Most people go crazy at least once in their lifetime. For some, it's the moment of truth. For most, it’s hidden, minimized, and buried under external and internal shame. A 51/50 can be a bracelet that never quite comes off, and friends and family often spend years in queasy distrust waiting for the other shoe to drop, disregarding anything you say that might make sense because ... that one time... you know.

The problem is, we almost never know. The agony, ecstasy, and ignominity of mental health is considered deeply private, perhaps even unacceptable for public consumption. Sheltering the memory even from themselves, many "crazy" people will tell you they "weren't really there." Unfortunately for me—and fortunately for you—I was there, and I got it all on tape.

In 2021, as my 40th birthday approached, a cromulent f*ckcrustable of covid fatigue, relational abuse, political gaslighting, unending construction noise, and medication withdrawl shot me off into a manic episode that lasted just over four months. The depression that followed lasted almost six.

While friends and family fretted over how I was going to "land this plane," I was out having the time of my life.

Sleeping on the street with new friends, unearthing secret pentagrams in San Francisco's architecture, uncovering alphabetic mathematics never before known, I recorded a podcast called "The Godcast," which I was certain would rocket me to super-stardom and change the face of the world as we know it.

Best made plans, right?

Six years of meditation and therapy later, "The Godcast" is getting a second shot at greatness. It's my sincere hope that Everyone Is Going To Go Crazy can celebrate how deeply embarrassing it is to be human, grant my younger self some much-needed sympathy, and maybe even help me figure out exactly what the h*ll I was talking about at the time.

I invite you to join my lovely roommate and I each week as we work our way through the original clips from the 2021 "podcast" and the Menty B itself. I swear to tell the truth, no matter how unflattering. After all, you need to hear it: the next one to go crazy might just be you.
