Cultivate the Momentum

Cultivate the Momentum is the podcast for anyone who’s ever looked at a school and thought, “There has GOT to be a better way to do this.” Good news, there is. Ordinary educators and students are doing extraordinary work every day. And we’re building it together… one conversation, one idea, and one slightly wobbly marshmallow tower at a time.

Hosted by Dr. Debra Lubberts, an instructional leader, instructional technology specialist, and enthusiastic believer that collaboration can solve almost anything. This show brings educators, coaches, leaders, students, and families under one big, beautiful canopy of collective impact! Think of it as a staff meeting, a pep rally, and a deep leadership retreat all rolled into one… but with way better vibes.

Each episode explores the messy, magical, hilarious, heartfelt and joyful work of designing schools where every learner can grow. Along the way, we celebrate the wins, unpack the challenges, and laugh at the moments that remind us we’re all human and doing our best.

Whether you’re teaching, leading, coaching, parenting, or just trying to remember your password for the 47th time this week, Cultivate the Momentum is your weekly dose of inspiration, clarity, and “okay, we’ve got this.”

Come for the humor. Stay for the heart. Leave ready to build the schools of our dreams — with integrity, creativity, and maybe a little tape to hold it all together.

Today’s episode is called Measuring What Matters, and we’re heading to Lima Primary School in the Honeoye Falls–Lima School District. You’re about to hear from the amazing Erin Evers, a kindergarten and first‑grade reading interventionist whose team recently earned the title of Super Stretch School for their incredible gains in both reading and math.

Erin shares how her school transformed the i‑Ready diagnostic from a stressful task into a joyful, structured, student‑centered experience. We talk about consistent administration, MyPath routines, small‑group support, data celebrations, and the adorable moment when students chant “Rock the Test!” at their kickoff assembly.

This episode is packed with practical strategies, inspiring moments, and a whole lot of heart. So, settle in — and get ready to hear how one school is measuring what matters most: growth, confidence, and the belief that every child can succeed.
