What does it really look like to live authentically?

Being Poly is a podcast about identity, authenticity, connection, and purpose—hosted by husband and wife Ana Aiono Dowden and Greg Dowden.

“Poly” has more than one meaning for us. It’s rooted in our Polynesian/Pasifika identity, our experience with polyamory, and the many layers that make us who we are.

Through honest conversations, personal stories, and plenty of laughter, we explore relationships, sexuality, culture, family, love, and what happens when you start questioning the rules you inherited and intentionally build a life that actually fits you.

We’re not here to tell anyone the “right” way to live or love. We’re sharing what we’ve learned—and are still learning—as we figure out what it means to show up fully and authentically as ourselves.

Because there’s more than one way to love, more than one way to build a family, and more than one way to be you.

Being Poly is an Island Hotwife Media production.

What do polyamory, anime, and fitness have in common? Apparently, more than you'd think!

Things get a little NEWD in Episode 3 of Being Poly! 👀😂

Ana and Greg welcome Kyle Daniels, owner of Rising Star Fitness, personal trainer, former bodybuilder, and anime enthusiast, for a conversation packed with unexpected connections, hilarious double entendres, and plenty of laughs. And yes, Kyle trains out of NEWD Gym, but don't worry—you don't have to be naked to work out with him!

When asked about his relationship status, Kyle explains why he doesn't identify as either polyamorous or monogamous. He's simply being himself and loving who he wants to love.

That opens up a conversation about the many ways people experience love, relationships, and nonmonogamy. Just because our poly looks different from someone else's doesn't make either experience any less valid.

Kyle compares it to the age-old anime debate: Sub vs. Dub. Who gets to decide what makes someone a real anime fan? And just like there's no single right way to enjoy anime, there's no one-size-fits-all approach to fitness—or love. It's about discovering what works best for YOU.

Along the way, we explore the surprisingly interconnected fitness world (which might have more in common with the Polynesian community than you'd expect), gym fashion, bodybuilding, Thundercats, and whether Kyle should dress as Panthro for Halloween.

And when Kyle reveals he's loyal to just one gym, Greg discovers that maybe Kyle isn't monogamous after all… he's MonoGYMous! 😂

Between the dad jokes, playful innuendos, and unexpected moments of insight, this episode reminds us that authenticity isn't about fitting into someone else's definition of who you should be. It's about being comfortable enough to define life, love, and happiness on your own terms.

💜 Being Poly explores identity, authenticity, connection, and purpose through honest conversations about the many ways we live and love.

For the very first episode of Being Poly, Ana and Greg sit down with someone who helped inspire them to do exactly that: Donato Fatuesi.

Donato is an actor, producer, speaker, host, and content strategist whose work centers on authentic storytelling and elevating voices that too often go unheard. As one of the hosts of the hit podcast, Island Fever, Donato shares her experience as a Trans woman and Samoan fa'afafine. Her work, advocacy, and the conversations she creates have built spaces where people can feel seen, understood, and empowered to embrace who they are.

But this conversation is personal, too.

Donato's willingness to live openly and authentically helped inspire Ana and Greg to publicly share their own journey with polyamory, bisexuality, and what it means to be a QTPI.

Together, they explore Polynesian culture, gender and identity, representation, visibility, community, and the freedom that can come when we stop trying to fit ourselves into someone else's definition of who we're supposed to be.

Because “poly” means more than one thing here.

And maybe authenticity isn't about choosing which part of yourself gets to be seen.

Maybe it's about finally allowing yourself to be all of them.
