Episode 17: Cancel Cancel Culture

Cancel culture has to go! But before we start canceling celebrities, maybe we should take a closer look at the things that actually deserve our outrage. Why are we so quick to condemn entertainers while turning a blind eye to politicians who bomb countries, spread destruction, and contribute to genocide? Why aren't we holding the drug dealers and gang members destroying our own neighborhoods to the same standard? Is cancel culture really about accountability, or has it become another exercise in selective outrage and hypocrisy?

On this episode of the Man Up Podcast, Kalani Evans takes on the hypocrisy of cancel culture, touching on Kanye West, the Freddy Krueger controversy, political smear campaigns during election season, and the double standards surrounding public figures and accountability.

But that's just the beginning. We get into fatherhood and Halloween with my son, navigating the single life, and the heartbreaking Palm Beach jet crash and murder of Javits Frimpong. We also discuss the latest NFL action, NBA basketball, and the ongoing debate over music's greatest, most overrated, and underrated voices. From Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, and Bruce Springsteen to Michael Jackson and James Brown, we revisit Rolling Stone's greatest singers rankings and its all-time hip-hop albums list.

As always, we're covering a little bit of everything because life doesn't happen in one category.

It's time to stop picking and choosing who deserves accountability. Cancel cancel culture!

Don't just play the game, change the game.

Man vs. Woman: The World's Longest War

Is the battle between men and women the oldest war in human history? This week on the Man Up Podcast, Kalani Evans dives into the ongoing tension between masculinity and femininity, how the relationship between men and women has evolved, and why traditional masculinity seems to be under attack in today's society. Are men and women becoming more divided, or are we losing sight of what it takes to understand each other?

Kalani also gets personal, sharing his perspective on life as a single father, navigating the dating world, and the realities of relationships from his own experience. From the current political climate and the latest comments and rallies involving Donald Trump and Barack Obama to Trump's remarks about Nicki Minaj, nothing is off the table.

Plus, we're talking basketball as the NBA tips off another season, breaking down the action from NFL Week 7, and touching on the bigger conversations shaping our culture.

Real talk. Relationships. Fatherhood. Politics. Sports. No scripts, no filters—just an honest conversation about life, society, and what it means to be a man in today's world.

This is the Man Up Podcast—for every man, woman, and human.

Trauma can change us, but it doesn’t have to define who we become. In this episode of the Man Up Podcast, Kalani Evans gets real about trauma, resilience, and the importance of moving forward without allowing our past to dictate our future.

From the Oregon elementary school shooting and the lasting impact of violence to the growing presence of AI and robots in the workplace, we explore the challenges shaping our lives and our society. As technology advances and machines begin taking on jobs once performed by humans, what does the future of the American workforce look like?

We also get into the latest political headlines, including Trump backing away from the proposed live streaming of Republican executions, before shifting gears into NBA division and season predictions and a look back at NFL Week 6.

And because life isn't just about the headlines, Kalani shares some personal experiences from the week, including a recent date and the everyday moments that make life what it is.

From trauma and perseverance to sports, politics, technology, relationships, and everything in between, this is an honest conversation about navigating the world we live in while continuing to grow through what we go through.

Life has a way of putting you in situations you never expected, forcing you to reflect, grow, and reevaluate what truly matters. In this episode of the Man Up Podcast, I'm sharing a personal Man Up Moment as I discuss the importance of the family unit, the challenges that come with relationships, and what it means to keep showing up when life doesn't go according to plan.

But that's not all we're getting into. We also discuss Trump's rally, the announcement surrounding a public execution, and Week 5 of the NFL season. From politics and current events to football and the personal experiences that shape who we are, this episode covers a little bit of everything.

At the heart of it all is a conversation about life, responsibility, perspective, and how we respond when we're faced with difficult circumstances. No preaching, no pretending to have all the answers—just honest conversations about the things that matter.

Welcome to the Man Up Podcast—for every man, woman, and human.

<itunes:summary>in a world where traditional gender roles are changing and the role of men in society is constantly being debated, one question deserves an honest conversation: Do men still matter?
In this episode of the Man Up Podcast, we take a deeper look at the value and role of men in modern society—from fatherhood and leadership to relationships, responsibility, and purpose. We’ll also talk about the ways men have contributed to their own struggles and ask whether society truly values what men bring to the table.
This isn’t about putting men above women. It’s about asking a difficult question: What happens to society when men lose their sense of purpose—and what does society actually need from men today?</itunes:summary>
