With seven competitive esports teams already established, BC is expanding into academics by launching a new esports academic program this fall. They also discuss the college’s first-ever Legends Fest, a two-day convention bringing high school teams and eight colleges together for competition, collaboration, and community.

In this inaugural episode, Dr. Monique Baucham, Provost, hosts a conversation highlighting three key Reinvestment Programs that reflect how Brazosport College is helping students not only afford college, but succeed once they arrive.

Dr. Anne Bartlett, Vice President of Industry and Strategic Initiatives, introduces the Momentum Scholars Program, a cohort-based experience designed to help students move forward with purpose and confidence. Momentum provides structured academic support, leadership development, and real-world experience while helping students make clear, informed decisions about their academic and career paths. By creating a strong sense of connection and support, Momentum helps students stay on track and reach their goals sooner, whether that means transferring, entering the workforce, or continuing their education.

Next, Sam Resecker, Director of Nursing, shares an inside look at Brazosport College’s plans to pursue a part-time track within the Nursing Program, with approval to be requested from the Board of Nursing in late Spring 2026. This proposed option would allow students to balance work, family, and life responsibilities while completing a rigorous and highly respected nursing program that traditionally requires a significant time commitment.

Finally, Chris Mezzino, Director of the Law Enforcement Academy, introduces the Blue Line Scholars Program, which supports students pursuing careers in law enforcement. Blue Line Scholars helps guide students through the Law Enforcement Academy application process and provides support throughout the academy itself, helping students navigate this demanding pathway with clarity and confidence.
