Hi everyone, I’m Ms China story (you can also reach me out at: mschinastory@gmail.com). Welcome back to my channel. I was born and raised in China but I’ve spent nearly 20 years overseas building my career as a professional researcher in the financial industry.

That mix—growing up in China, then analysing it professionally from abroad—gives me a view that’s a bit different from most China podcasts. I’ve seen the country both from the inside, through lived experience, and from the outside, through data, policy, and global markets. And after years of travelling onshore and offshore, I’ve been trying to make sense of China for international audiences and I’ve realised just how big the gap can be between perception and reality even in an age of constant social media and information overload.

This podcast is where I bring all that together.

In each episode, I’ll share stories and reflections from the China I know—through travel, everyday life, books, history, and the small moments that reveal deeper truths. Yes, I’m a researcher, but I promise this won’t be another economics lecture. It’s about the people, the culture, and the lived experiences that make China so complex and fascinating.

If you’re looking for a grounded, nuanced, and insider’s view of China—beyond the noise, beyond the clichés—you’re in the right place.

Here’s the truth: There’s no single “most Chinese.” It’s in the shared family dinners, the language accents that vary from city to city in mainland China, or the spicy bite of Singapore’s food that feels so familiar. It’s in the way Hong Kong blends tradition with modern hustle, or how Taiwan softens history into a warm, human touch. The heart of Chinese culture isn’t one place or one way—it’s a thousand expressions, all rooted in the same rich history but shaped by different stories.

So, which place feels most Chinese to you?
