We’re hanging out with Canadian country artist Kelsi Mayne, who joined us during the Calgary Stampede for a conversation that was every bit as entertaining as you’d expect.

Kelsi has carved out her own lane in country music, blending country roots with Motown soul, hip-hop and a little rock attitude. A Windsor, Ontario native who spent nearly a decade writing in Nashville, she’s become one of Canada’s most exciting independent artists, with millions of streams, multiple CMAOntario nominations, a 2024 International Songwriting Competition win, and appearances at some of the biggest country festivals in the country.

And this wasn’t just a sit-down interview, Kelsi brought the music with her. She even grabbed a guitar and sang a few songs for us right there in the studio.

It’s a fun one with plenty of laughs, a little music, and some good old-fashioned Cowboy Shit.

Ted is one of only eight media professionals honored by both the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA), earning the PRCA Media Award for Excellence in Print Journalism in 2010 and the WPRA Media Award in 2014. With more than two decades in the newspaper business, his career has spanned small-town weeklies, major dailies, and ultimately the founding of TwisTed Rodeo, a media relations company dedicated to the sport.

His work has appeared in hundreds of newspapers and publications including Western Horseman, Texas Monthly, WPRA Magazine, and Chatter Magazine. Ted has served as media director for countless rodeos and stock contractors and has been a publicist for dozens of cowboys and cowgirls.

He was selected as the Wrangler NFR alternate announcer in 1995. He was selected to work the Ram National Circuit Finals Rodeo on four separate occasions and worked four different PRCA Circuit Finals for a total of 18 appearances. He’s announced the College National Finals Rodeo eight times, the National High School Rodeo finals twice, the Indian National Finals Rodeo twice, but the majority of his career was spent over 14 years from 1994 to 2008 with the Professional Bull Riders. He was selected to work the PBR World Finals eight times and spent 15 years as the ABBI World Finals announcer, also working RFD-TV’s The American for nine years from 2014 to 2022. Having worked over 100 different PRCA Rodeos in 30 different states and 80 different PBR Events in 25 different states as well as Canada, he and his wife Amber now own and operate Silver Creek Rodeo Company. Greening is also a decorated Curler. She has been a leader in her field and has played major roles and has volunteered in Provincial, National, and World Championships from the 2005 Time Hortons Brier, 2007 Ford Worlds Men’s Curling Championships, 2009 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings and the 2017 Alberta Provincial Ladies Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Locally in the Edmonton area, she has been the Chairperson for many events; Country Music Week, The Ford World Curling Championships, The Olympic Curling Trials and the Alberta Women’s Curling Championship. She is also Past Chair of the CapitalCare Foundation and currently sits on the Board of the Hec Gervais Scholarship Foundation and The Steadward Centre 40th Anniversary Celebration. This exceptional level of community involvement earned her the 2007 Global Woman of Vision Award and she's also an inductee of the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame. He’s the 1986 Canadian Champion Bull Rider and 1994 Cowboy of the Year. In 2002 he would be inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and is a 2005 inductee into the Canadian Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. Topping that off is the 2006 induction into the PBR’s Ring of Honor. Producing over 400 events through BullBustin’ Inc since 1993, he and wife and business partner Rhonda have raised over $2M for charity. He’s a three-time coach of Team Canada for the PBR’s World Cup and has been a color-commentator on OLN, ESPN, Rogers Sportsnet, TSN and CBC for over 20 years. Born and raised in Redcliff, Alberta now from Okotoks, it’s Cody Snyder.

He represented team Canada at the 2003 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, and won the 2006 Memorial Cup with the Vancouver Giants. In 2005 he was drafted 154th overall by the Boston Bruins (not a big deal), and currently he plays for the Jacksonville Icemen of the ECHL. Additionally, he operates his own skills and conditioning program and serves as the hockey ambassador on the Indigenous Sport Council, it's Wacey Rabbit.

What started with his first drum kit at six years old turned into his first band when he was in junior high which led to eventually working with his father’s band in 1998. From there he would start into solo shows recording his debut EP in 2016, Forever a Cowboy following it up and his first full-length project, Sagebrush in 2017. His latest effort, Next In Line, took him to opening for shows with Toby Keith, Aaron Watson and Garth Brooks. From Kaycee, Wyoming, Ned LeDoux.

For the week of July 1st, 2020, Canada Day, Ted Stovin and Wacey Anderson fill the void of this year's cancelled Calgary Stampede by making the trip out west to have a chat with Honorary Parade Marshal Filipe Masetti Leite. By the time you listen to this show, Filipe will have finished his third and final Long Ride. His first began in 2012 at the Calgary Stampede and ventured 10,000 miles to Barretos, Brazil. You can read about that journey in his book Long Ride Home. His second Long Ride went from Barretos to the southern tip of South America. His third and final began last fall in Alaska and ends this week at the Calgary Stampede, back where it all began.

Edwards is known for his work on American Sniper, The Longest Ride and Westworld.
