This week we have legendary creator Jesse Lonergan! A favorite customer here at CWS with his books Panda Express Service and Hedra! We'll be diving into his history, how he sets up pages and so much more!

Jesse Lonergan is a comic book artist living in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. His work is known for its experimental layouts and innovative page compositions, playing with the formal elements of the comics medium to tell stories in new and original ways. He works with both mainstream and indie publishers, as well as dabbling in self-publishing. His wordless comic HEDRA was nominated for an Eisner for best single issue in 2020, and his graphic novel DROME was featured on many best-of-the-year lists in 2025. He likes distorted guitars, tiny-tiled floors, junk food, old maps, and watching movies about sad robots.

Cynation Comics is a young boutique Australian indie company, (founded by The Mak Bros.) with unmatched tenacity, work ethic, and constantly expanding ideas that go against convention. We'll be diving into Anthony's history, his work in comics, and everything you want to know about the Kubert School!

When it comes to the history and art of comic books, Anthony Marques is a leader in the art form. A graduate of the iconic Joe Kubert School, he began his career working as an editor for publishers DC Comics and Dynamite Entertainment. A true student of the medium, he was able to bring new and exciting visions to life as an artist for beloved characters such as Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and more. In addition to working on numerous projects with these companies, he became an instructor at the Joe Kubert School before eventually becoming president and owner of the institution. There he works with instructors to usher in the next generation of comic book creators.

As a comics reporter, she has written for Marvel, DC Comics, Women Write About Comics, CBR, Voice of Youth Advocates, WTAP Television, and more.

She works on iconic franchises such as My Little Pony, Marvel, DC Comics, Ghostbusters, Adventure Time, and Rick and Morty. She has crafted over 5,000 artist trading cards for Upperdeck, Topps, Rittenhouse, and more. Through writing, coloring, editing, and illustration, her work has been published in over 250 books. She also publishes her two series, Ah Heck!! and Faux Facts – The Truth Can Be Strange!

Javier Hernandez began publishing through his own imprint in 1998 with the debut issue of El Muerto the Aztec Zombie. In 2007 a film adaptation of El Muerto was released, for which Javier served as Associate Producer. In 2011 he co-founded the Latino Comics Expo, the nation's first comic convention dedicated to spotlighting the work of Latino creators in comics and related popular arts. Since 2003 he's been teaching comic book classes throughout Los Angeles and also lectures at museums and libraries about his career in comics.

As a Professor of Screenwriting and with decades of writing experience, I’m so happy to have finally finished my first novel that took nearly a decade to complete.
