It even stands on its own outside of the shadow of Brandon Sanderson's work. Is that a requirement for a work that's part of a universe, that it has to stand alone?

For those of you who haven't read Sanderson's work, especially the Stormlight Archives, are you more interested now? For those of you have read him, is this a good on-ramp? Are there better ones?

Next month we're reading The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde.
