

In a wide-ranging chat we discuss art history, our talented families, funny dads, incongruous hands, snobby robots, how beauty and genius are the hidden villains of art, and how horny imps and illness are its saviour.

in 2016, Harriet won Best Newcomer at the Musical Comedy Awards and the much-coveted Funny Women "Stage Award". Her 2017 debut Edinburgh show "Total Eclipse Of The Art" was a sold-out hit. She'll be returning to the fringe this year with something altogether new and exciting, so do go see that too!

In our sophomore instalment, Steve sits down with the gloriously unpredictable, loveably frayed-round-the-edges, sometimes frankly terrifying comedian Pope Lonergan. With swords and cricket bats brandished, they embark on a perilous quest to discover the darker side of virtue, braving all manner of monsters, nightmares and riddles along the way. Is it possible to love someone by saving them? Who's going to save them from you? And why is that tugboat speaking in a Welsh accent?

Pope is a London-based comedian known for his provocative, brutally candid material. His show "Pope's Addiction Clinic" just finished a sold-out run at London's VAULT Festival and will be heading to Brighton and Edinburgh Fringes in 2019.
